A family event caused us to stay overnight at 'Holiday Inn Colchester'. The hotel choice being down to value, reviews and location. Also the pool was an added attraction as we had had a long day. We had a great stay and could not really fault the staff, facilities and service. Will book again when in the area.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gado Holiday Inn near Colchester
About 3 miles outside of Colchester this Holiday Inn surpasses any I have had occasion to stay at during 2014. Hard to put your finger on exactly what makes me rate it so highly but the staff have a lot to do with it. I think they are all committed to making the hotel shine with its guests and they succeed. Each one of the staff I encountered appeared happy in their work. Professional and customer focussed they are doing a great job.

Stayed at The Holiday Inn in conjunction with friends renewal of vows. we had a fantastic celebration which was helped along by all the front of house and associated staff. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them, considering the majority were I should say in their early twenties they all showed professionalism, also the majority of the staff were local to the area, Our thanks to all the staff

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bunk 46 First class staff but scanderlous wine prices
Why does the management think it justified to charge a minimum 18 pounds for an ordinary run of the mill bottle of red wine which we all can purchase from our local supermarket for 5 pounds. To add insult to injury a 250 mil glass was 7.50 pence would you believe!!! .With food I can fully accept that I should pay for the chefs expertise as on both nights of our stay we paid approximately 12 pounds for a mouth watering tasty meal which I have no problem with.I mentioned the above to the restaurant management who appeared to accept the point being made.It was noticeable there was an absence of wine bottles on adjoining diners tables.
Whilst the above wrankles it did not diminish the real plus in that all of the workforce from the front desk, bar and restaurant staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and efficient;possibly the best staff I have encountered home or abroad

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ron Oc Convenient for visiting Colchester
Had a peaceful time at the Holiday Inn Colchester.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
Breakfast can be a little on the pricey side if there are four of you as teenagers do not qualify for the kids eat free, however there are other outlets available across the A12.
Very convenient for visiting colchester zoo, castle and Beth Chatto Garden. (by car)

The staff at this hotel were outstanding! They were all friendly and helpful and were never too busy to give you very attentive service. The room was very clean and comfortable and it was good to have a choice of pillows. The food was of good quality and there was ample choice both for dinner and breakfast. The chef was available at breakfast to cook anything not readily available and keep the hot food hot and fresh.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
