All the staff we met were very friendly and very helpful. Our guest room was spacious and well-equipped for our needs, although there was litter under the sofa bed. June 11, 2014

I was shocked that smoking rooms still exist! I had a horrible night and I stank for the whole of the next day, I felt disgusting. June 7, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Whats that on the bathroom floor The layout of the room and the comfort was great but on the morning after my first nights stay, I took a shower. When I got out of the shower a laid a towel on the floor and stood on it whilst I dried off. When I picked the floor towel up you could see a brown residue in the pattern of the tile grout. I reported this to reception and they apologised and said they would make sure the bathroom floor was cleaned properly for my second nights stay. Instead I got a note saying that floor was due to be replaced that week but floor mats had been left - which had the same pattern on it after I had finished. I daren't ask what the brown staining was but I would ask if the room wasn't entirely fit for letting why was it let and why was I not given the option of a different room..? June 7, 2014

When I arrived after 2 pm I was told the room was ready but when I got to the room I was confronted by a workman (a plumber) working on the room who had to be virtually thrown out as I wished to take up occupation of the room. There was a good selection on the menu. Although a little slow in receiving our meals the food was very good. May 31, 2014

The manager always asking if you are having a pleasant stay and genuinely cares. This is a popular place so i would recommend booking early, very competitive rates too. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable base for North Wales Picked this hotel with a view to visiting Chester and north Wales, and found it and excellent location although it was an extra drive to the Flint exit to get to Chester and on return from north Wales coast had to drive to exit east of hotel to get onto westbound route. The hotel receptionist was welcoming and allowed us to check in at 12.30pm and drop off our bags. The food in the restaurant was enjoyable and tasty. Breakfast selection was excellent. Our room was very comfortable and spacious and the bed allowed a good nights sleep. Would recommend very highly. April 22, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Poor breakfast We stayed 2 nights a Saturday and the Sunday. The breakfast on the Sunday was the usual buffet and had a good choice and all well cooked. On the Monday the Buffet breakfast was not available as there "were not a lot of guests ,so the breakfasts would be cooked to order" . The bacon ,black pudding and sausages were hard and I would guess were left over from the previous day. Not what I expect for cooked to order and from the HI. April 21, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by More like an Express Hotel than a Holiday Inn Not very clean there were hairs in the bath, rust around the shower head and the toilet seat was wet! The bed was extremely low to the ground and the valance was all crumpled up on the floor around the bed. The kettle had a lot of limescale in and the room could of done with a good dust! The corridors didn't smell nice either. To me this was more like a Holiday Inn express and I've stayed in better expresses elsewhere. I only stayed there on business so fortunately i won't be going back again! March 29, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by There are better Holoiday Inns I booked the Castle suite - great room but people clattering up & down the stairs on the other side of the wall kept me awake until the early hours and it started again at 5am. Serious problem of sound insulation. The room heater could not cope - hence the extra electric heater in the cupboard and it took ages to work out how to operate the complicated multiple showers/Jacuzzi. I moved to an Exec room but that wasn't much better. Sounded like a herd of elephants above my head - you really need to do something about noise transmission on the floor - proper underlay and a thick carpet - it was an Exec room after all! Lamb shank for dinner and I should have sent it back. Grossly overcooked and the outside had a hard inedible crust!!! March 7, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely staff The staff at this Holiday Inn are excellent and really friendly. If there is the slightest problem, they are always happy and quick to sort it out. I only rated the food as good because I wanted porridge for breakfast and they didn't have any! I have had some really nice evening meals at the hotel, though. It's well worth eating there. There's a variety and you can eat healthily. Not sure how thrilled people would be if they wanted to stay in Chester, though. Chester West is a bit misleading. The hotel is certainly west of Chester, bit it's off a dual carriageway in Wales. Rooms at the front can be a bit noisy due to the dual carriageway. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, though. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by weekend away stayed at hotel on 31/1/2014, my wife and myself went for a weekend break and found our stay at hotel excellent. staff very friendly and helpful. plenty of free parking in well lit carpark..rooms very clean. no complaints at all regarding hotel or staff..plenty of places to eat on site of hotel. already booked to go again.when going into chester take the park and ride its only 2 pounds return fare per person. for a weekend away this is a good place to go,easy access for many places to visit February 4, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by dirty in general I know this establishment is crying out for refurbishment, but not an excuse for being dirty. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble but they are fighting a losing battle. The heating/air conditioning rattled all the time, even when switched off - not conducive to a good nights sleep, hence we left after one night. The location, given as Cheshire West, is actually about 10 miles outside the town and in Wales!! January 1, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Staff are fab Stayed in this hotel for a night for a weekend in Chester, it shouldn't be advertised as a Chester hotel as it's almost 20 miles away, taxi fare was 20 pounds each way !!!!! Overall staff were very helpful, couldn't fault the room apart from temperature control , which resulted in us cooking through the night,our main problem was the breakfast, good choice overall but everything was cold, which resulted in us not bothering,20 quid for a yogurt and an orange juice, not good..... Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Family Break to Chester and Wales We wanted to book an overnight stay that included a 90 year old disabled parent. Arran suggested that if we booked the disabled room, we could have the room next door with our own interconnecting private door. This worked out excellent. The staff advised us that they had Xmas parties booked and it could get noisy, so we decided to eat out. As it happened, the elderly lady preferred to eat in the hotel and we enjoyed excellent food and drinks. The Xmas parties were well behaved people in bow ties and evening dress. They didn't cause any trouble. Great breakfasts all round. There were three soap dispensers in the bathroom, but the one over the bath was empty. I found how it fitted and swopped it with the one from the shower. The room was lovely, but we sleep with the window open and the traffic noise woke my wife early. As in many hotels, the hair drier was pathetic. My wife had to hold the ON button all the time to make it work. My Platinum status wasn't recognised as it should have been, I had to ask for facilities, but they were then granted. The reservation paperwork was not ready, but we did arrive 30 minutes early and were let into our rooms. Not moaning, we really enjoyed our stay. Just a bit of constructive criticism.
