Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Okay choice We stayed here twice on our trip - the first time was pretty good but the 2nd time our room didn't have any hot water for the shower and the staff didn't seem to really care or seem concerned that we weren't able to shower and get on the road in at a reasonable time because of that. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Newly Remodeled rooms in Duluth Downtown We stayed in a double queen room in the newly remodeled downtown Duluth Holiday Inn. The room was clean, modern and quiet. Even though we were only a few doors down from the ice machine I didn't hear it at all. Had a lovely view of the Duluth lift bridge and we were close to one of the two pools / hot tubs in this hotel. Porter's breakfast is nothing to write home about, although the wait staff was attentive. I would definitely stay here again. August 12, 2013

The staff was friendly and helpful especially at such a busy time for them. The trolley to Canal Park as well as the city bus stopped in front of the holiday (Holiday Center). It was a wonderful experience. We would recommend this holiday to others. August 10, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Old furniture bad elevators slow response time at the front desk We rented a family suite, the kids chairs and beam bags were in horrible shape and dirty, the air conditioning went out and never got fixed. Our experience was poor considering the low quality of the rooms for the very expensive rate. Breakfast wa promised with online booking and they didn't honor that upon checkin. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel! We really enjoyed staying here. We never ran into one person on the staff that wasn't super friendly. As a matter of fact as soon as we walked in to check in she immediately told us they were going to upgrade our room to poolside for no extra charge. We were staying four nights so we were about 20 steps from the pool the whole time. nice. We loved, loved, loved the free shuttle too. They will take you anywhere in Duluth for free, we didn;'t hardly drive while we were there, it was awesome (don't forget to tip your driver tho!) One other thing we loved was the little shopping center on the bottom floors of the hotel, they had a little store down there which we used everyday for water and milk and things. It was really convenient. And a Subway restaurant! Things that werent so great the fridge and bathrooms were too small. The last night we were there the hot tub was cool, which was dissapointing on our last night since we wanted to enjoy it one last time before we left and there was no staying in there. The housekeeping was a little sketchy, not that things werent clean but she would never replenish things like she should have, like coffee and soap, I was always on the phone requesting more towels until I started leaving her notes. We had a comforter along and one day she made the bed with our comforter and shoved the hotels bedding up under the tv stand! weird. No big deal we still loved our stay and would stay there again for sure!! August 8, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not the greatest for a higher-end hotel I spent two nights in the hotel. I was first placed in a room on the 11th floor, which was large and comfortable enough, although the office chair provided did not work well. The biggest issue was that neither my phone nor my laptop could pick up the wi-fi signal. A hotel clerk was very friendly and accomodating, and offered to switch my room. He first took me to the room to make sure I could pick up a wi-fi signal from there. It worked, and the switch was made. On the second night the cable TV went out without any notice or reparation. It was late, so I didn't bother trying to call someone about it. The toilet kept leaking in the room as well. Overall, for the rates they charge, the rooms should be impeccable, and the tv and wi-fi signals should be available to every room. August 7, 2013

I identified myself as a IHG member and they acted like they we doing me a favor by having a room for the night. I should have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express across the river in Wisconsin. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Overpriced for what you get! This hotel left a lot to be desired! It pomised a lot and do not deliver. Our play station didn't work. After trying 3, they finally brought us a wii to use. Our toilet overflowed one morning and we had to change rooms. The pool was small and the air temp was so cold that we could not use the pool. Serve was okay but they definitely did not go out of thier way to make us feel welcome! August 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Online Booking The online booking/reservations needs to be clear that the total amount is only HALF the cost. I was extremely surprised to still owe money when I had been billed and paid for my room 3 months ago. VERY disappointing. And because I shared a room with 4 others, they were also upset to owe more money. We likely will look for a different place to stay next summer - probably in canal park. August 5, 2013

