Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Winco I thought I was in Detroit.
If you fly into EWR on a domestic United flight, the terminal is not served by the hotel shuttle bus. I had to spend $30 for a cab to take me from EWR to the hotel. I realized this after 40 minutes and despite 2 telephone calls to the hotel front desk.
The room did not smell fresh, and had not been pre-air conditioned unlike my other hotel rooms elsewhere earlier in the week.
Breakfast did not start serving until 6.10am instead of the posted 6am. A small point yes, but a major niggle when time in the morning is tight.
Orange juice was extra for breakfast. Every other hotel breakfast I have had in the USA is included.
$180 for the night was a rip-off for the level of service received.

I missed my flight from Liberty and had to stay the night. I stay at many Holiday Inn properties and this one was better than the normal. Room was good, food in restaurant was nice and business center met my needs. I recommend it.

I found the staff to be very pleasant and the food in the hotel bistro to be fantastic. At the front desk Gerald was very friendly and pleasant. Mike and Crystal in the restaurant were both excellant servers.

It is my third stay at this specific unit; excelent place to rest; excelent food; very good rooms and bed; excelent staff; good price; not as cheap as many others, but, also, not as expensive as some others; the cost x benefit relation is excelent. Definitelly, will come back, if at Newark.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by MP34 Great room, average location, poor service
The rooms here are nicely done- spacious, elegant, very comfortable. Other that that, I do not recommend this hotel. While the website claims that it is across the street from the airport, it does not specify that it actually requires a shuttle to get back and forth to the airport and/or mass transit options...and a slow, unreliable shuttle at that. There were several occasions that required us to wait 20 minutes or more for this shuttle. The worst part of our stay, however, was the customer service. The night shift was especially poor. We waited for quite a long time while the front desk changed shifts, then watched them gossip with one another for a while until they remembered that we still needed to check in. When we woke up early for our 4 am shuttle to the airport, the gentleman at the counter was sleepy and unhelpful. I will not stay here again. There was also very little Rewards Club recognition...we got a bottle of water and that was it.

Quick transfer from(to) airport. Shuttles run basically non-stop. Decent size room. Very pleasant bistro on ground floor. Highly appreciate hotels guaranteeing smoking rooms while online booking. This one does.

Worst hotel I've stayed at in years. Hair in bathroom. Reaked of smoke although requested non-smoking room. Totally ignored by bar and restaurant staff. Would NEVER come back

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Marc13 Good night's sleep
I didn't arrive until almost 10pm and the bar area was alive and hopping. Seemed like a lot of travelers looking for company; if not overnight, at least fro a drink.
Room was clean, quiet and everything worked well. Being only 5 minutes from EWR was key for me to be able to return the car rental and catch an early flight. They have shuttle service, too.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Canuk22 Comfortable, quiet, convenient Airport Hotel
In the middle of a highway "spaghetti junction" very near EWR.
The pick-up/drop off shuttle was quick and convenient.
Very nice staff. Good for an overnight stay prior to flight or moving on to your destination. Recommended.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by CWB2 Lousy Food and Service in Restaurant
The service in the restaurant was terrible. It was slow and with attitude. We asked for a booth and told they were reserved. Because service was so poor and slow we were in the restaurant for 75 minutes. No one ever sat at the booth that was reserved. Other than that the hotel was fine, average all around. Would not stay here again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DrH1895 Convenient, comfortable, friendly
If you are looking for a very comfortable, clean, safe and conveniently located hotel near Newark International Airport and a large shopping mall with variety, I would highly recommend the Holiday Inn Newark. The staff are friendly, professional and the facilities and rooms are spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable and they offered a variety of pillows. This is my second stay there and I will return.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by newsman Staff cares!
Fairly new building in an excellent location across the highway from the Newark Intl Airport. I had business in NJ. But this would be ideal for international travelers needing an overnight or even a day room to get some sleep. Good value for money spent.
This is not a resort location: it's pure function, not fun.
But here is the best thing about the hotel: the staff actually cares about what they are doing and pays attention to the guests. Try to get that anywhere outside of a five-star hotel.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wildernesscamp Many excellent experiences!
I have stayed there numerous times over the past 6 months. Each time I have been there, every single staff member that I have encountered (including housekeeping, restaurant staff and shuttle drivers) has been friendly, helpful and provided me with outstanding customer service. I look forward to staying there each time that I go. The rooms are beautifully renovated and the atmosphere throughout the hotel is very calm and relaxing, as well as immaculately clean. The airport shuttle is always fast and efficient. The restaurant has delicious food with a variety of options. I would recommend this place to everybody. I rarely take the time to offer feedback about experiences that I have had, but this place has gone so above and beyond that I wanted to give them the recognition that they deserve. Thank you.

