The front desk person was very nice and efficient, however, he was a bit overwhelmed when a large group of us arrived to check in at the same time. October 31, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and comfortable I stay for 5 days and I was mostly pleased with my stay here. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. I was have given some of the rankings higher such as sleep quality and able to relax higher but there were some noise issues . There was some sort of repair happening at the building and a couple of the days it woke me up. I was also working a weird schedule while in town so I was sleeping when most people weren't. So I realize they probably chose a time that most people would have been awake or not in their rooms. The maids were also pretty noisy on a couple nights. Doors slamming when cleaning rooms and cell phones going off in the hallway. One of my co-workers said something to the front desk and I felt like the maids were more quiet the rest of the stay. I doubt the workers are going to be there often so I wouldn't avoid staying here because of that. I'd stay again. October 19, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value for a Homecoming Stay Stayed at this Holiday Inn for the block of rooms provided for an Advisory Board meeting. Definitely more updated since the last time I stayed at the property using my IHG Honors points at the time and was very disappointed with the state of the room I was given. The bed was very comfortable and I like how Holiday Inn brands tend to have a choice between Firm and Soft pillows. My girlfriend prefers soft, while I prefer firm so it worked out nicely. We didn't get a chance to sample the breakfast buffet provided since we were there for Homecoming, but wanted to sleep before heading out. Notified the hotel staff that our fridge was not cooling our items properly, but rather freezing them upon checkout. They took note of it and managed to fix it. Considering all the environmental conservation efforts being implemented at the University of Iowa, it would have been nice to see the same efforts (e.g. recycling, composting, water conservation, etc) at this hotel; however, I did not see any ways to make this happen. I also made note of this to the staff and was received kindly. October 16, 2014

The staff was fantastic. The food was excellent. ALL of our guests commented on how great the food was and how the staff, everyone from the front desk, catering staff, bartenders, waiters, events cordinators and hotel cleaning staff were so helpful. It was a wonderful experience and with your help you made her wedding such a wonderful day. Thanks again Rebecca and Walter for all your help during the day and that evening.. September 24, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stay at Holiday inn The staff was friendly. This is my second stay. The hotel seemed very humid and damp and I could not figure out why. There was also some maintenance going on in the main hallway with men working in the middle of the hall. Seemed like a safety hazard to me. The food at the restaurant was pretty good but the server was not very attentive. Not sure if I will utilize that option again. September 16, 2014

We only stayed there because the wedding party did, but I would not pay that much for lack of what we received. I have stayed in hotels that nice before and paid less which included the breakfast. The hotel was well maintained, staff was the friendliest that I've encountered, even to the point of calling the room to make sure everything was satisfactory within 15 minutes of arrival. As the hotel is pet friendly and well maintained and clean, I could practically live there. One of the best stays on my trip. Breakfast was better than most hotels. September 8, 2014

We find this location to be quite and comfortable, allowing us to get a good night's rest. My wife and I both commented on how comfortable the beds are. We are typically arriving late and departing early, so we haven't had the opportunity to interact with staff other than the front desk. They have been courteous and efficient. August 28, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Needs updating Conveniently located off I-80, this hotel is situated near major medical facilities and shopping plazas. The primo parking spaces reserved for IHG Reward Members in front are a big plus. Inside, the lobby is bright and attractive; the front desk staff is courteous and professional. This hotel has some issues, though. The main hallway smelled musty, and the carpet looked soiled in many places. Our room was clean but had some obvious wear and tear (patched walls, carpet stains). Slippers were definitely required. The queen beds were comfortable enough. The small bathroom had good-quality towels, but the hairs on the floor made it seem unclean. The fridge and microwave were welcome conveniences, and the huge HDTV had plenty of channels, but the Internet connection was unreliable. The biggest issue was hallway noise--loud talking and door slamming--that persisted until well after midnight, even after we notified the front desk. We appreciated being recognized as Platinum Rewards Club Members and receiving our no-hassle Reward Night; however, we won't be returning--even with the lure of a free night's stay-- until after this hotel is renovated.
