I asked for a late check-out (at noon) as I was running a half marathon that morning and wanted to shower before driving home - I was told that I could not have a late check-out because there was a big event in town (the university homecoming) and I needed to be out of my room by 11am. Very disappointed in how they treated a paying customer and will think twice before I ever stay at a Holiday Inn again. Won't even discuss the squeaky bed and the not so cooling air conditioning. The employees are always friendly and helpful and their customer service is top notch. I could not recommend this hotel enough and I hope anyone looking to stay at a Holiday Inn chooses Holiday Inn Dover. October 18, 2014

While it is pet friendly, they were happy to relocate my room at the other end of the hall from another room occupied by a guest with a playful puppy. Doing this allowed me yo get my needed rest for my day ahead. The bedding was perfectly comfortable. Thank you to the entire staff. October 15, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A few issues Stayed on race weekend so rates were high but expected and it was the first time I was ever able to get a room right near the track. I was also traveling with 2 small dogs and the hotel was great for that. The room was on the first floor close to the door to go outside. I purposely changed to this hotel because on the website it says microwave and refrigerator (traveling with pets its nice to have that because it can be difficult to eat out with pets). Upon arrival to the room, there was no microwave or refrigerator. I called the front desk and was told that no rooms had either since they were remodeled but that I could use the microwave and refrigerator in the business center. I lost a deposit on another hotel to come to this one because they had a microwave and refrigerator. Then the tv didn't work, the front desk told me how to reset it, but that didn't work. She was going to come down and look at it but by that time it was after 11pm so I said not to bother. the maintenance man came the next day and fixed it 1,2,3. The last issue was that before we left for the track - I checked the guest services book in the room regarding the restaurant hours. In bold and starred it said that during football season (Sep to Jan# the restaurant was open on Sunday until 8pm. When we returned around 6:30pm I called to check on the closing time of the restaurant and was told it was not open but I could get take out menus from the front desk. Well the traffic was bumper to bumper on Dupont Highway and no one would deliver until later that evening. We ended up eating vending machine items. We did order room service for breakfast which arrived about 10 minutes later than the requested time, they only gave one coffee cup for two people, but the food was absolutely delicious. #of course we were pretty hungry after not having dinner the night before!) All in all a very nice place but they should update their website information and also their guest services book in the room. Just make sure to ask questions about any amenities you need before booking. September 30, 2014
