Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by All good but food and bed There are so many things to rate a hotel on and this one does nearly all of the well. Unfortunately, two key ones were unsatisfactory. The food was luke-warm and too salty. Worse, the bed was soft and dipped in the middle. Everything else was fine, but those were significant downers. July 30, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly and helpful staff, the hall we stayed in was very quiet We have stayed at this Holiday Inn several times and the staff is always very friendly, we love the food in the bar/lounge, the buffet breakfast is very good. Our room was very quiet. My only concern was that there were two small bugs in the bathroom but they could have been on our shoes and we brought them in from outside. We will still continue to stay there when we are in that area. July 24, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Flight Cancelation and Late Booking I recently was traveling for work and had a layover in the Washington-Dulles airport on United Airlines. Unfortunately, United canceled my flight home that day and rebooked me on a flight the next morning due to weather. Since they do not provide complete accommodations due to weather, I was offered a distressed traveller option with several hotels on the list. Being an IHG Rewards member, I immediately selected the Holiday Inn. The rate was extremely reasonable given the circumstances and they offered a very prompt shuttle service from the airport. Upon arriving, the front desk staff were very pleasant and expressed empathy over the flight situation. Once I made it to my room, however, I was very disappointed. I was placed on the ground floor of the property. The room was not what I expected from the IHG brand, and it may just be that this is an older property. The room had the smell and feel of someone having recently smoked in it, even though it is a no smoking room. Stains were all over the carpet in the room, and the room service menu/property guide had various stains and substances stuck to it. Outside the room, people were wandering the halls, talking loudly, and were drinking in the hallways and continued their intoxication party late into the night. I called the front desk and asked if they could please send someone to take care of it, but the noise problem never went away. Being already stressed from my travel delays, the noise outside made the stay even worse. I did not order from the room service menu, but the food options seemed to be varied and looked appealing. The only way I would recommend this property would be if you were a stranded traveler like I was, and are just looking for a cheap place to crash for the evening and end up with some IHG points as a perk. And even then, I'm sure some properties further into DC would be worth the increased cost. July 18, 2014

I was worried because I never sleep well when I am not at home. I swear I slept better there then I have in years. Your mattress were the best. I befriended my server and the manager there - who were very accomodating and professional. I will definitely request to book at Dulles for business trips in the future! July 2, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bad experience The rooms are average and so was the service. The restaurant service was especially poor. I was totally ignored by four different waiters. They either paid no attention, did not come to see what I needed, forgot when I asked for various items, etc. I finally walked out, mentioned it to the head waitress and she decided not to charge for the meal. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best restaurant staff!!! I work with NVR mortgage and we had training in the area and stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The entire staff was so gracious and polite, but I especially want to say how great the restaurant staff was. Specifically Madlen and Theresa. (please pardon my spelling mistakes). I used to work in the restaurant business and could tell that they were having a busy weekend, but it did not stop them from being incredibly great hosts and making our stay and dining experience a special one. If ever I'm back in the area I'd be delighted to come in to see them again. ( I hope I do!!). June 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Relaxing Stay Great experience at HI Dulles. Staff was very friendly and helpful at front desk and in restaurant for breakfast. In-bound shuttle from a/p was excellent with pick up; however, when flying out, we were only passengers in the van and the shuttle driver took us to in-bound rather than out-bound on the total opposite end of the terminal. We have stayed at HI Dulles previously and always had a drop off at the airline we were traveling. Unfortunately, we tipped him well before realizing what he had done. Hotel may want to speak with drivers to assure drop off with out-bound carriers. In the future we will be sure driver knows we wish to be dropped off outside out-bound carrier check in. June 23, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Wedding Stay This Holiday Inn is nothing special. They need to renovate they want to keep a decent customer base, or any type of business traveler that is white collar. This place is simply a spot where if you want a place to stay for a reasonable rate in the DC area, then go for it. But I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The saving grace is the staff, restaurant and it's proximity to the airport. This of course, is being taken advantage of considering the fact the rooms were "old" and our room/hallway smelled like a smokers room, even though it was nonsmoking. A lot of people staying there that we knew complained about this. June 19, 2014
