To begin with, there was no direct access to beach. We had to walk 15 minutes crossing a busy 4 lane road twice hauling heavy beach gear to a public beach which was crowded. I had called this hotel prior to my reservation and asked if it sat on the gulf. I was told it sat directly on the gulf, but no mention of no access to the beach from the hotel.
During this same call, I was not informed of a hotel being built next to the holiday inn. I was given a room directly facing the construction. Construction began at 7am with pile drivers sinking large round steel forms into the ground. This would make very loud noises and shake my room. I could not sleep late due to this loud racket. Also I could not go on my balcony due to diesel fumes caused by a large train size diesel generator with ran all day with two large cranes plus misc equipment causing diesel fumes. They worked on Saturday until noon. there was no way I could relax in my room. I stayed wed thru Friday nite.
I asked for a room change away from the construction but was told there were no rooms available. I will not return to this hotel. The staff at this hotel and the reservation staff at the rewards club should inform people of these situations.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by mrsboz bad front desk person -- construction
Hotel would be nice, but we were not made aware of construction going at on hotel. At the prices charged here we should have been made available to it. The front desk people in the morning are not polite, rude and not helpful. Others during other times of day seem very nice. Chris the manager is very nice and tried hard to accommodate.

Clearwater Beach Holiday Inn actually saved our vacation! We had booked at a less expensive option on the beach, and, unfortunately, construction was right outside our window, and so loud it woke me up very early in the morning. I called Holiday Inn, was able to secure a gulf view room for the rest of our vacation. Yes, it did cost a bit more, but it was worth it! The hotel was clean, spacious, quiet. The service from the staff was wonderful. The pool and gulf side accomodations were just what we were looking for. I did not want to leave!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Guest From Kissimmee Perfect Place to stay in Clearwater
We have stayed here for many years. The room is perfect, beds and bedding is always in perfect condition, we get the best rest at this hotel. Very clean and the staff is are very friendly and willing to help out if you need anything.
The only issue we had this time was with the parking. There is a new building going up and the hotel really needs to consider how to better manage the coming and going of the hotel guest. Currently the poor staff is work like crazy to get cars for those leaving and at the same time cars are flooded coming in looking to understand what they just pulled into. Not the best way to start your stay. Once you are in, your good, it just is that entire parking situation that needs to be addressed sooner then latter.

Our family had 2 rooms and had a fantastic time. We rented 4 Jet sky's and had a blast riding on the gulf of Mexico. Saw some Sting rays. This is our 3rd stay at the Hotel and we will be coming here again. Its I nice getaway for the family.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JuneGirl07 Nice family hotel at great location
Stayed here with family, mid-June 2015. Valet parking is convenient and costs 12 USD/day. Unfortunately, there is construction work going on, which means that, if the parking lot is full, you have to drive to the hotel next door yourself, as the valets are not allowed to drive your car on the street. Location is great, if you don't mind walking past the construction site. It is only a 5-10 minute walk to Clearwater Beach and the shops. The front desk staff is very friendly, helpful and efficient. Our room was very clean; our compliments to the housekeeping staff! The beds and pillows are comfy. Air conditioner in the room is quite noisy. The swimming pool is nice, maybe on the small side for a hotel this size. We only had dinner at Jimmy's Fish House and Iguana Bar once: great views of the sunset, great live music, but the food was average. The vegetables served with our fish dish were not fresh and undercooked. Breakfast at Jimmy's also left us a bit disappointed. Apart from cereal with cold milk or some fresh fruit, there were no healthy options. Anyway, we had breakfast at Jimmy's 3 times (because part of it had already been pre-paid), but we were charged different amounts for exactly the same breakfast and drinks each time! This left us confused and wondering if we had been overcharged 2 out of 3 times. Also, other guests were feeding birds at breakfast, in spite of the warning signs put up by the hotel. In general, the rates at this hotel are rather high (if you look at value for money), but maybe this is only the case during high season...
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons and we did have a nice stay. We would stay here again.

Holiday Inn usually has nice locations. However, until the parking lot construction is finished, I would choose another hotel.
