when it was time for bed we opened sofa for girls only to find crumbs, stains, and hair on mattress. The main bed had stains and hairs as well. So at 1030, we were inconvenienced and had to repack everything, uproot, and move rooms. We then moved to another room, which had cheerios all over the fold out, and this time more hair and blue glitter all over the main bed. This time we were so tired, we chose not to say anything and do what we had to do to avoid the nastiness. We werent explained our executive benefits upon arrival, and found out that our cards had not even been activated to access the benefits (free breakfast, free wi-fi), upon our arrival. To help, they gave us a free lunch in their restauraunt. As an agent that books business travel for a living, I will never subject any traveler to this property. It is poorly kept, the service is poor, and it is poorly managed. Sad.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by solomon56 Overall, a nice hotel.
The hotel location, restaurant, room service, and access to freeways was great. The room was nicely furnished, and the bed was comfortable. My only issue was with finding a strand of hair on the rim of the tub. I had the housekeeping supervisor come to my room to see. She profusely apologized and removed the hair, but negated her apology when she stated that it is a challenge keeping hair from falling from many locations in the shower. I informed her that this was only an excuse.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by KC4apple Fire Alarm and No Shuttle to Airport
The FIRE ALARM went off at 12:30am. I was on the 14th floor and had to walk/run down 14 flights of stairs. No one knew what was going on and the night clerk was just standing behind the desk looking around. She was not handling or managing the chaos at all. After almost an hour there was an all clear with no explanation. To top it off, I was told the shuttle to the airport at 4am had already left. It was 4:02 on my watch and I had called down to check that the shuttle would not leave without me! There were no apologies or explanations. That would have gone a long way. My experience was horrible but the facilities were nice.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by DustyR Parking problems
When we were leaving on Saturday afternoon, I ask the clerk at the front desk what we needed to get out of the parking lot and I showed her a ticket. She said that would get me out but handed me another ticket that would work. I said, there is no parking charge on our hotel receipt, would that be a problem. She said, don't worry about it. My wife then went to get the car and had to pay $20 some dollars to get out. Communication seems to be a problem. The whole discussion came about because of a problem getting the internet in my roomj. for the 3 nights we stayed, at no time could be log in except for a few minutes, then it would disconnect. They even had me talk to someone at Redwood (?# who explained there was something wrong with a server and it would be fixed. It never was. When I used my ipad in the bourse room, the internet worked fine. I've stayed at this hotel numerous times and will stay there in November #reservations already made) but I may decide to stay somewhere else if these types of problems continue. When are you going to add another place to eat. The one you have has a boreing menu that never changes! Thanks for your interest.

We stay at the Crowne Plaza at least twice a year for a Convention. It is a convenient hotel because it has shuttle service to and from the airport. The prices are a little high in the restaurant and bar but the food is good on the limited menu. I miss the old bar being open. It is convenient to walk to either Gibson's or the Capital Grille for food plus there is a new area with other restaurants not far away.
The lighting in the rooms is less than desirable but a lot of hotels have that problem since they are all using those useless CFL bulbs now.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by nsa1001 Not yet a Crowne Plaza
I stayed one night with colleagues, having flown into O'Hare, before going on to Chicago for a conference. The property used to be a Holiday Inn, and the owner decided some months ago to rebrand as Crowne Plaza. This attempt to go up-market is a decidedly half-hearted. We booked into club rooms, at extra cost, so as to have access to the Club Lounge: we had an evening to kill, and this is generally a better bet than the bar. Alas, the owner has not invested at all in the lounge. It is open for a couple of hours each day, and has a few cans of soda and some fruit available during that time. Otherwise it is deserted; no amenities and certainly no staff. The rest of the hotel is a little tired-looking, and whatever refurbishment is in view has yet to happen. On the plus side, the front desk staff were reasonable. I pointed out the lack of snacks in the lounge; so they suggested I have a snack (and drinks) in the bar at no charge. And they said that if I return and let them know in advance, they will happily do the same again. I don't see that they can do better than that. The real problem lies with the uninspired owner, who needs to decide what kind of hotel he wants. At the moment it's a not very good Holiday Inn with a Crowne Plaza wrapper. Can do better.

We loved our stay at Crowne Plaza O'Hare. The front desk welcomed us as Priority Club members in such a friendly way. The rooms were super nice - bed was so comfortable. Excellent pizza at the "Fire Oven" restaurant on site and the staff at the bar and restaurant were delightful.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dolores Beautiful room
When I booked my hotel room I was confirmed for two queen beds, however, when I called to verify while we were driving to Chicago I was told that our room had been sold. I was offered a King Suite instead which meant that one of three adults would have to sleep on the sofa bed. The room I ended up with was a two room suite beautifully appointed. The bathroom had both a tub and separate shower with granite walls. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by osmond1866 Nothing but problems
To start, my door didn't automatically shut and latch, which I've never encountered at ANY hotel. Upon checking in, entered my room, and used to restroom; when I was finished and came out of the bathroom, I realized my door didn't shut. I thought it might have been me, but upon leaving my room to attend a conference I'm glad I looked back because I noticed the door didn't shut again. I found the ONLY way for the door to close, latch, and lock is if I pulled it shut. Then I get up early in the morning to iron my shirt, and the iron does nothing but leak water EVERYWHERE (on my shirt, and the ironing board, on the carpet, on my foot (which burned me)), and nothing I did could get the iron to stop leaking. I tried to call down to the front desk to ask for another iron, only to learn that my phone didn't work. Upon checking out, I informed the receptionist of my irritations and clear issue with my room and stay, and she merely apologized. Nothing else to make sure I frequent Crowne Plaza again. I can tell you, that next time I travel, I will stay at another establishment, even if it is more of an inconvenience for me.

