I booked into the Duluth Holiday and was given an newly remodeled room. This remodeled room was an upgrade from what I had originally booked. Sadly, I was only there for one day. This is a room that one could easy enjoy for weeks. The hotel room included a sitting room with couch, table and chairs, microwave, sink and refrigerator. There was thankfully a door between the bedroom and the sitting room. The staff was friendly and helpful and directed me to great sightseeing that was within walking distance. The airport shuttle got me to my very early morning flight (5:45 a.m.) right on time. My stay was awesome. Thank you all for making it happen.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by hindiprincess Not a place to stay for a handicap room
This is our second year staying here for our wedding anniversary and i must say last year was much, much better. This year the supposedly handicap room we got, first didnt have enough room for my wheelchair to even fit around the bed. Then the bathroom was too small to even get to the sink. Finally the worst part was the shower had no handheld shower head. Now for most "normal" folks this would have been ok but for me, and for a handicap room this was a deal breaker! We got a new room, this one had the shower head, but the bathroom still made it almost impossible to get to the sink. Last years room was better, but they were booked and getting a different room was not another option.
The staff was good, the hotel lovely but their handicap rooms leave a lot to be desired.

The fridge in the room was leaking all over the carpet! The whole floor in front of the sink was soaked! Called the front desk and told them. They assured me the fridge would be replaced and the carpet dried. We came back to the room in the evening and found a fan in the room, not plugged in. Fridge not replaced. All the lunch meat we bought from Northern Smoked meats ($40) was spoiled. Carpet still soaked. Room spelled! Called and was moved to another room. Stall was apologetic, but I know better for next time we are in Duluth. Beware!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by hzaffy78 Friendly staff who try to help
Friday night was fine except for the shower filling up to your ankles while bathing. Told the front desk staff in the morning and they fixed it that day. Saturday night came back to wet bedding. Front desk sent someone up with bedding who then left it all stacked on our beds for us to make. I called down to have someone sent up to make the beds. A gentleman came up, remade the beds but didn't replace the down blanket which is what was damp. We dealt with it regardless. The next morning, filled in the front desk and she was going to comp our room for Saturday night but so far, nothing has appeared back in our account. Spent the majority of the weekend taking the stairs because each time the elevator would FINALLY show up, it was always full. Our six year old wasn't happy. We did receive a free breakfast at Porter's which was just an over glorified Perkins. Also, my last two stays are still not showing any points on this IHG card.

The hotel is a remodeled downtown facility. The room was nice and I appreciated the recognition of my Elite status. The greeting at the desk was friendly and prompt. The room well appointed. The restaurant that we were given a discount coupon for was under staffed but the breakfast was very good. We will stay here every time that we're in town. Thank you for a wonderful time.

we stayed two nights in the family suites, after entering we discovered the kids table was dirty, and their dated bathroom had a leaky toliet. after it was fixed the toilet flush was extremely loud but when we called maintenance he just said it's normal, but is normal super loud and 5 min long? the pool is open until 10:30pm and is extremely loud, but after it closes it was fine. the plus was the front desk people are extremely accommodating.

Thanks for a great experience at your wonderful hotel. We stayed in a clean, nicely decorated and comfortable room on the top floor which overlooked beautiful Lake Superior. Every one of the staff members were extremely courteous and helpful. We ate at Sneakers and Porters and the meals were yummy and again the staff at these two places were awesome! We will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by mom555 expensive room and poor housekeeping
We stayed in a kids suites room. The room was cute but was supposed to have a microwave which it didn't.
The first room we were given wasn't adequately cleaned. The helpful staff changed us to a different room. This room was clean, but was missing a few items. The staff corrected some of the issues. Our second day housekeeping didn't even come. At the end of the day the beds were unmade and there were still dirty glasses on the counter. When we told the front desk they had someone come an replace the glasses.
The phone in our room did not work.
When we checked in we gave them the coupon for our stay. Upon check out we were billed the whole amount. The desk eventually sorted it out but it took a while.
Overall I would agree with all of the reviews that I read prior to our stay: the hotel was ok but expensive, the staff was very friendly but housekeeping was a weak link and not everything got resolved that was an issue.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by q256 Nice place for a short get away
Had 3 beefy adults - required two rooms. It was HOT ( yea, one of those 90+ days in the Greater Metropolis Duluth. So : the A/C works, tested and ensure on those rare times it is wanted it will work to expectation.
The property seemed well maintained. We had the two queen sized rooms on the upper floors with view. View was work the extra few dollars as well as the more limited access to those floors. I tend to find that . . . less noisy neighbors are than in those situations. Normal LCD Tv, fridge & WiFi ( which was good, techno geek here - my selling point satisfied just on this one ). I would had liked a couch or pair of comfy chairs to be able to lounge in, the room did have the space for extra seating to look out the window at the lift bridge etc.
We also did room service : food was good, service friendly and wasn't out of line.
Parking . . . this is within the town - parking seems semi premium here but there is parking in the garage and the ticket is than covered by the hotel. Unsure if they reserve X space for just the hotel but we didn't have any problems ( did in/out a few times ).
Note : I stay at hotels for months at times, this would be a vacation hotel ( week at most ) based on my room features - not long term stay IMO. It is also hard for me to award 5s - again, that service has to ' WoW ' me. I would stay here again, give more Holiday Inns vacation time and recommend this hotel. I don't think it has 5s but by far is a good strong overall hotel.

