The good: staff is top-notch; friendly, competent and accommodating. Food at the Spur is good. The-not-so-good: the building seems old and tired, like the rooms could use an overall refreshment, though they are clean. The breakfast buffet is no better than the free one at the HI Express and costs $12. Big gripe: the website says there are two restaurants and touts the food at the "Quebec Bistro". There is no second restaurant. The "Bistro" kitchen may prepare the food, but you can only order food at the Spur Bar and Grill. The restaurant area is for the breakfast buffet only.

This site was great for ease of attending a conference which was scheduled at this location., however, I did think it was more expensive than that of other Holiday Inns in the Denver metro area. It was overall a good experience.

The atrium design of the building causes all noises to be heard throughout the hotel. House keeping can be heard most of the late morning and early afternoon vacuming throughout the building and any sort of noise from the lobby can be heard all the way up at the top floor. The rooms could use some updating as well. Furniture was comfortable and staff was very attentive when you finally got a hold of a someone. Seemed to be a little understaffed. Exterior appearance seems a little dated too. Could use some vegetation and a new coat of paint at the least.

To the point:
> Arrived a half hour after check-in time and still had to wait another half hour.
> Strange loud truck noises outside our window several times through the night
> NO HOT WATER. Was forced to take a cold shower.
> Told the front desk there was no hot water. All the counter person said was, "Yeah, we know".
> So I asked for a discount on the room for our trouble. They only offered a free breakfast (we already ate) or 1000 points towards their rewards club which we certainly weren't interested in at this point. I shouldn't have to join a "club" to get what they should readily be offering.
Once it was realized there was no hot water (it wasn't just us) they should have immediately issued an apology to all affected and offered a discount.
How they reacted to both the late check in and the lack of hot water I found unacceptable.

My stay in this hotel was perfect! We arrived after midnight, exhausted and ready to crash. The staff had the room ready, got our luggage and took it to our rooms. We received a welcoming gift bag, with water bottles and granola bars. The perfect snack. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. In the morning we ate at the breakfast buffet. The chef was excellent making some wonderful omelets. They had a wheelchair for my 100 yr old Mom and a courtesy bus that took us everywhere necessary. The driver recommended a wonderful steak house and even got us in without a wait. I can't think of one negative thing about this hotel...it's the epitome of excellence!
