Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Worst room I have ever had! I stay in hotels about 50-70 nights a year for the last 20 years. I can say this was the worst room I have ever had. The carpet was completely worn and dirty and the furniture should have been thrown out a long time ago. This hotel is being renovated, so if you get a renovated room room you are OK, but the rooms that have not been renovated should not be sold, or if they are, they should not go for more than $50 a night. The location is great, so if you stay there, demand a renovated room or take your business elsewhere. November 15, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Overcharged I booked in advance at a price that was non refundable, when I arrived a different room was given, one much smaller that is cheaper but a customer decided to stay longer and my room was given to him, I didn't get my deluxe king room with panoramic view and pull out sofa, I tried to argue with my email in hand and they said sorry we don't have that room available, I called 800 number only to waste my time, at 10pm arrival time I had no choice but to stay, could not leave the next day because I payed a non refundable room rate, and they didn't even have the room I payed for. The staff at the front desk have no manners. November 13, 2013

BUT I've been a priority club member for over 30 years and this was the very first time I was told there was no room ready for me. It was almost 4 pm when I checked in and the desk staff made no attempt to help me they just said they'd been busy with check ins and woud call me when my room was ready. They were checking others in while I had to wait. They didn't even call me till I called to complain an hour later. I tried to call the customer service number on my new IHG rewards card and got shuffled to several differnet numbers , never speaking to any person. I've been brand loyal to HI through Priority club for a very long time but I think I will start staying more at my other rewards club hotel . They seem to care more about guests! THe desk staff here didn't even greet me as a member. Very Very Disappointed November 13, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not for business or pleasure I am an IHG Platinum member so I stay in lots of IHG properties. This is an old hotel that needs to be remodeled and it appears that they are in the process in various places, but not in the rooms. They are charging resort rates for rooms that have stained carpets, worn out fixtures, and even a broken iron and board. They are now charging $10 per night for parking in the unattended parking garage, a fee that was previously waived for IHG members, not to mention that there are no upgrades or even a bottle of water provided to IHG members. The location is great, but there are much cleaner and nicer properties available in the same area for less. November 6, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Service After a 5 hour drive to this hotel for a weekend away with my husband, we arrived and checked in. The hotel staff was indifferent and behaved as though I was taking up their time by simply checking in. After a quick nap, we awoke to find the nightstands and desk completely covered in ANTS. I went downstairs and requested to be moved to another room. Again I was treated with an air of indifference and actually ignored while the two front desk people had a private giggly chat. Don't bother calling room service, they never answer. Best part of this hotel is the bell boy. He needs a promotion. I will stay somewhere else next time. October 27, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nice facility , poor staff The hotel is a nice property. They do charge a parking fee for this property; $10 per day for self park and $15 per day for valet parking. They also seem to have a weak management team as the staff is not professional. When I arrived, I found that a motorcycle rally was taking place at the same time I was there. While I am a motorcycle rider myself and have no issues or concerns with their company, I found the entire valet parking area was full of motorcycles. When I was able to find a spot to park near by, I had to hunt down the valet parking staff. I doscovered they were camped out in the hotel bar watching tv... Front desk staff were pleasant and made it to my room and found it nice and clean. I did wish they had a few more accessible electric outlets to plug in phones and computers to recharge. Only one was found and was not within reach of the desk... Next day my wife and I were heading out for our day's activities after a lovely breakfast in the hotel restaurant. My wife headed to the valet parking attendant to have them bring our vehicle up while I went to take care of the breakfast bill. I arrived about 5 minutes later to find my wife a bit perplexed as there was once again no valet parking attendant. A quick trip to the front desk resulting in the attendant once again emerging from the Bar where he was watching his favorite TV show... After we enjoyed our day, we returned once again to find no available room to park my vehicle for valet parking due to parked motorcycles blocking the drive. Once again I had to find a place to park my car near by, unload my bags, and embark in the search for the elusive but predictable parking attendant. Once again he was found in the Bar after a quick check at the front desk... That evening, the wife and I ordered room service. The food was very prompt and well prepared and played well. We enjoyed our meal and left the room service tray and dishes in the room. The next morning we embarked on our daily adventures. I won't go into all the details, but we have just started going to the Bar to get our vehicle as that now seems to be the preferred hang out of the valet staff instead of the valet stand... When we returned, and after fetching the valet attendant from the bar to park our car again, we returned to our room to find it cleaned up with the exception of having a tray of dirty dishes sitting on the floor from the night before. Bottom line is this lovely hotel that has been and is undergoing a good renovation. The management of the property needs to either turn around the staff or be replaced with someone that can. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Renovate first then open I was here for a conference and this hotel was used for overflow. The first room I had smelled like smoke and or just musty, not sure. The second room I had the carpet was beige and the stains were horrific. The third room had floral carpet so unsure of any stains. The mattress felt uneven so I slept diagonally. I told the front desk I am not a person that complains about things, but I just felt disgusted about the cleanliness. Before I settled on the third room the front desk had someone let me look at two additional rooms. They told me the carpets had been shampooed, but you just do not feel comfortable taking your shoes off when the carpets look like that. I understand the hotel had been bought from another hotel chain and had apparently been open for a year. My thinking is why open to the public when the property is such a mess. The staff was nice and even called me on my phone and wanted to give me a gift. I declined the gift because I do understand you are trying to renovate, but you should not have opened until you had finished. I have stayed in other Holdiay Inns and they have been clean and nice. I will probably not stay at this particular Holdiay Inn again if it has taken over a year to renovate and it still looks like it does now. I did not eat at the hotel, but the prices did seem a little high. If you could ever finish renovating I might recommend it, but not at this point. October 17, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Finish the Upgrades Please Corpus Christi and this Holiday Inn both will hopefully benefit from an increase in tourists and events such as the Roar by the Shore BikeFest we just enjoyed last weekend. The Holiday Inn is in desperate need of updates. The carpets and rooms showed the wear and tear. The staff were great, the food and drinks were great but the place is one bad example for Holiday Inn due to the condition of the premises. We want the area to be successful and for that Holiday Inn to get fixed up to the normal Holiday Inn standard. Customers and employees will both be happier. October 16, 2013

