....................and Holiday Inn is not a budget hotel chain.
I stayed at Holiday Inn because once, decades ago, they ( alone ) cashed a travelers check for me, even though I wasn't their guest.
When the company itself has a policy that is on your side, you're in good company.

We found my family stuck on their way home to Pittsburgh, PA due to terrible weather. Roads coverd in ice and not knowing what to do. I was able to go on and book a room for them quickly and then followed up with a call to the front desk to make sure there would be no problems. Eric answered and asurred me they would be taken care of. He delivered. Not only were they greated with warmth and acknowledged my priority status, they bent over backwards to make them comfortable and welcome.
It put my mind at ease knowing they were well taken care of. They loved their stay and were able to make it home safely and well rested the next day.
I could not have asked for better treatment! This is the treatment I have grown accustomed to over the many years I have been staying with IHG properties and I look forward to many many more stays in my future...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bretz Best Place in Cumberland!
This is by far the best place to stay in Cumberland. The location is right downtown which makes it close to everything. The staff makes you feel at home and being well run with a solid professional staff, they remember their repeat guests. The restaurant and bar provides great service and the food is very good. I enjoyed the conversations with Jenny at the bar and learned a lot about the town and other things to do in the area during my stay. If you are a light sleeper, then the rooms facing the street side are prefferred, because there is a train track on one side.

The staff really made our stay enjoyable. From the helpful desk clerk to the excellent late-night bartender to the breakfast waitstaff, everyone was pleasant and attentive. The rooms were clean and quiet - what more could you ask for?

When we checked in it was late (after 10:00 pm). We were provided our room and upon entry, neither room key worked. We went downstairs to get the front desk staff to make new keys and no one was at the desk. After five minutes, the individual came in from outside and made keys. Upon opening our room door, the room had not been cleaned. Trash everywhere, not a good sight. Went back downstairs to get a new room. New room was clean and acceptable. The night attendant provided us a $20.00 breakfast coupon and took $4.00 off our room rate (thought that was unusual). In the morning in the dining room at breakfast we spoke with a manager and she was very apologetic and said she would address the situation. Ended up compensating the rest of our breakfast.
First time I have ever checked in a room that was not cleaned.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Greer1016 Great choice for a weekend getaway.
Stayed here for two nights in early November. First time staying in Cumberland. From the time we checked in, the staff was very helpful, friendly and hard working. Ate in the lounge the first night and the restaurant the next morning. Food and service were great! Great location for exploring downtown Cumberland. Looking forward to staying again soon.

Comfortable bed, convenient location. Small town. Left us with to few options for dining and the road system is out of date and so be careful driving at night.

Great place for a railfan but I must say that parking had a lot to be desired.
