Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel in transition This hotel is conveniently located to the River Centre. It is in a bad state of transition, as there is an ongoing remodel. The breakfast buffet was average at best with a premium price. The rooms were dirty and the carpet was older than me, at least it looked like it. August 19, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Where's the pool/whirlpool?! Really disappointed that you seem to have removed the pool/whirlpool. We always bring our suits to any hotel stay. Also, I couldn't get WiFi, and the remote for the bed did not work. The bed/wifi issues I'm sure could have been taken care of, but not the pool issue. On the plus side, we love the proximity to Excel Center, and you upgraded our room! Thank you! August 17, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't stay here Dirty, worn-out hotel with mediocre service. The beds were uncomfortable. We had to move rooms because the sleep number bed was flat and malfunctioning. Moved to a new room-which unbelievably was worse than the first. The furniture was extremely beat up, the floor was filthy and the bed was very uncomfortable. August 14, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor value! The room was way below par in cleanliness, it had smoke odor and the carpet? It was the exact opposite from being clean and fragrant. The bathroom had a lousy shower with a tub faucet that does not properly lock. Will I recommend this place? Yes and no, NO for the accommodation. Yes for the great staff at the front desk, restaurant and at the ballrooms. The ballrooms were nice as well. August 13, 2014

Asked for a re-furbished room, and got one on 5th floor. View was of a parking lot. Opened the window and there was 2 guys sitting there waving at us. New bathroom but shower leaked all over the floor. Staff friendly and did everything they could, but until entire hotel is re-furbished will not be staying there again. August 13, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Room Getting off of the elevator from the parking ramp we were a little hesitant about the hotel. Then we saw the renovations. We were greeted at the check in with an acknowledgement of being a IGH rewards member and a very quick check in. We even received an upgrade to a suite. The room was fabulous with a great view of the river. The staff was very helpful giving us a map of downtown ST Paul and directions. The only drawback was the wireless signal was very weak in our room, but since we were here to celebrate a birthday we didn't not connecting. We will definitely be back. August 12, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great restaurant....stop in for food but don't stay to sleep This is a good restaurant with quality, respectful wait staff who understand a tired traveler is looking for quick service without a lot of banal chitchat. I particularly like the appetizer with the melty cheese and fruit plate, that's yummy. But I wouldn't recommend anyone stay here if you have specific room type preferences or actually want some of the room amenities to be functional. I know they are under remodeling right know, but still; no one should be put in a room that is not really clean. August 8, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not as nice as a Crowne Plaza should be... The gentleman that checked us in was friendly and polite but overwhelmed. He walked away for a long time for what I thought was him getting our key cards but he got involved with another staff and customer and forgot about us. He came back to his station 6-7 minutes later and said hello, how can I help you...he did give us free breakfasts because he felt foolish. Crowne Plaza hotels are supposed to nice, this one was run down...it is under construction but we were NOT in a newly remodeled portion. It took 15 minutes of letting the water run to get warm, not hot water in the shower. I felt wasteful doing that but the water was very cold. August 7, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Experience I have stayed at this Crown Plaza many times, in fact I had my wedding there 8 years ago. It generally is a top notch place to stay, with tremendous staff, and great rooms. My last stay however was not anything close to my previous statement. The hotel staff seemed pre-occupied with their cellphones instead of helping me check in, then once I went to my room, I was amazed at the condition the room was in. I paid a premium price for a king bed expecting to get a nice and clean room. What I received was a room that had stains all over the carpet, randomly placed mini-fridge, and a shower curtain that had holes all the way through it. Needless to stay I was very umimpressed with my stay and I am hoping that the room I stayed in will be renovated quickly. I am a IHG member and stay in a lot of hotels, and I have never experienced a room like this. August 6, 2014

Although there was ongoing construction at the hotel, we didn't experience any construction noise during our stay (on a Saturday and Sunday). GREAT deal for the money! July 30, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Best Breakfast in Bed We had a newly renovated room which was very nice. The halls and other common areas are in need of desperate repair. But the hotel is currently under renovation. We went to the bar for some drinks and a late night snack. We got the sirloin steak tips based on the bartenders recommendation. They were the worst! We were just going to eat it anyways because we were paying for them As soon as the bartender found out that we didn't care for them he didn't charge us. We ordered breakfast in bed the next morning. I had the ham and cheese omelet and my husband had eggs and bacon. Everything was super good! The toast was fresh bakery bread! Yummy. The coffee was excellent! The price was the same as going out to a restaurant. Definitely worth it! July 30, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed, clean room but... POOR SERVICE Our room was clean and inviting. The temp was a bit chilly for me, when I tried to turn down the temp the thermostat just fell off the wall, leaving this loud hissing noise. I informed the front desk immediately at 7pm and was informed that they will send someone right away. I left the room for supper and returned at 11pm and it still was hissing loudly. Informed the front desk again, who was apologetic but was unable to resolved this issue in a timely manner. I was exhausted from my trip and wanted to get some ZZZZ, so I just put a Q-tip in the hole and went to sleep. July 29, 2014

The walk-in shower was great, the lighting was stylish and modern. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. It was easy walking distance to several restaurants and evening strolls along the river walk were relaxing. Rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet, staff were very friendly and helpful. Thanks Again. 2 Issues I would like to resolve if possible: 1) The thanks message that was emailed to me for this latest visit in Minneapolis was addressed to the colleague I was traveling with, Anthony Schweitzer and his IHG member account. Could you make sure my IHG member account was credited for this stay? 2) I am not able to access your web site to view my IHG members account after numerous attempts. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by sub-par experience Granted, this is an older hotel but was disappointed to get a room that was likely an old smoking room while other parts of the hotel were under construction. Housekeeping was lacking in that they had not replaced (obviously) half-used containers of conditioner and lotion in an already dated bathroom. Also, a food wrapper left on the floor from a previous guest. On the other hand, i love the location of this facility. Valet parking is steeply priced but the valet and front desk staff friendly. If you go, spring for the extra buck and get the valet service, especially if you are going to be out and about with your vehicle. This is the second time I have stayed there -- first time was better -- there for a meeting. I would probably go back again but really hoping for a better experience next time. July 26, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Was this a Crowne Plaza? I arrived extremely late due to a late flight. I was checked in pretty quickly by the front desk staff, who was very polite. When I went up to my room and opened the door, I found that it was already occupied. The poor person in the room said it was the 2nd time that happened. Back down to the front desk I went. I was given a room on the top floor. I entered the room, which was on a corner, and I found the views of the Mississippi to be outstanding. However, the windows were unable to latch shut. They kept blowing open. The carpeting had some serious stains and the drapes looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. The decor was all very dingy and dated. I somehow expected a little more for a Crowne Plaza and the price that I had paid. I have stayed in nicer looking hotels in Las Vegas for a lot less money. July 23, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by CHeck in issues and dirty room After taking 45 minutes to check in and them "up-grading" our room for the inconvenience we finally get up to our room and it was trashed beds were not made garbage everywhere and dirty towels all over the place. For the cost of these rooms I would expect them to have their stuff together and the rooms to be at least clean check in is at 3:00 we did not even check in until 4:15. NEVER Again will I stay there.... July 23, 2014
