When I checked in I was giving room 422, when I entered it , I immediately smelled cigarette smoke and a stale smell, there was a huge stain on the carpet right by the bed that needed to be cleaned with a carpet cleaner. I called the front desk and the lady was very kind she switched me to another room and asked me to come get new keys, this new room was better but the carpet seems old and dirty i kept my shoes on. That night I was watching TV , and I looked down and seen a huge roach crawling towards my bed. It creeped me out. I will not stay her again. I was disappointed as I am a loyal customer and was very unhappy.

Great hotel and if I were not using rewards points it would have been a great value. I will stay there again given the chance.

Staff could have been more responsive and knowledgeable. The pool was closed, but no one could identify why.

I really enjoyed this hotel and the breakfast that they provided. The only thing that I did not like about the room was it was a bit dusty. With dark color wood it will show up very easily, but overall I truly enjoyed my stay and will stay again when visiting my family.

We stay here twice a year on the way through and find the place more than meeting our needs. It is clean, and up to date. The staff is friendly and professional. Breakfast is typical of the chain; okay, but could use a little updating.

On day of departure, housekeeper kept asking us when we were leaving. She kept knocking on our door despite the "do not disturb" sign hanging on the doorknob. Upon returning from breakfast, she hollered down the hall at us asking if we were leaving yet. Each time we told her we would be leaving no later than 11am.

We stayed on 2 separate occasions both 1 week apart on a Saturday night
First Saturday night I paid $99
Second Saturday night I paid $103 assuming I would only pay $99
I was told that your prices fluctuate daily which I totally do not agree

The best thing about this nights' stay was the staff. Front desk people were friendly, polite and efficient. Likewise the breakfast staff.
As for the room, not so good. A/C was quite loud when it came on.
Bathroom vent fan was loud and squeaky.
The bed linens did not appear to have been made up properly but it was OK for sleeping.

This is our third stay at a Holiday Express, two of them being at this one. All have been good experiences, the rooms are large and roomy and the beds very comfortable. The pillows on the bed are so soft and nice. All in all I will come back again!

I had reasonable expectations of this establishment that were disbanded after checking out. I would say that the young lady that was responsible for the breakfast area did a phenomenal job! I was very disappointed with the structure of this facility.

The overall experience was good but the cleanliness of the room was not good. They had told us that the whole motel had just been redone but they must have used amateurs in our bathroom. The room looked like it had not been dusted or the sweeper run. The clock on the end table was the worse, it looked like it had not ever been cleaned.

When I travel My normal choice is always a Holiday Inn unless there is not one to be found.
One of the HIEs we chose on our way to Florida was a disappointment; first the reception person said my Priority Club number was invalid - meaning I had to hand over all kinds of info delaying my check-in; next he forgot to give me the goodie bag; then he promised that he would resolve my Priority Club number challenge. When the bill arrived under the door - my Priority Club number was not listed. I went down to the front desk and someone promptly fixed the challenge.
The breakfast area was poorly stocked; no spoons, cold scrambled eggs, no coffee at one point; no fruit at one point; dirty.
Clearly the hotel was not prepared to be nearly full.
I won't be staying there again .....

The bottom sheet would not stay in place. Kept coming loose next to the headboard. The elastic on the sheet was non existent hence it kept coming loose. Would wake up and I would be sleeping on the mattress. Got up and remade the bed several times and went back to sleep.
The loud traffic noise woke me up several times during the night and it was hard getting back to sleep. I don't know why I always get a room on the Interstate side of this hotel. Maybe I do not pay enough and there is an unwritten rule the AARP members get a cheaper rate and management places them in the less desirable rooms next to the Interstate.

I would like to start by saying what this hotel is doing right, breakfast. It was very well done, someone was there making sure all stayed clean and filled. The rest is unacceptable. My first question to the check in clerk was " are the beds comfortable, my husband has a bad back" Contrary her reply "yes", They were one of the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept on. The room was FILTHY! Dust covered everything, there were fruit loops behind the chair in the room, that had been there quite a while because they too had dust on them. I thought because there was construction this may not be the norm until i saw the bathroom, there was a rotted part in the bathtub, stains on the walls, it was not the quality I expected from Holiday Inn.

My wife and I travel to Fl. and back home and this HIE is mid-way for us. Their comfortable beds and quiet rooms allow us to relax before continuing on. The staff has always been very cheery and helpful to us. We get no surprises and thoroughly enjoy our stay. The morning breakfast is always great and the people very attentive to our needs. Never thought of staying anywhere else!

I was perfectly Ok with the rooms and the service. What has happened though is, I booked 2 rooms for Dec 19th for on our way to Florida. My daughter and children then could not come so I changed that reservation to 1 room. No problem. At that same time I cancelled our reservation for Jan3,2014 for 2 rooms on our way back from Florida again because my daughter and children were not coming with us and we knew we could drive further than that on our first day of our return. I called direct to Blythewood and I cannot find my written cancellation number so I am out the money for 2 rooms on that date. What doesn't make sense is I only had the 1 room for Dec 19th so that 1 room did get cancelled. We own 2 weeks at Holiday Inn Vacation Club. Because ,way after the fact , I cannot find the cancellation number, I am being penalized for the cost of 2 rooms.
I am extremely upset over this matter.

By far the nicest place we've stayed for the value. The staff was extremely courteous. The hotel was clean and roomy. The breakfast had a wide selection of fresh foods available. An overall A+ experience, even with having seven children!

I had a room at one end of the "wing" we were in. WiFi was not accessible from the room, but worked in the lobby. Therefore, there was poor coverage in some of the rooms.

This is a convenient location as we were traveling north to WV.
We were very disappointed with 2 issues--the first being NOISE!
It was like the folks next door were in the room with us. Secondly, I am not sure that our room had been cleaned thoroughly from the previous guests. I pulled the shower curtain back and a dirty wash cloth fell from the shower bar. There was dirt and hair in the tub. After 2 attempts to call the front desk with no answer, I just cleaned it myself. ( I carry Clorox wipes with me!) We were very tired and it just seemed easier.

I felt like my room was being forgotten. Not serviced twice. Bath towels and rags not left twice. When I told night clerk they didn't seem to care.
