Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always exceptional This hotel is exceptional from the minute you drive up with the valet staff awaiting your arrival to the friendly front desk agents. I was greeted with my IHG Rewards status and provided with a wonderful room overlooking the river. The view in the evening was breathtaking to say the least. Our room was very comfortable for a family of 4. Our kids enjoyed the indoor pool and commented on how warm the pool was as well-- The bathroom was spacious in size and loved the mirror over the sink with its anti fogging feature and the bath lighting was perfect as well. Towels are plush and bedding had crisp linens--loved the pillows too. Television channels were of a great variety. Overall---I would say, exceptional experience. Hotel was full but heard no noise at all in our guest room. We will be back!!! July 16, 2014

The staff delivers exceptional service from the time you walk in the door until the time you leave. I had never been to Chicago and was pleasantly surprised that we were able to walk to many of the city's major attractions without any problems. I would definitely recommend this hotel . Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent hotel but overpriced for the quality and service I had a spur-of-the-moment trip to Chicago arise and booked at this hotel since I have stayed here before and had a decent experience at that time. My boyfriend and I decided to make the trip a celebration of recent good events in our life and booked a slightly nicer room than we normally do, at higher cost. Overall, while there was nothing majorly wrong with our stay, I found myself disappointed in the hotel, the staff, and service on this visit. I do not feel we were given the type of room we booked and the front desk staff were frankly just straight up rude (especially since I was trying to be honest and tell them I thought I was under-billed... I don't appreciate being treated like an idiot because I don't understand the company's pricing structure and the internal language). The only person who showed a genuine interest in me and my experience was the concierge, Russell. He is fabulous and the only reason I have any faith in going back to this hotel in the future. I loved the view of the city from my room window; the room was quieter than I expected, but I guess that was due in part to all floors of the hotel being well above the street level. The pillows and bed were so very comfortable! The staff, from the ground level to the 23rd floor, were all amazing, helpful, and cheerful each day. And the food!! I absolutely loved dining at Italasia, and the lobster mac and cheese was beyond incredible at the bar! The pool was like a dream come true! The hotel was also a great place for the convention I attended for the three days I spent there; I begged the conference organization to have future conferences specifically at your hotel location in the future! As a Priority Member, I can honestly say this is by far the best H.I. I have ever stayed in, and I have every intention to make this where I stay whenever I am in Chicago from now on. Thank you, thank you, thank you, to all of the wonderful people there! July 14, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great town....Hotel? Meh. Chicago is awesome and this location was just fine. However, it rained some over the weekend and when it did, the TV signal kept going out. One of those 'features' of satellite dishes. That was very annoying. Since it rained Saturday morning, we decided to stay in for breakfast and had the 21.95 buffet. It was very average at best. WAY over priced. At check-in, on Friday night at about 7pm, there was a line of 6 guests and only 1 clerk to check us in. After about 10 minutes, a second clerk showed up. The valet guys were great. Really helpful and nice to chat with. July 14, 2014

During this visit I was delighted to have a more updated room - newer furniture and updated bathroom. I was also delighted by the dinner menu available at the bar - what a treat after a long flight and late check-in. It was so much more pleasant than just ordering room service. Although the wine was a bit stale. The noise transfer from neighboring rooms was pretty high, but not after midnight, so I slept fine. The curtains don't close completely, there is always a crack of light at the edges in the mornings. During high peak times, the price really increases. July 14, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Did not meet expectations On the surface this hotel appears visual awesome. The lobby, restaurants, and services are very asthetically appealing. The rooms are also very nice looking with modern design and ammenities. The staff is very accomadatiing and personal as well, which I appreciated. My biggest issues with this property is that there were no refridgerators in the rooms. After a long day of working would be nice to be able to come back to the room for a "cold" water or soda. Also the room I was in was close to the mechanics for the elevator which ran all day and night which made it extremely difficult to sleep, rest, and relax which was extremely irritating during my stay. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great View and sweet dreams!! We enjoyed this room greatly. The room overlooked the city with a view of the river and Lake Michigan in the distance. We even saw fireworks in the distance from navy Pier. The staff was friendly and always tried to help with directions and even a few recommendations. We had a great stay and only wished that we had planned to stay longer. One night was not enough! July 8, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay The staff and hotel were an excellent choice for my family. The concierge was amazing! They really provided great insight and help on our trip to Chicago. The room was very clean and updated with a modern look. My only comment was the a/c in our room panel was loose and made some noise that needs to be fixed but it do not keep us awake or anything. The view from our corner suite was amazing and the food in the hotel restaurant was very good. Everything about this hotel, its staff and presentation I would highly recommend. The pool was also nice for the kids and a really nice thing after a busy day! July 8, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel, horrible experience retrieving the keys to our car This is a nice hotel located in a good location. The hotel was well maintained but the walls were a bit thin. I could hear people outside my room at 3 am! The pool was nice and the sauna was not so hot. Checking out was a breeze but retrieving our car keys to go home was a nightmare. The attendants could not find them and we waited over an hour for them to be located! July 8, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love location and river view When we pulled up to the hotel we were surprised about the tight parking area and decided to park off site at a very near by local parking garage. Also, note that the hotel lobby is located on the 15th floor about the Chicago Sun Times Building, I wish they would note this on the Holiday Inn hotel site description. Other than this, it is a dynamite location. Ask for a corner suite if possible. The view of the river and buildings is amazing. Just a short walking distance from Michigan Ave and close to tons on restaurants and the Theater District. The room was clean and bed comfortable. Will stay here again next time we come to Chicago July 7, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great views, good value Stayed June 2014 for 3 nights. Good location with beautiful views of the river. Room was clean and comfortable. Internet access worked fairly well. Staff were friendly and helpful. Check-in was very efficient. No safe in the room which was a little inconvenient but free safes offered at reception. Starbucks just down the street for morning coffee and several great restaurants within 15 min. walk. Overall, great value and we would definitely stay at this hotel again. July 7, 2014