We would stay here again the only thing I would complain about is I ask for a fridge twice and never got it. Otherwise great hotel. A major plus plus was the Starbucks in the hotel thank you. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good and bad Check in went ok but they did not acknowledge my rewards club status at any point during my stay. Breakfast in the restaurant was mediocre at best with a bagel and coffee coming in at $7 plus. Service was very slow and almost every day I had to ask repeatedly for things. One day (when the conference let out and everyone headed for the hotel) I got into the lobby and the line for the elevators was 40 plus people long. The staff broke us into groups and shuttled some groups up the staff elevator to speed us getting to our rooms and I want to commend them for this. This was above and beyond and much appreciated. I wish I had gotten their names to thank them personally. Upon check out the front desk staff (and manager) told me they were not recognizing my confirmed rate (I had a printed copy of my confirmation). When asked about this they said the state rate had gone up “and the other hotels were doing it.” I showed them the printed confirmation and they just said there is nothing we can do – I mentioned they could have mentioned this at my check in. All they could say was “sorry.” While I was loading my motorcycle to leave the manager who said she couldn’t do anything for me (who was parked ridiculously close to my motorcycle and yes I was parked there before she parked) was leaving and opened her car door hitting the side of my motorcycle. Without an apology she got in her car and left. I figured it was good my stay there was over. I will stay somewhere else next time. October 14, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Inept service at restaurant Two different conferences were booked at the hotel. One in the hotel and one that used HI as an overflow hotel. I have attended many conferences in Corpus and there is no place for breakfast except the hotel or a very limited choice in the coffee shop. Day one, I counted no more than ten tables occupied in the restaurant and several had been served already, the waitstaff was too few and too inexperienced to even handle ten tables. Most people ate at the self serve breakfast bar and the staff still couldn't keep up. My waitress couldn't make correct change. Day two, thought I would give them another try. The "please wait to be seated" sign was in the lobby, 25 feet from sight of the restaurant and unmanned. After a while the manager came and seated the single ahead of us and took quite a while to return to seat us. I ate the overpriced (16.00) breakfast bar again and my coworker ordered an omelet. 45 minutes later, I was done and the omelet hadn't arrived and the waiter was no where to be found. I told my coworker to leave for the conference and I would express our displeasure and pay the bill (for mine only) several minutes passed and no waiter. I left 20.00 and was walking out when he arrived with the omelet, close to an hour after it was ordered. There were no more than 8 tables this time and most eating from the buffet. Horrible, horrible staffing. Horrible management. Multiple conferences, high occupancy and time crunched guests means ADD MORE STAFF for those couple of days. Mr. Manager, WAIT SOME TABLES YOURSELF to help out. Hotel itself was fine except for the goofy elevator panel. Again, multiple guests on multiple floors. If more than three floors were pushed, the elevator returned to the lobby after reaching the lowest floor. Also, after enduring the return to the lobby and making to my floor, MY KEY WAS DEACTIVATED. and had to return to the lobby to get it re-coded along with at least 20 other guests. October 13, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dirty, dirty, dirty This property was recently acquired from another hotel chain and it appears it was neglected prior to the sale. The carpets, walls, and furnishings show dirt, wear, and lack of care. The first room I was given was filthy and should not have been listed as ready for occupancy. The second room smelled damp and musty and the reason became readily apparent as soon as I removed my shoes... The carpet was damp in several areas and showed many stains. The third room was at least clean, but room service was marginal throughout my four day stay. One positive note: the bed was very comfortable. October 13, 2013

The event went off flawlessly and in no small part without the help of the staff which displayed immense patience, flexibility, and willingness to support the event. The staff is to be commended for an outstanding example of customer service with smiles and positive attitudes in their effort to ensure we got exactly what we wanted and ensuring a successful and memorable event. Well Done, Holiday Inn! CON: If I had an issue it would be the dirty carpets, but I understand the hotel is being revitalized/remodeled and the building conditions are consistent with any beach front type location.
