We splurged on a view room and really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The room was nice, but overpriced for the Memorial day weekend and the Texas coast. It was relaxing with 2 problems. First, there was a rowdy group of kids and adults screaming and wild down on the beach playing volleyball, etc. until after 11:00. There ought to be some sort of time that the activity needs to end--like 10:00 p.m. We had to keep our patio door closed due to the noise and couldn't sit outside and enjoy the evening air. Secondly, my daughters went to the desk to get new wrist bands and were treated like trash. I had to go to the desk myself and ask why they couldn't be given new bands as promised when we checked in. The other bands had come off in the hot tub after a full day of wear. Young woman at the desk was extremely rude to me and them and demanded that we turn in the old ones before we would be issued new ones.
You need to rake the beach and spend more time cleaning. I watched the crew pick up trash which I commend, but other hotels with beaches rake them to get all the trash. For these prices, you should have a cleaner beach.

Attended a baseball tournament in CC and this hotel was great for all the kids! Only complaint I would have is that we had four people in our room and each day they only supplied three clean towels! I had to go to the front desk each day to get extra towels. Should ALWAYS supply room with at least four towels when that is the max occupancy!

Nice beach getaway from San Antonio. Med cost for family including pet. Not the high cost of South Beach nor the rowdiness of spring break locations. Great location to relax and play with the family.

As a Business traveler, I need a good work out facility and business center. These were closed for my 2 nights there. The Hotel is Old and musty. It needs major renovation. I was very disappointed and will never stay here again.

paid a lot of money for pool side, even with AARP discount, assigned a second floor room with no elevator, stairs are a problem for AARP age people, facility was full due to a special event, we were told if we left the facility to go out to eat or other sight seeing ventures we might not have a place tp park upon return, basically stuck at facility

I travel in my business, and I haven't found any hotel like the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach. Everything from the food, to the bar, to the comfort of the rooms is excellent. Where this location shines beyond others is the hospitality of the staff. From top to bottom they make you feel like family! From the "welcome" when you arrive to the "see you next time" when you leave, the employees insure your stay is enjoyable.
Unfortunately, after August this hotel will no longer be a Holiday Inn. I'll hate not receiving my HI points, but I will not leave my friends here on Shore Line Drive. I anxiously await the new face at the Emerald Beach!!!!

An older property, but the hotel is in excellent condition due, no doubt , to the managment and staff.

It's an older Hotel, but it's got nice rooms. I thought everything about the room was great except for 1 thing: location of the rooms on the property. I'm going to write more about the room location issue, but i want to stress that, aside from those rooms, it is a good hotel with clean rooms, mini fridge, spacious rooms, and a great view of the Bay.
To explain the room location problem, my room was right in-between 2 elevator doors. So, people coming and going during all hours came by my room and waited for the elevator literally right outside my door. The conversations outside my door could have been a real problem if they had occurred while I was sleeping or trying to have a romantic night in the room. I also noticed the hot tub and pool area have rooms right next to them. No sleeping in those rooms - kids will be in the pool area bright and early to wake you up!
Aside from those 2 building design flaws, I can't think of a reason not to stay here if you're looking for something in downtown Corpus.

I travel a lot with my job. I am a priority club platinum member. I have never had such a bad experience at any hotel i've ever stayed at. This was my second time staying at this hotel and both were the same.
My first experience was not at all a good one. My 1st night when i arrived as i was walking down the hall to my room what did i see? A hallway littered with pizza boxes, empty beer cases, and teenagers laying around. Not a good 1st impression. My room had a damp smell. It was outdated. Paint was chipping. My shower head barley sprayed water. Felt like i was in high school on spring break at a cheep hotel. Thats exactly how it was maintained. I was working nights so i was sleeping during the day. The room i was put in was right next to the outside tiki bar where a live band played music every weekend. I asked to be moved to a different room several times but kept being told there was nothing available. The staff had a dont care attitude and was not helpful at all. Any other hotel would bend over backwards to accommodate in some kind of way. Not Here. I checked out early and moved to a competitors hotel. Upon check out i explained the situation and was met with the same dont care sorry bout your luck attitude. No apology was ever given.
In spite of all that i thought i would give it another try a year later. My reservation was made for 41 days. When i checked in i could tell nothing had changed. Same outdated smelly rooms. Same spring break vibe. Same dont care attitude staff. I checked out after a week and went to a competitors hotel. I will never stay or waste my money at this hotel again when i can get a much nicer room and better service elsewhere.

The Hotel is very nice. We really liked that the beach is right out the back door. The rooms are nice and clean but too expensive. i can get the same size room with a Fridge and Microwave in it for half the price at other Hotels. The rooms offer nothing special. No place to warm up Food or cool something. There are no Washers or Dryers. We had to drive quite a ways to do laundry. No Laundry service on weekends and not everybody wants there clothes to be washed by Strangers. The Restaurant closes in the afternoons. That is not good because not everybody is hungry at the same time and the place should stay open since there is nothing else nearby. We liked the fact that we were able to bring our Dog and on the second morning we were there, we walked our Dog early and there were empty Beer Cans and Food Wrappers/Leftovers all over the Lobby Area. Never seen that anywhere before. Pretty bad. To get to the pool we had to walk across a construction site and the pool hours were not that great. If anybody wants to swim a few laps before Breakfast. Not at that Hotel. Good was that most attractions are nearby, The staff was helpful and the room cleaning ladies were about the nicest and most helpful I have ever met. To sum it up. Add a few washers and dryers, put a Fridge and Microwave in each room and keep the place a bit cleaner. Then it would be worth the money I paid. The final thing is that people need to watch there credit cards. This hotel secures money for room service and stuff just in case you use it. Then it takes about 3 days to adjust it after check out. In my book that is wrong. I should not have to deposit money for something I'm not planning on using. The Guest should be told about this at check-in.