The concierge staff (Russell) was a major help to us in planning out our days bus, L, and all other travel routes. He was also willing to make us reservations if we needed them. The room was amazing and all of the areas were very clean. Our room had an amazing view and it wasn't even an expensive room. We will be coming back to Chicago and enjoying this hotel again. The only regret we had is not getting a suite. July 4, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Concierge The person at the concierge desk was extremely helpful and the other employees at the desk were also very helpful. I also have a complaint regarding getting a wheelchair. I called a week ahead of my stay and asked if you had wheelchairs and if I needed to reserve one. I was told that you had them and that I didn't need to reserve one. When I got there you had one wheelchair and it had no foot rests! The concierge was able to find another one with foot rests but one of the wheels was broken so I took the foot rests off the broken one and put them on the good one and we were fine but I was very annoyed by the fact that we had to go through this especially since I was led to believe that I would have no problem getting a wheelchair. Johnny the doorman was a true treat knew anything you needed to know about, and he truly enjoys his job. The staff was great answered every question clearly. Close to Blue Chicago and House of Blues, and a multitude of fine dining. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Chicago. July 2, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location but missing the details to make it a great stay I recently spent nearly a week at this hotel and thought the location was great. If you can secure a south facing room you look south down the river and the downtown view is fantastic! Located on the north west corner of downtown just outside the loop makes it handy to get to and from locations easily. Access to the "L" is a quick walk through the Merchandise Mart to the brown and purple lines. Hotel cleanliness was great. Staff were knowledgeable and helpful. Pool and exercise area was well laid out. This hotel misses the details, that to me anyway, would make it a great stay. In room storage in my room was all of 2 small drawers, a tiny closet and no in room safe, the safe should be as basic as a TV. The stairwells of this hotel are METAL, they reverberate when people use them and are generally noisy. A little carpet on them could go a LONG way. Lucky me had one right on the other side of my bedroom wall, thank you to the repeated 5AM stair runner who apparently didn't realize there was an exercise room open 24/7. Staff was apologetic in the way that you know they are humouring you and nothing will really be done. The room view was the game saver for me on this stay. July 1, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good stay this time . . . I stay here a lot since our corporate office is just across the river, and I spent a full 7 days here this time. Hit or miss on the rooms - some are older/dated, no real views, but got a nice (looked like recently renovated) room this time - great view of East Bay and roomier than previous stays. Only thing was they had several weddings going on all weekend, so rather noisy - returns to rooms and banging around in hallways even up to 2 a.m.! Nice bar. Restaurant is just ok - IMO, not that great Italian-Asian fusion (and way OVERkill on the salt (even on salads), so guzzling water during the night. Being here so many times, I usually work and eat in/room service, but when at this place, I usually end up eating out or doing take-out. July 1, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Holiday Inn I've ever stayed at Fantastic hotel at great location right where the river splits. Easy walk to the "L". Room was beautiful with incredible view of the city looking east. Didn't eat at the restaurant but it looked nice. The ambience in the lobby is almost upscale, with beautiful decor. One tip, it can be a little hard to find the entrance because it's inside the back of main building and there's just a small sign on the street. June 30, 2014
