this hotel is excellent nothing is too much trouble for the staff housekeeping staff are a1 and do a great job if you need anything just ask them reception staff also want to do everything to ensure your stay is comfortable

Although we only stayed for one night on this occasion, it was the fifth time we have used this hotel when visiting North Wales, and we have never been disappointed. It is so convenient for both visiting areas of North Wales as well as Chester, yet at a far more reasonable cost than in Chester itself. The rooms are always spotless and the breakfast buffet is excellent value yet offers a very wide choice to suit all tastes.

On the positive side, the breakfast was excellent, it's cheaper if you book in advance and was very good value for money.
The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful most of the time. Our room was clean
However, our stay was ruined by a terrible bed. We were unable to both sleep in it as the "roll together" was so bad, in fact it was like a giant hole in the middle of the mattress. One of us had to sleep on the sofa, which was only slightly more comfortable than the bed. We did complain about the state of the bed when we first arrived in the hope we could be moved, but was told all of the hotel beds were the same!!!
The hotel lounge area is shabby, with dirty, worn out sofas and sticky tables - not a nice place to relax with a drink
We had only booked for one night, had we needed to stay longer we would have found another hotel. Will never stay here again

We had stayed at this hotel before, but this time we were very disappointed. The heating wasn't working in the room, the hotel had provided a heater but this took a long time to heat the room. They also provided an extra heater but this did not work. There were hairs in the sink, definately not ours. The duvet was lumpy and not adequate. The hotel feels well worn.

Stayed for just on night as my daughter was in a gymnastics competitiion in Queensferry the next morning (we had travelled from Newport in South Wales).
Hotel was very easy to find, sat right next to the dual carriageway.
Chester just a short drive away and well worth a visit.
Thought that noise would be a problem as our room looked out onto the road. But we didn't notice any and I'm a light sleeper.
The beds were comfy and there were plenty of blankets and pillows.
Bathroom was clean and tidy and well stocked with the essentials. Not enough towels for us but duty manager rectified immediately without a hesitation.
Shower was hot and powerful (how rarely do you get both?!)
Bar area friendly and informal. Drinks expensive but no surprise there.
Didn't try food as we arrived late and left early.

This has got to be the worst Holiday Inn I've stayed in. The Room was dark, with damp stains on the walls which they tried to cover up with the curtains and the heating was either too hot or too cold. No flat screen TV, which should be standard nowadays. Location however was good as the hotel is situated on a service station with 3/4 eating places including an American Diner which was good and the hotel offers free wi-fi unlike other Holiday Inn's but the hotel itself needs a facelift.

Stayed in the hotel last week for the first time in a long time, and I am glad to report that it has not lost any of its charm and is great hotel to relax after work with staff that go out of there way to help you.
I hope to return to this hotel in the near future.

We are an U12 boys football team and were playing at Wrexham and the experience from booking to leaving was outstanding. Firstly U12 children eat & sleep at no cost and the staff were courteous, professional and seemed genuinely interested in their customers.
It made the 250 mile round trip an experience as opposed to a parents footballing chore.

This hotel is clearly a former Holiday Inn Express - they have not bothered to change the crockery or serviettes - which has not really been upgraded to what I expect (as a platinum member and therefore a regular stayer) from a Holiday Inn.
There was no platinum recognition (I don't think there are any executive rooms to upgrade you to anyway#, not even a bottle of water, although at least the wifi was free.
The hotel sits in a service area on the westbound A55 so it is not easy to get to Chester from there, and it is not particularly scenic nor quiet.
The room furnishings are still Express quality, but at least the cost was not extortionate.
Breakfast was poor; a limited selection of cereals and fruit and the table had not been cleaned #rings from cups etc clearly visible) and staff appeared disinterested.
I won't be back