The key card did not work until I come back and forth between the front desk and room pulling two big bags for 3 times after two hours drive from Connecticut. She even assigned me to an occupied room.

We were caught with plane delays/cancellations and needed a place to stay. I use a cane. We arrived at Newark after 11pm
The shuttle driver was most helpful assisting me especially.
The reservation agent was most pleasant and helpful; smooth check-in.
Restaurant provided one of the best hamburgers I have ever had; staff most pleasant
Room was more than we had expected. Excellent
Having computers available most useful given our needs
Especially given our stranded position and the strain it caused, this was a most welcome experience.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fromoutoftown Do not order the Philly cheese steak
The Philly cheese steak in the dining area does not resemble nor taste like a true Philly cheese steak from the time back when I used to eat them in South Philly. Neither the meat nor the cheese nor the roll is correct.
If you are driving, the hotel can be hard to get to, but it is on a main road, and it is not any harder to get to than any of the other hotels on the same road.

A perfect location to have easy access to Newark Liberty Airport, New Jersey Transit, and rental cars (at the airport).

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JWood Very nice hotel, room clean and comfortable.
Really liked this hotel. We came into Newark, from Texas to catch a cruise out of Cape Liberty. Was leery of neighborhood, but turned out to be just fine. This is a nice hotel and does have food and drinks in lobby. There's also a free shuttle back and forth to the airport. Our only wish was that they would have a shuttle to the cruise pier, would be nice, even if we had to pay for it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by AdoptUsKids Nice, Quiet stay but no free breakfast
This motel has the same quality of reputation of Holiday Inn Express. Rooms are clean, quiet, and well equipped. The shuttle to the airport and back was efficient with frequent departures. Loved the staff....very friendly and helpful. I really appreciated access to printing for airline check in. This particular motel however didn't offer free breakfast. In others, my Priority Club membership not only provided a free breakfast but ALSO a free dinner (Rochester, NY). The extra mile was really appreciated, so it really made Newark Holiday Inn seem wrong for cutting that corner.

We had the honor of being driven to the airport at 5 am by Juan, the most personable service person ever! While my companion was have a hurried smoke, Juan took me inside the hotel for a quick coffe before we departed. He treated me so sweetly, with only my comfort as his first concern. I will return again, if only to visit my new friend!

I would stay here again. Shuttle service was prompt. Check-in was quick. The room was fine - clean with a small sitting area and a desk. Clean, comfortable bed with good pillows. Wifi worked well. I didn't expect it to be as nice as it was as the hotel sits at the intersection of highways 1 and 9, and the train runs right by it (the elevated track and a parking lot was my view). But, I suspect you are picking this hotel for convenience and want a clean place, with service, for a good value, and this place delivered all that and more. I would definitely stay here again.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ram68 Service levels have declined
I was not acknowledged as a Platinum Level Priority Rewards member on check-in. The small "reward" that they hand out in the paper bag is insignificant in value but makes a huge impact on the customer - this was not done.
At the time of check-in, I had asked for an extended check-out at 6 PM on 9th May (clearly stating that I was willing to pay for this). This apparently was not recorded because when I went up to the front desk in the morning at 9.00 AM on 9th May, the lady at the front desk just gave me a blank stare and was unaware of the late check-out. I then proceeded to reconfirm the late check-out with her and confirmed the rate with her. I then get a call in the room at 12.00 PM asking what time I will check out! How difficult is it for somebody to record the time of check-out on the system? I was paying for the extra hours at the day-rate and why is it so difficult to record it?
During this visit, I found the attitude of the people at the front desk quite arrogant.

The staff is the best here! They treated me like I was at a 5 star resort hotel. They gave me excellent information about visiting NYC. The shuttle/train trip from leaving the hotel to getting to Madison Square Gardens took a little over a half hour. The people at the restaurant/bar area were excellent too. I am defiantly staying at this hotel the next time I'm in the area.