Traveled to Corpus for Business, upon checking in the young lady at the front desk informed me since I was a priority Platinum member I had an upgrade available. My upgrade was to a Cabana room on the ground level, upon entering the room the view of the ocean just a hundred feet away was simply beautiful. As I opened the patio doors, the ocean smell and the sounds of the waves made me forget how stressful the day had been. The friendly staff and the property are one of the reasons I will continue to come back from now on

My stay was average which is to stay it was acceptable. If it was not for its location I most likely would not return but I will be back. My one key complaint was the stiffness of the beds. It made it hard to get a good nights rest--mattress pillows would help--none available at front desk.

Gary and Harriet(room 505/Mar 26-30)
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for taking care of us during our stay last week. Everyone was so welcoming and made us feel at home. Ruby, our housekeeper, is such a fine lady i.e. a pleasant smile on her face, very efficient, kind and helpful. She is an asset to your business!!
Upon arriving home, I couldn't find a necklace/earrings. I called and talked to the housekeeper still on duty at 7pm Sat Mar 30(sorry I didn't get her name). She talked to Ruby and she did't find it and she said she completely went through the room, all around the TV, etc. Later I thought I'd look in the lining of my suitcase and there it was. I called back to the hotel and asked the gentleman at the desk to let Ruby and the housekeeper I spoke with, know and to thank her.
Thank you, Holiday Inn, for such quality staff.........Harriet

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed13 Rude and lying front desk staff
This was a shocker and ruined my image regarding Holiday Inn general and associated hotel brand names. The front desk male person will refuse to listen when I tried to make him understand the purpose of my phone call to the hotel directly. When I asked for some one else who has patience to hear me out, he hung up on me. When I called again, a female voice answered. I asked her who was I talking with earlier, she refused to give me his ful name. But finally she made up a name "Michael". When i arrived at the property and I asked for the manager, the manager came and told me that there is no one name Michael. I realized that the female voice I talked with, was a part of a cover-up operation. Such rude and lying staff shall not be a part of hospitality industry. Further more, We were given the worst possible accomodation that appeared to take a revenge by the front desk staff. I had requested the highest floor with the best available ocean view, but I received the exactly opposite. All this happened after them knowing that I was a frequent guest with Priority Club level.
Food: The $ 12 breakfast buffet is no more than a usual standrad breakfast that you get FREE at other hotels. House cleaning staff was ill informed about number of guests staying in the room and had insufficient toilettaries including towels. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL.

I have been to this hotel twice and had the worse experience. Door cards not working to hotel and workout room. Took 3 times. Then the toilet would not stop running. No water pressure. I have to return in April as I already Pre-paid. However I will not be retuning back to that hotel.

I loved how the hotel was right on the water. Although,I was on the beach and then I wanted to go into the hotel hot tub, but I didn't have my wrist band with me. The staff made me go back down to the lobby and get new ones. It was inconvenient for us.

The hotel is huge it has 3 separate buildings. The indoor pool and game area was within view of the outdoor patio bar which is great for watching the kids. The beach front in Chorpus was a bit chilly and windy, but there were many brave families enjoying the clean sand beaches off the patio.
On the down side it is a little old and sound travels well through the halls and under the door. Light sleepers beware.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Jeremy01 As expected
My family stayed at this Holiday Inn hotel primarily for 2 reasons, one was that it was situated on the beach and two because it had an indoor pool. There are other nicer and cleaner hotels for less money in the area, but most of these would require a short drive to the beach. So that is a definite plus from our standpoint. I thought the bedding was relatively fresh and comfortable and the tv was newer as well. However, there are some definite problems with the hotel, and given that this was Spring Break, they stood out. Number one: The hotel has a grossly inadequate elevator system. They are old, small and there is only two of them. Obviously this is not something easily resolved but it is ridicuously bad for a hotel that size. Number two: The restaurant food quality and service is mediocre to bad. We stayed there for 4 nights, and had horrible experiences in the restaurant. Even though kids eat free, it still isn't worth it. Number three: The hotel walls and corridors are dated and smell a bit musty, a good coat of paint would be great. Number four: The pool needs some level of supervison. There are 100's of kids without adults that were going crazy.
Yes, I probably would come back to this hotel, but it would be nice if they cleaned it up a bit.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Xzaviar2000 Great getaway for family and kids!!
The hotel itself was nice and the staff was excellent. My kids had a wonderful time and enjoyed their stay. The beauty of this hotel is having an indoor pool and play center which the kids are able to use well into the night. The beach access is private and a few steps outside the door of the hotel. The only area which we had problems was our room. As a platinum member I requested a room upgrade and was moved to a different room that was the same as our previous. I was disappointed with the room conditions. The beds were soft, but there were no refrigerator.

There are no refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms. My shower did not work properly, I had to pull hard and reposition the device in the faucet in order to have the water come out the shower head. My last stay there, a few months ago, only one elevator was working which made it difficult on everybody.

friendlytexan Have stayed here several times and it is always consistent
I have stayed at this hotel several times and everything is always consistent for me. Although the hotel is an older one the rooms are always clean and the beds are always comfortable. This particular trip was a business trip and I did not spend much time in the room, but I have brought my family to this place before and they enjoy the indoor pool and the beach. Since I was near the water and would be arriving late I opted for paying the additional price of the room with a balcony and view, instead of seeing if there were any Club upgrades when I got there. The balcony for this room was not particular large, but since I came in late and left early just getting to see and hear the water before I went to bed and then again in the morning was enough for the few hours I was there. If I was going to stay longer I probably would have asked for a corner room on the east side, so I could see the sunrise.
