Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by What has happened? A very different Holiday Inn to when we last stayed there. We have been frequent guests here over several years but it just was not the same place. The quality of the food has really gone down despite the new glossy menu, and generally apart from Ashley the service was not very welcoming at all. Had to wait a long time for food and the breakfast in particular was very sparse and having one small domestic toaster for the whole restaurant was ridiculous. Ingredient quality seems to have gone down hill and we normally enjoy our breakfasts here but we couldn't get out of the place quick enough. The check out was excellent and very friendly and efficient.. When we last stayed we left the staff gifts thanking them for looking after us so well over the years we had always received so we are not habitual complainers. Now getting worried about our next booking at another Holiday Inn and our planned stay at a Crown Plaza. The rooms are in need of refurbishing for a long time but the friendliness of the staff and restaurant experience have always aloud us to overlook this. March 27, 2015

The rooms are spacious and the bar and restaurant serve great food. Staying here with business and I would certainly recommend it ! March 3, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Caring staff My daughter who is an IHG member made the booking and paid for my stay as I moved house that day and she felt that Holiday Inn Colchester would look after me after a stressful day. She was absolutely right. The staff were exceptionally kind and I had a relaxing evening and slept very well, had a good breakfast and was fresh and ready to complete my move the next day.
