Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient for the conference we attended Nice hotel for the price and convenient for the purpose of our stay. Air conditioning was not working well, and it was a very hot, humid day. The conference center's air conditioning was very poor, and it was uncomfortably hot in there. The elevators felt like a furnace, and we had the temperature in our room turned down to 65, and it was still a little warm. Staff was friendly enough. Hotel could use some updating. The pool area is very nice, although we didn't have time to use it. Overall, this is a nice hotel for the price, but hopefully the air conditioning problem will be fixed soon. July 24, 2015

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible experience with unacceptable service and empty promises The worst experience I've had at a Holiday Inn or any hotel chain. I booked this room one day in advance using my reward points. Since we were driving home to Minnesota from Texas, I knew we wouldn't make Des Moines until midnight, so I even entered in my credit card info to lock in the room(required by Holiday Inn). We pulled into the hotel right at midnight, I checked in and was told to drive to the back entrance since it was close to our room. The first problem was a camper parked in the parking lot with roughly 20 people sitting outside of it drinking and yelling. We unloaded our bags and went up to our room. Here is where the next problem comes in. As me and my 9 year old son walk into the room, I look up and notice 2 kids sleeping on the floor and 2 adults sleeping in the beds. I grabbed my son and pulled him out and we all went out to the vehicle to load up and drive back to the front desk. When I told the front desk my problem, the managers reply was "Hmmmm, really!?! Well wheres your room key and meal vouchers? I'll move you to a different room.". She never apologized. That night my son couldn't fall asleep because he thought someone might come into OUR room, even though me and my wife guaranteed him it wouldn't happen. The next morning, while I was loading up the vehicle and my wife was brushing her teeth in the bathroom, my son was laying on the bed reading when room service just walked into our room without knocking. My son screamed which caused my wife to come out. The maid said "I'm sorry, we have you as "Checked Out" already.". As I checked out I told this entire story to the two workers at the front desk. She apologized for the inconvenience but said "Since you paid with points, I can't reimburse your stay. But I will give you some bonus points right away to make up for it." Over a month later and I still haven't received any points. I sent this exact story to the Holiday Inn Quality or Service Concern Center on June 9th, and I haven't received an answer even though their automated email reply said they'd reply within 48 hours. I always try to stay at Holiday Inn's wherever we travel to, but after this stay and lack of service/feedback, that may change. July 22, 2015