Unable to order in room movie --tried multiple times and the tv always said not registered in the room. Tried multiple times to call front desk but phone always busy...really???? Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Over loaded resturant We slept in until 10:0 am the first night. Couldn't get breakfast, but a BLT was on the lunch menu. Second night we got up earlier, breakfast was being served, but there was a 1 hour wait to be seated. We found a great deli across the street and got the best breakfast for $7.95 I have had in years. Perhaps the hostess at the over crowed HI Restaraunt could have directed people to the deli across the street in the concept of helping customers get their breakfast finished quicker so they could enjoy the tall ships which is the reason they were staying in Duluth to begin with. Just a thought. When my company is overbooked, we work hard to help our customers find alternatives, they really appreciate that in the end. July 31, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by In Town for Hockey Tournament In town for a 6 day hockey camp and tournament. The Holiday Inn is central to all the Ice rinks that we played at. We did not have to travel further than 15-20 mins for any of the games. Most games were played at UMD, Hermantown, Superior, and Cloquet (furthest at 25 mins). It's within walking distance of the Canal Park area which has a Cruise around the harbor, normal chain restaurants and a few other touristy things. Rooms were clean and noise was minimal. Staff was courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt with any requests. Parking is free but very crowded at times. Has a nice average sized pool on the 8th floor. If you want to do laps, there is a YMCA less than a block away. Exercise room....meh! No complimentary breakfast in the restaurant. Personally, I think we payed a little too much for the room but the prices in the downtown area reflect the trend of being close to the tourist areas and the convention center, which is in the Canal Park area. Overall, I would stay at Holiday Inn again. Mainly for the convenience and location of all the rinks. It is located in the downtown area which seems to be undergoing a revitalization. You can walk around in most areas and there is a enclosed skywalk that connects to the Canal Park area so you don't have to drive there and pay outrageous parking lot fees. July 30, 2013

I requested a room with a view of the Duluth Harbour. Upon arrival, I discovered that the hotel had upgraded my room request in order to accommodate my view request. We had a great view of the aerial bridge and could watch all the boat traffic coming and going. Very nice! July 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice stay.... This was my 2nd trip to Duluth and 2nd time staying at the Holiday Inn. The staff makes the place without question. EVERYONE who you will interact with is kind, professional and willing to assure that the guests needs are taken care of, without fail. The rooms is spacious and well appointed. My King size bed was comfortable and a welcome sight at the end of a long business day. My only issue was the A/C which gave me some trouble but when I called to advise of the problem, a maintenance man was there within minutes to correct it. There are 2 stainless steel pools on the 4th and 8th floor to relax and away from the weather that can plague the Duluth area. Several places to eat are offered, I used Sneakers on the 2nd level as well as the Greenery on the ground level, both are convenient and the food is a good value. All in all, it was a great trip and I will be using this hotel again on my next AmsOil visit in 2014!! July 28, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good place to stay We stay here when ever we are in Duluth. We are platinum club card holders so we went to the "reception" 30 mins. after it started. There was 3 of us they gave us 2 free drinks, there was 5 meatballs left and some chip crumbs. I thought they were going to bring more out but when we asked they said nope that's it. Not the end of the world put if they are going to go thru the trouble of having a reception they should make the guests happy, not feel like we wasted our time. The elevators are always hard to get especially at "rush hour" Other then that we like the place. July 27, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Sleepless Nights I can certainly understand and appreciate a busy hotel, but there was no attempt by your staff or management to ensure Guest comfort. Walls are paper thin and no one patrols the halls late at night or even advises those returning late (after 2am) to be considerate of others who may be sleeping. When I mentioned this to your staff, I got blank look, and never once in 7 days saw the GM...not even from a distance. Your own staff contributed to the daily disruptions by having loud conversations outside our room prior to 7 bad that I had to open the door and remind them of what time it was. I called down to the front desk several times after midnight to complain of late night noise and nothing was ever done. Partly, are there service elevators in your hotel? If so, your staff doesn't use them. It is really inconvenient to have to wait for a second elevator because hotel staff is riding guest elevators between floors- I counted as many as six staff at once on one occasion. They should strains to step OUT whenever guests are trying to step in since we are paying for the privilege of the ride. We will be back in Duluth three more weeks but sadly will not stay at this hotel again. It is a poor representation of the IHG brand. July 27, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by old, worn out room bathtub had stains, cracks in tile. toilet paper roller doesn't roll. Carpet really dirty looking. Room wasn't worth the money. I am glad I got the amsoil discount. We tryed to stay one more day, but price went up and I wasn't paying that kind of money for that room. July 25, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room was great - services average We recently stayed at your hotel. We loved the view from our room & the beds were very comfortable. The staff at the front desk were very friendly. However, there were two concerns during our stay. First the absolute lack of towels at both pools on Saturday night. When I noticed before using the pool, I went to the front desk & was told they were "working on it." However, during the time we were in the pool area no towels were delivered. If we have been aware of the problem, we would have taken towels from our room - but we were on the 15th floor and didn't want to wait for elevators #very slow at times#. The other issue was lack of plug-ins - hopefully, you can update your electronic situation with the renovations. July 15, 2013

We tried the skyway once and that was nice but a lot of walking for him. Very nice hotel and we really enjoyed out stay. July 15, 2013