The room was extremely quiet and isolated like I requested. There was always a pool open despite the fact that there seemed to be sanitizing going on in at least one of them while we stayed there.

The view was incredible also. Staff was pleasant and wonderful to work with. Thanks for making our Annual Girls Mystery Weekend AWESOME.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Videographer Nice hotel, but some mechanical issues...
I visited the Duluth Holiday Inn to pick up my 84-year-old mother from a vacation in upper Minnesota. Everything at the hotel was fine, but for one odd - and shared - problem: Both of our rooms had door locksets that were *very* hard to open. I actually had to put my shoulder to the door to open it the first time. Other than that, though, a fine stay.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Betty3638 Beautiful, clean and convenient Duluth hotel
We stayed in town for a wedding which was located in the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center on Lake Superior. The hotel and convention center are connected with a very convenient skywalk system. When we walked through the hotel doors on a busy summer Saturday afternoon, we were greeted with a desk full of smiles. The guest service was amazing. The hotel room was brand new and beautiful. The hallways and pool areas were all very clean which was impressive as the hotel was bustling with wedding parties and families of tourists. The restaurants had great food and service as well. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The room was fine but we forgot a pillow and called the front desk twice and were transferred to housekeeping. We left voicemails both times and never received a return call. This is inexcusable.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Crespo Overpriced
This facility charges more for its rooms with a view of Lake Superior. The "view" we had of the Lake was a narrow glimpse between other downtown buildings. Our actual view was of a tar and gravel roof of the adjacent building. Although the room was billed as having been "refurbished", it already seemed shabby, dated, and bereft of amenities.. There was a tiny refrigerator sitting on the floor, rather than the more conventional standard of housed at a convenient height in a cabinet and paired with a microwave oven. Once more, the rooms are sufficiently small to invite claustrophobia.

Large newly renovated room, clean and fun location. No fan in bathroom, no microwave in room and elevators very slow. Spendy for value though. If they dropped the price by $50 it would be worth it.

We stayed in one of the kids suites which was nice for our family of four. It gave my husband and I some quiet time while the kids were in their VERY large room watching TV and playing video games. Elevators were a little scary after someone said they had gotten stuck in one...yikes! Check in was easy, hotel was nice, 2 fridges in the suite was very nice, walk way to the lake was great, lots of places to see and eat.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lauren34 Won't stay at this hotel again!
I was disappointed with this Holiday Inn property. Front desk staff were extremely helpful and courteous, but that's where it ended... U was told that we were in a recently renovated room, it was adequate but the beds were highly uncomfortable. The tile floor had dirty footprints all over it upon our arrival in the room and there were whiskers in the bathroom sink. Good thing I travel with disinfecting wipes. The next morning, the housekeeping staff would put the lock across the door jamb and let the doors bang against it, until I told her it was extremely obnoxious, apologetic, but too little too late as far as I was concerned. I will find somewhere else to stay in the Duluth area for our next trip.

We stayed here twice on our trip - the first time was pretty good but the 2nd time our room didn't have any hot water for the shower and the staff didn't seem to really care or seem concerned that we weren't able to shower and get on the road in at a reasonable time because of that.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by jbx1138 Newly Remodeled rooms in Duluth Downtown
We stayed in a double queen room in the newly remodeled downtown Duluth Holiday Inn. The room was clean, modern and quiet. Even though we were only a few doors down from the ice machine I didn't hear it at all. Had a lovely view of the Duluth lift bridge and we were close to one of the two pools / hot tubs in this hotel. Porter's breakfast is nothing to write home about, although the wait staff was attentive. I would definitely stay here again.

The trolley to Canal Park as well as the city bus stopped in front of the holiday (Holiday Center).
It was a wonderful experience. We would recommend this holiday to others.