I stayed at this hotel from Friday 4/1/13 for 3 nights, I was working DAYS, 06:00---18:00 not once was my room cleaned, just a bag with 2 towels outside my room each time I came back from work, I DID NOT have my DND on the outside of my door, I complained on the Saturday night and nothing done, then again on the Sunday night, still nothing done, it looked like they were short staffed at the weekend, also the AC unit was not working, they put a small heater in the room, once I turned this heater on it was burning dust and not a nice smell, the food was excellent, also the staff were handing YELLOW cards out saying Don't bother, this vehicle has been emptied of all valuable items, I was told there has been a lot of vehicle break inns,

The whole experience was excellent. We stayed over the Christmas period and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I needed a rubber bath mat and it was there before I even made it back to the room! The room was very clean and very comfortable and although we only ate in the hotel once, the food was very good. We had a little difficulty working out the heating controls at first (not difficult really but being two pensioners, it probably says it all !!!) but one of the staff was there immediately to help and even brought us an electric fan heater to heat the room quickly until the heating got up to temperature.Only one downside is that the hotel is situated right on the A55 going west so if you wanted to go east towards Chester, you had to drive to the 2nd exit going west to be able to get back on to the A55 going east, but for us it wasn't really a problem because we enjoyed going through the countryside and villages.
Overall, a really enjoyable experience.

Have stayed a number of times over several years and always been made welcome. Good sized rooms, comfortable beds and well-prepared food in the attractive conservatory restaurant.
Very convenient base for visits into North Wales and the Wirral peninsula

Very good value for a family room (2+2) with a full breakfast buffet included. Good size, comfortable, warm and clean. We were not disturbed by neighbours either. Staff were very friendly and breakfast was excellent.

Stayed at hotel for one night for wedding. Had fantastic day. Stayed in a very large room which was clean and spacious but the whole hotel has a dated feel to it. Bathrooms and bedrooms could def do with an overhaul.

I have stayed in lots of Holiday Inns around the country and this is one of the few that have their own Chef and regularly changing menu, thankfully avoiding the generic Holiday Inn menu that most Holiday Inns adhere to.
Being a business visitor I tend to get in late and opt for room service, which has no tray charge. The food really is great quality.
They have really fast, free wifi, without the hassle of vouchers or download limits, great when I need to download large attachments.
The room rates are great, treat yourself to an Executive room to get a large screen TV, Fridge, Whirlpool bath, robes, etc, etc.
The TV could do with more digital channels, but if you've got a laptop you can stream any channel on the fast wifi, so no problem. Also it is a little noisy as it's close to the A55.
The staff are courteous, friendly and helpful.
When working in the region, I always return.

Room is what you would expect, from a mid-range hotel. Easy access from roadway. Breakfast was far too expensive for us so we chose to eat elsewhere. On site laundry would have been nice to have.

We were very impressed with our stay at the Holiday Inn and would not hesitate in returning or recommending the Holiday Inn.
On our arrival the staff at reception were very friendly and helpful.
We were well impressed with the choice for breakfast and the service provided by the staff.
Considering the hotel is on the main A55 there was no road noise whatsoever.
Two very satisfied customers.

On arrival, received a warm welcoming smile and quick check-in. Room was clean and fresh, with everything to hand for a comfortable nights stay. Excellent breakfast choice and fast check out. All you would ask for, good service, cleanliness, and feeling that your custom was valued.

Room 127 disable access, very convenient for all amenities but the bed was more like a 3/4 size and not a double as expected.
Overall, a good stay. Reception and bar staff very helpful.
Breakfast menu and service was excellent.

Rooms were dated and tired, to a point where they were no better than the budget hotel across the road. The breakfast were very expensive so we didn't bother (over £10 for a full breakfast). There was a function room at the side of the hotel, meaning parties going on until late both nights. On the Saturday there was a private function in the main bar, meaning restricted space to sit, and the loud disco meant it was impossible to sit and have a conversation, I don't recall reading anywhere when i booked or being warned about this on arrival (especially seeing as it went on well past 11pm). Luckily my room was away from the bar, but friends that i were staying with were directly above the bar area.
