Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Staff and Comfortable Bed The bed was very comfortable with a nice selection of pillows. Upon request, a refrigerator was brought to my room at no additional charge. Even though the refrigerator was free, it looked a bit beat up with chipped paint and a couple of dents but kept the food cold as needed. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. My room was facing the highway so I thought I might get a lot of road noice, however it was very quiet. Housekeeping did a great job cleaning/servicing the room. I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again. April 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellence and comfort!! Everytime that I pull up I call it home. Breakfast is more than delicious. My favorite hotel in DFW area. March 30, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by The remodel was very nice Everything looked great and updated. My only real issue was the motion sensing AC control. The AC would switch to fan only after a preset time of no movment in the room. I would wake up 3-4 times a night to go over to the ac control then the unit would begin cooling again. That does not make for a restfull nights sleep and when you stay for three days not good. March 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My Stay Excellent as always, makes traveling easier. The overall experience is great. The people, the place, the location, all wonderful. March 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BED WAS AWESOME!!!! THE LOCATION OF THE HOTEL WAS PERFECT FOR US SINCE WE WERE ATTENDING THE ST. PATTYS DAY PARADE AND FESTIVITIES. I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE BED, FOR A HOTEL IT WAS AWESOME AND THE PILLOWS WERE COMFORTABLE. THE STAFF WAS FRIENDLY, AND THE FOOD WAS REALLY GOOD. WE ATE AT THE RESTAURANT SATURDAY NIGHT AND REALLY ENJOYED IT. THEN WE ATE BREAKFAST THE NEXT MORNING AND THAT WAS REALLY GOOD. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. March 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay Central location for Dallas recreation , dinning and shopping. Most of what we wanted to do within 5 or 6 miles. Movie theater, dinning and light shopping within walking distance. More shopping and bowling a mile north on Greenville, Top Golf east just a few miles east. I have stayed at higher end hotels with full service dinning but stiill offered free breakfast buffet not so with Holiday Inn (if that is important to you). Hotel is mostly done with remodel so recommend highly. March 21, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great and Not so Great Location Wife and I stayed for two nights recently. The location is great for going out to the local restaurants/bars. Not so great because the highway traffic kept us awake all night. Our room was on the end closest to Hwy 75, so we could hear it all night. I would stay here again, but I would make sure my room was on the opposite end of the hotel, or on the inside of the building. Housekeeping staff did the best job I have ever seen, and I travel quite a bit. March 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding value!!! Looks like it was recently renovated. Very nice room and buffet. Will definitely stay there again. March 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stay I have long been a client of this hotel. The staff and service are always excellent. I sent all my clients/friends to stay, they have raved about the hotel. March 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by AIR CONDITIONER EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLANT EXCEPT THE AIR/HEATER CONDITIONER IT WAS LOUD AND TERRIBLE. HOLIDAY INN FIX IT. WE WHERE THERE FOR A CHEER MEET WE HAD THE WHOLE FLOOR ALL US AT DINNER LAUGH HOW A HOTEL CHAIN LIKE HOLIDAY INN KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. DOES NOTHING TO FIX IT. AT NIGHT IT WOULD WAKE US UP. SOMETIMES I FELT I WAS IN A TWO BIT MOTEL. OTHERWISE THE MANAGER WAS EXCELLANT ONE. I EVEN OFFERED HIM A JOB. IN THE OTHER HAND HOLIDAY YOU NEED TO GET RID OF RACHEL NO CUSTOMER SKILLS WITH ANYONE OF US. I'M A PRIORITY MEMBER March 9, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Air conditioner The air conditioner was not working. When we entered the room it was very warm so we reported this to the front desk. A service man came to the room promptly and was there working when we had to leave for dinner. When we got back about 9 pm we realized nothing had been done to the unit but the weather was cool enough we were able to do without. I pity the person who arrives some hot day and doesn't have ac. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great location for SMU Hotel is a basic 3 star. Great location. A definite upgrade from Radisson but still lacking. Wifi is terrible. It only works in the public areas by the lobby. We stayed here on and off through all the construction over the past 8 plus months hoping for much better. The staff is very friendly and try their best. Still a disappointment. March 8, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Don't eat there..... Asked for a King room but got 2 Queens. Bed was comfortable but 2 Queens always makes the room small. Room was nicely renovated but cramped. Restaurant was horrible. You would think being in Texas I could get a good steak, but not here. I've had a better steak at a Ponderosa or Sizzler, it was a very cheap cut, not even a 1/2" thick. Nice room, but eat someplace else...... March 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn @ Mockingbird Statiion Convenience to Mockingbird rail station (4 minute walk or HI shuttle) was primary reason to book. Overwhelmed at value with 2 free breakfasts, renovated room and softest towels I have ever had in a hotel room! 10-15 minutes to downtown and rail access to airports make this the best value in Dallas! