This was my 18th year with my daughter at the Holiday Inn, East Hartford attending the Women of Faith Conference. We found this Hotel easy to get to and return to the main roads going home, plus enjoyed the walk over the highway to the Civic Center. Arriving we were greeted like family by a very friendly front desk staff. When looking for a snack one night, they opened the store so we could get popcorn which we were able to pop there, and then take to our room. We always found the rooms clean and neat, plus the beds very comfortable with just enough covers to be cozy, and the bath sufficient in size to bathe and make up. The buffet breakfast had everything you could want, the dining room was efficiently bussed, and we were seated promptly which gave us ample time to eat and get to our conference on time. It was comfortable like home.

I'm sorry to have to write a poor review. The front desk staff was not very friendly, nor helpful (that includes checking in and checking out. I was given a handicap room which was not necessary, but ok. It was located right outside the elevators and had a doorbell. When I entered the room, the entry way light did not work; Alex the maintenance gentleman came and switched it out for one that did work. Alex was very nice and offered his services should I need anything further. Then I went to freshen up before dinner, however there was no hot water in the sink, nor in the walk-in handicap shower with the large fold down chair. The water ran for a solid 15 minutes before it turned ever so slightly warm. I ran cold water through my hair and went to use the blow-dryer, but the blow-dryer did not work. Turns out it was the bathroom outlet that did not work, and yes I pushed the "reset" button on each. I called the front desk, but there was no answer. Obviously I had to re-pack and re-dress and haul everything back down to the front desk for a different room. The front desk staff did not even apologize, nor offer anything except another room. The food at the onsite restaurant was very good, and the bartender was friendly but she definitely could have used another staff member, as I sat there for a solid 10 minutes before she surfaced. The breakfast buffet was good. The front desk staff member was rude at check out when I asked her about the directions I had to my next destination; I just wanted to get on the highway. She snapped at me and said, "just like it says there!" I would NOT recommend this hotel to fellow business travelers.
