Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great low cost hotel with attentive staff We stayed for one night at Derby Riverlights. Reasonable cost and were very impressed with the comfort and attentive staff. One particular member of staff (Chris? - with blond hair) was extremely helpful and always there when we needed to asked something. Only two little problems - distance from car park to hotel and also we couldn't get into the room ourselves as systems were being updated or changed but not a real problem as Chris opened our room and made sure we were comfortable Would definitely stay again and will recommend to friends May 10, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Another Great Stay We stayed here last June and had an excellent stay so having been invited to Derby for a 40th birthday party this was our first choice.Due to all the staff being so friendly,the hotel so clean,the breakfast buffet which is good & plentiful ,the city centre a couple of minutes away,all I can say it's a must to stay here.Thankyou you once again for a lovely stay. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Nice Just stayed for the weekend of the 2nd Feb and had a great stay in the hotel. Entire hotel was extremely clean and the room was superb - way higher in spec, cleanliness and facilities than what I expected. Tip - book early to get a better room rate! Breakfast was reasonable and plenty to choose from Tip - make sure you park in the Westside Riverside Car Park to get a decent discount. Stay very pleasant Only issue was when the fire alarm went off at 1:30am. It was triggered in the next door building and it is vital to get people out rather than double check is it a fault. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by An enjoyable stay with great staff We spent two nights here in mid-January when the weather outside was cold with snow on the ground so it was a bonus that the hotel is well situated on the edge of the city centre. We thought that overnight parking would be a problem but the huge Westfield multi-storey car park is on the doorstep. Guests need to know that they should pay only £7 per night by getting their tickets validated at the hotel desk then returning to collect their cars and driving straight out. Going instead to the pay machine in the car park will cost double. This is something that should be made prominent on the website but isn't. The rooms are exceptionally well kept which is a tribute to the staff. In fact, all the staff throughout the hotel and especially in the dining area are a real credit to the hotel. Those who suffer are the ones who work in the public spaces where the ambient temperature is apt to be low, particularly in the open plan foyer where the staff were frozen. Any niggles? Not really. We did notice that meal trays, jugs etc were apt to be left outside rooms for long periods. Also, you need your room key to work the lift - a good security idea but we were given only one key so that when I went out alone to the car the key had to be left in the room to work the electrics and, on returning, I had to walk up the stairs to our floor. A nice touch would have been a small packet of biscuits on the tea/coffee tray in the room but there was nothing and it felt a little penny-pinching. The TV had an excellent picture but there are very few channels (8 or 9) which is surprising given that Freeview and Freesat have many dozens. Overall, this is a good hotel which serves a lovely breakfast and offers an excellent dining experience. You will find the staff very friendly and obliging from the chambermaid to the waitresses to the desk clerk. They are a real asset. A little too pricey for a mid-week visit so go at the weekend if you can when the room rate almost halves which makes it much better value. January 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by perfect stay - breakfast could improve The HI was good as always. The onky constructive criticism is that breakfast could be better. Cooked breakfast is very greasy and scrambled egg has too much milk/additions - not enough egg! The fruit salad is very average quality with some fruits not being ripe and it would be GREAT if there was some fruit to take away - just a basket of apples and bananas or similar would make such a difference. As I say, apart from breakfast, great stay :) January 22, 2013