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location Had previously stayed at this hotel when it was a Radisson. The recent renovations really brighten the hotel. It is at a great location with a full bar and restaurant. One downside is that it does not offer a light breakfast or snack, typically found at Holiday Inns. But having a full kitchen, the food quality is better than the average HI. It would be better for the customer if they offered juice or coffee in the morning, along with some pastries and/ or fruit, instead of having to pay for a full breakfast meal. The location is what makes this hotel a great value. The DART Mockingbird Station is in walking distance and SMU is across Highway 75. Plenty of restaurants at Mockingbird Station, along with Campsi's and a Kroger a couple blocks away. For entertainment, there is the Angelika Theater and Pocket Sandwich Theater a couple of blocks away too. The DART is a great way to travel to downtown Dallas for work, or going to the American Airlines Center for a sports game or concert. Further north on HWY 75, there are several malls, with Greenville Ave having many restaurants and bars, all within a couple of miles from the hotel. The main downside is the exterior traffic noise from Hwy 75. Light sleepers will take a while to adjust to the noise. As in all urban areas, one has to be careful in hiding and locking away items that someone would want to steal and pawn off. Dallas is no different from NYC, LA, or DC in this regard. Having previously worked in Dallas, some of my co-workers and neighbors had their cars broken into. Car break-ins for petty theft are common, just like in New Orleans or Philadelphia. Need to hide and lock items in the car. Another downside is the AT&T wireless internet, even though it is free with no log-in key. Like any hotel, their bandwidth gets taken up very quickly. Trying to log-in in the evening is a challenge. Not sure how they can increase capacity for the wireless. Perhaps the hotel can add a weekly log-in, similar to other locations, to keep non-guests from using up the bandwidth. February 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It was fine for what it is. I stayed here during a business trip that took me to the SMU campus and the location was ideal for that. My stay was fine, although I unfortunately ended up on a floor where a young sports team was also staying and they were so loud I had to call the front desk to ask them to quiet down (not the hotel's fault). The room was clean and comfortable, although my room did not seem to have a printed property directory anywhere so I had to call the desk to figure out where the pool and exercise room was located. Earplugs would be a good idea when staying here because the walls are thin and the crack underneath the door is rather large, so it's not quiet. This hotel is strategically located near Mockingbird Station, so getting into downtown Dallas is simple (just don't try to get there by DART from DFW). The shops and restaurants near Mockingbird make it convenient to find a meal or drink without having to make that trek though. The hotel's shuttle is convenient but doesn't go to DFW. Breakfast was too expensive for what was provided and was just so-so. I wouldn't eat in the hotel unless that is your only option, but I would say that about most hotels anyway. The front desk person who checked me in was not very friendly but the person who was there upon check out in the early morning was extremely courteous and helpful--he went actually went to the kitchen to make me some coffee because the restaurant wasn't yet open and I appreciated that very much. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by security in parking lot and breakfast My company and I have been staying at Holiday Inn Express for the last 2 yrs and have never had to pay for coffee even for coffee at breakfast and our vehicle was broken into in the parking lot and the police was not able to look at the tapes due to the manager not available. I will recomend to my company not to stay at this location even if we have to drive farther each day to our work. January 20, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Regular, heavy construction at 7:30 a.m. You can usually get a sense of how much a property cares for its guests by how it handles necessary construction. This property begins its structure rattling construction at 7:30 a.m., and it is my understanding that this is not necessarily a wholly irregular occurrence. There also appears to be substantive construction still to be done. It is unfortunate, in that the facility itself is one of the nicer Holiday Inn's I have stayed at, and I have stayed at MANY. But would you start construction at that hour if someone you cared about was-at-issue? December 12, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Smell and cleanliness My non smoking room smelled strongly of smoke and the cleanliness of hotel was lacking. I expected with all the recent changes/renovations it would have been in impeccable order. December 9, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by New facilities in a good location Conveniente location near SMU. It is a new hotel and you can smell it. Service must be improuved. Rooms are good, but you can hear some noise coming from Express Way. Pay attention to maintenance jobs to do not lost the smeel of new. November 9, 2012
