This is a very tired hotel and is desperate for a revamp.

I use holiday Inns quite a bit for business. I found the staff to be very friendly, although when I booked my room, I booked a double, but when I arrived I was given a twin room, but had been upgraded to an executive room. I would sooner have had a standard double room than a twin executive room. It has been many years since I have slept in a single bed, and did not enjoy the experience. The hotel generally was very shabby, and in urgent need of having some money spent on it to bring it up to standard. The corridors were in need of decoration, and the room furniture was past it's best.
Worst of all was the lounge furniture in the bar, which actually had the stuffing hanging out of it.
The road noise heard from the room at night, even with the window tightly closed, was loud enough to spoil my sleep Another odd thing was that the bed side lamps would only work when the bathroom light is turned on !!!! I found this very strange, as the only way to read in bed without having to get up to turn lights off was to leave the bathroom light on.
On the plus side, all the staff were very good, and the food in the restaurant was a very good standard, with daily changing menu choices.
I will stay at this hotel again, but not until it has had a complete re-fit, as the nightly rate charged at the moment is certainly not in keeping with the general condition of the interior.

Road noise really bad, double glazing offered little or no sound suppression.
Was woken at 9am by housekeeper even though I had placed the do not disturb card on the door, after working through the night and getting to bed at 4:30am I was extremely annoyed to be woken at that time. I had even spoke to the reception staff while checking in that I would like to left as I was working locally through the night.
Really disappointing experience, should have slept in the car and saved myself and the money