The one staff member (Mary) was cheerful, helpful and overall excellent. It was a very convenient location for park, sleep and fly. It was one of the best experiences I ever had at a Holiday Inn property. Comfortable bed and quiet room-what else is there.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mercs1096 Great hotel for shuttling to and from O'Hare.
We checked into our first room, unpacked and then found out the tv wasn't working and the bathroom sink wouldn't drain. We contacted the front desk and they gave us a new room after maintenance couldn't get the tv to work either. For our inconvenience, they gave us complimentary drink coupons.
Other than that, this is a newly renovated hotel, very clean, super staff and a great bed and linens.
We'll comeback on our next trip.

I starting staying at the Crowne Plaza 2 years ago. I stay there whenever I'm in Chicago even if my business is across town.
Per my recommendation all of my co-workers stay at this hotel also when they are in town because of my high recommendation.
During this stay we had a flight overnight to Detroit for a dinner meeting. On the way to the airport we tipped the shuttle driver. When he picked us up at the airport hte next day for our return to the hotel the smallest bill I had was a $10.00 bill. I should have changed it out at the airprot but I didn't so we didn't tip the driver. I know we should have, but didn't. The shuttle driver made some very rude comments in front of my co-worker and (3) other gentleman that were on the shuttle about us not tipping. It was very rude and I was shocked that he made the comments.

I seriously dislike staying here. The facility is an obstacle course. Parking is horrible and far away. The staff and service are seriously lacking attention to detail. Very clear they consider the guest an enemy. Meeting rooms missing basics like having the lights working properly.

The room was very Small compaired to what I am use to. The room was NOT very clean, the Bedspread was soiled. The Front Desk Did NOT tell me that i was being put into a Handicap room. There was NO space to place my shaving bag or medication, near the sink. PLEASE NEXT TIME TELL THE CUSOMER IF A HANDICAP ROOM IS ALRIGHT!! I was not a happy Camper about this, but after a long day I was not about to track all my luggage back to the front desk.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Fire Alarm
We stayed at this property on Saturday, December 1st. We were greeted and treated well upon arrival. We booked a Club level room. The lounge in the club was un-attended when we accessed it at around 5:30 P.M. A few soft drinks and bags of chips were placed on a table. We found this to be lacking and not the usual standard at a Crowne Plaza Club Level Lounge. At approximately 1:30 a.m., the fire alarm went off. We checked the hall way for security or any direction on weather it was a true alarm or not. We contacted the front desk and were told to come to the lobby as a matter of safety. We did and appreciated the concern for our safety. All clear was given. The last we knew of time was that it was around 4:00 a.m. before we were back in bed. No sleep. The front desk supervisor offered 2000 pts as a jesture of compensation.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by TedS 2 fire alarms in the middle of the night...
The fire alarms went off twice in the middle of the night during our stay. We evacuated the building for about 1/2 hour during the first one at approximately 1AM and stood out in the parking lot. After the firemen told us it was o to go back in, the alarm went off again just after 2AM. Needless to stay, a very marginal nights sleep! No Crowne Plaza employees were around to tell the guests it was ok to re-enter the building- we learned from the firemen.
We we checked out, the people at the desk didn't mention the alarms at all. The did remember to ask for their $25 parking charge however..
One would have thought that the Crowne Plaza would have offered to comp the parking or perhaps breakfast under these circumstances. Heck, I would have settled for an apology.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Millon Smallest Rooms this year. No Platinum Benefits here
Room I was given was way too small for 2 people. Uncomfortably small. If I sat at the desk to do work, my roommate could not access 3/4 of the room! This ruined my stay!! As a Platinum Elite member with over 600 stays, I expect better treatment than the average guest. Not the case at this property. I was shunned on the room up grade, free breakfast or a welcome gift upon check in. Never acknowledged my membership status. Shuttle would not take me anywhere except Airport
Hotel lobby and fitness center were nice. Beds were comfortable.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by RTFirefly3 air & caffeine
Predictably nice hotel for the price, except what genius designed the whole thing with no fan in the guest room bathroom? Made everything smell like a junior high locker-room (and worse). Also, what time do we really need the coffee? 10am, precisely when the otherwise full service coffee-counter shuts down, causing desperation in our group. // Nice options for jogging in the woods across the street tho-- a relief compared to the stuffy work-out room.

am sorry to tell you that I was terribly uncomfortable because your heating system was very badly adjusted. It kept going from cool air to warm air over and over. I woke up so many times during the night because at times I was cold, at other times too hot. I came home and felt like I had not slept an entire WEEK and it was only one night. I chose the hotel because I was part of a wedding party and they chose this hotel. Last time I slept in a Crown Plaza (in detroit) I got points to my delta sky miles account and this time you refused it to me. I am really disappointed.
