As ever as very comfartable stay. Sadly the car park lighting was all out, and view from our room, which is usually very attractive, was blighted by the presence of two very large industrial sized skips!

From the moment we arrived at the hotel, the staff were all very polite and welcoming. Our room was clean and the blackout curtains worked a treat. The 40th birthday party we attended was excellent and again all of the staff were very good at their jobs. Highly recommend this hotel.

We have friends in Colchester that we visit regularly and usually stay in this hotel. I booked online through the hotel website and I thought I had booked a double room. We rushed straight out after booking in and didn't actually go to the room so when we got back around mid-night we were disappointed to find we had two singles rather than a double room. I went to reception whereas the lady booked us straight into one of their Executive Double Rooms and swipped my debit card (even though I had already given my details of a credit card when originally booking#. On entering the Executive Room was quite disappointed at the tired décor, dirty bathroom #hairs on the floor, toilet didn't look like it had been cleaned# and the fact that the radiator was on full blast - like a sauna. No complimentary robes or slippers and no choice of pillows.... however Im guessing this is because it was a late night swap ! Wooden pull to window coverings were very unstable and in the end we didn't bother pulling them fully closed as we had to sleep with the windows open as the room was so hot. My real gripe though is this, the hotel swiped my debit card and I have found out since that it is still holding £50 on this #Im guessing for damage etc), its now Wednesday and I would have thought this was have been refunded by now. Just beware this happens - even to IHG members.

My stays are business reasons hence may not suit anyone having a break or holiday. Comfortable rooms great staff but issues with lack of staff in dinning.
Staff overworked and may not appear as attentive at times but hey who would be having worked back to back shifts. The member of staff who serves you gone 22.00 hours may be the same one serving you your cup of coffee at 06.30 in the morning having finished their shift gone midnight so fellow guests take it easy on criticism of staff and management at the very top should have to deal with any complaints.

Terribly run Restaurant. They ran out of Steak and Wine during our stay. Service was abysmal. There were 3 staff on the floor trying to serve a full restaurant. The maître d'hôtel was useless (sorry but she was). I've stayed in numerous Holiday Inns over the years and without doubt the dining experience here was the worst ever.
We waited 20 minutes to order our drinks, it then took another 15 for them to arrive and a further 35 minutes for the food to arrive.

LA chambre est fort confortable et la proximité de la voie ferrée reste gênante par la fréquence des trains.
La TV propose de nombreuse chaines indisponibles car "pas de signal".
