I recently stayed at this hotel and it brought back memories from my previous stay four years ago. Having stayed at numerous Holiday Inns across the globe, I found this one to be one of the best. The staff was polite and courteous. The breakfast served at the hotel was exceptional and the quality was as good as it was during my previous stay. The only hitch was the strength of Wifi in the room and it became difficult to have an uninterrupted web meeting. Unfortunately, this hasn't improved in the last four years. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would happily recommend this hotel!

I was surprised and very disappointed staying at this Holiday Inn. I have stayed at many Holiday Inns in Europe and in the United States. The Holiday Inn in Dresden Germany was one of the worst experiences I have received by this hotel line. During my stay in Dresden I additionally stayed at a higher rated hotel which was far superior to the Holiday Inn. When making a reservation with an organization like Holiday Inn you would expect their web site to delineate what is standard and what is optional. This Holiday Inn calls itself a business hotel (offers wifi, breakfast, and other amenities) but everything comes at an additional cost: parking at 11 Euro a night, Wifi offered at 9 Euro an hour? Breakfast offered at 18 Euros per person?
The first night I stayed at the hotel they had some type of party which resulted in no parking places. I asked the desk where to park and they responded “pay for our underground parking or park on the street”. They could care less if most of the cars in the parking lot had no “Holiday Inn passes” and I was a problem not a customer to them. The parking lot is large enough for hotel guest but not with a party going on at the same time. I had to trudge through the snow and park my car about 100 meters down the street. I requested an extra bed for my daughter (included in reservations at an additional cost) but had to request it twice to get it to my room after checking in at the hotel.
The pool area was reasonably modern and clean. I was surprised that in the middle of the winter the pool was not heated or the heater was not being used. The side hot tub was only slightly warmer than the pool. This was the first hot tub I have used that I feared hyperthermia if I stayed in too long. I was very disappointed that an evening swim was not relaxing, but a shocking wake up experience.
As mentioned I stayed at another popular chain hotel and granted a higher rated hotel. If I used the wifi, enjoyed breakfast, used the spa, and had breakfast at the Holiday Inn, the overall cost was cheaper at the higher rated hotel. The rooms at the higher rated hotel are much larger (I had a small two room suite), breakfast was included (much bigger selection), the pool was much larger (they use heat), underground parking had a charge, but the overall cost was cheaper staying at a much nicer hotel (higher rated hotel).
I would only use this Holiday Inn in Dresden if I need a bed for a night and all other hotels were booked.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by rob2325 Very Accommodating Staff, Good Property
Only downside is the location, unless Neustadt is your destination. Very accommodating, friendly staff; they clearly understand hospitality. Room was large by European standards; ask for one with a terrace, weather permitting. Dining was good; salad bars are rare in this part of the world. Location's good for early airport access. Spotless, well maintained. Small pool in the basement. (My perspective is being Hilton Gold and Accor Gold which means a typical yearly roster goes from Hampton Inn to Conrad, and Ibis to Sofitel.)
