Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Very Good Choice! My Wife and I stayed here because they accept pets. This particular Holiday Inn has a few things going for it. Most notably: 1) Location. This Hotel is easy to get to, and even better if you are heading South the next morning like we were. 2) The Staff is friendly, fast & professional! 3) "The Grill" serves up tasty dinners & breakfasts 4) Their "Tropical Courtyard" is very open, very bright and has an excellent pool! I would definitely recommend staying here, and I would certainly stay again! August 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by even with a full hotel, quiet and relaxing We were accommodated with a late (1:00 a.m.) check in, and the front desk clerk was as energetic and friendly as the day shift (not always the case). The room was comfortable and clean. Even with some type of convention meetings and a full hotel, our 3rd floor courtside room was quiet. Will plan on staying here again. August 15, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dirty sheets and poor service I usually never post comments of surveys. This is my very first. I stayed at this hotel for a professional conference. I have stayed in many Holiday Inns and in general have had positive experience and in many cases prefer staying at a Holiday Inn. However, my stay and experience at the Des Moines-Airport/Conf Center was not a good experience. I would never stay there again and would recommend against staying there. The building is an old building with what looks to be many additions to the original building. The hallways are dark and narrow with very low ceilings. I was traveling alone for a conference and did not feel safe walking down the long and winding hallways. The rooms are decent size and I appreciated that, but that is the extent of my appreciation for my hotel room. After a long day of travel and meetings, I looked forward to resting. I pulled back the sheets and immediately noticed short curly hairs on the bed, rumpled, already-slept-in-sheets (this was my first night in the room), what I could only guess was dried nasal mucus (also what my kids call boogers), and other unidentified debris in the bed. I immediately called the front desk. The hotel staff told me “I will let her know” and hung up on me. I waited for the front desk to call me back or have housekeeping knock on my room door to replace the sheets. Neither of those things happened in the 20 minutes I waited. I again called the front desk. They asked me what was in the bed. I listed the above items I noticed (I took photos of the items in the bed). The staff member told me it was probably house keeping’s hair. I asked her to explain the other items and the slept-in-sheets to me. She could not. She told me she would get back to me. Again after waiting another 10 minutes the front desk called me. She asked me if I was part of the professional conference staying at the hotel and when I confirmed that I was, she let me know they have a new room key for me and I should come and get the key. I wonder if I wasn’t with the conference group, if I would have gotten a new room… When I arrived at the desk, she handed me the keys and offered free breakfast because “I have to give you something.” I assumed she meant she had to give me something because housekeeping failed to either knowingly or unknowingly replace the sheets. I was not given any type of apology for my inconvenience. On a minor item, the hotel does not provide hair conditioner. You have to call the front desk and pick up your hair conditioner. These are things I have never run into at other hotels or Holiday Inns. August 5, 2014

There is no free breakfast, even though I booked for 6 adults, I was not informed prior to check in that there was no sofa bed. Also there is no free breakfast, which was important to me, because I was on a road trip. It's only a good deal, if you want to be close to air port August 4, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy and Hot TV's a problem Spent two different nights there. If your room faces the atrium with the pool you hear kids playing in the pool until after 9PM. Very noisy and not restful at all. On my return a week later I was placed in the back building that does not have rooms facing the atrium. It was quiet, but the entire building had air conditioning problems. They apparently knew about this as when I mentioned it to one of the staff he said they were having problems. Spent the night sleeping on top of the bed trying to keep cool. Asked the front desk where the luggage cart was and was told they were out somewhere. This was 5:45AM. Front desk made no effort to help. Caught an incoming employee who knew where one was a led me to it. Very uncomfortable experience. TV goes out and takes about 5 seconds to display when you change channels. July 30, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Under construction This hotel apologized for the fact that it is under construction, but that did not do anything for current guests. It is sadly in need of updating. Our room was at a junction of two hallways and was apparently a meeting/conversation place. Loud guests, washing machines and ice machines all made sleeping difficult. Our room had a shampoo and a body lotion when we arrived. No conditioner and no sign to say if you need anything else please let us know. The best thing about this Holiday Inn was the staff who listened to our concerns and dealt with them as best they could. July 16, 2014

The hotel is in a great location, the staff is awesome and very accommodating, the free shuttle is a huge perk. Lots of places to eat around the hotel if you want to eat out. The snack bar in the hotel has great food for a very reasonable price. Would recommend this to everyone staying around the airport! July 3, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel- POOR management- expensive FOOD The front desk ladies were always very nice- and one even went out of her way for us when we asked about the free breakfast on their website- they didn't have one. And their food was unreasonably overpriced! $8 for a plain waffle...and packaged syrup. She gave us our free ones since it was on the website- but the manager John? was a complete jerk about the WHOLE situation- even interrupting my husband 2 times when we were trying to explain- didnt look at us all and was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL- worst employee I've seen at a Holiday Inn so far!- We are gold elite members and spend an awful lot of time at Holiday Inn's and Express's--I thought that we were treated as if we were low life welfare people. Great place to stay, CLEAN, and fun to be at- would be here again except I will not eat there and expect anything from the management. June 24, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Service While I truly enjoyed my visit to Des Moines, Iowa and found the majority of people there to be kind and welcoming - the staff at the Holiday Inn were the exception. They were hassled and unhappy. The shuttle driver was rude and actually lied about the service they provide - when I did finally convince her to take me just two miles down the road - I feared for my life with her driving skills - And Traffic in Des Moines is tame! The hotel itself is aging and unkept. The food was atrocious - just YUCK! If you are unlucky enough to have to stay here for more than one night to be close to the airport, rent a car - you'll want to get away. June 20, 2014
