Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Hotel This is a good hotel. Have stayed here before and will again The staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient. Have only used the restaurant for breakfast and it has been good. Hotel has good leisure facilities including a swimming pool and we used that again this stay. Only marked rooms as 4 because they are probably getting near to refurbishment time. Having said that perfectly good for family with plenty space for 4 of us in a king, single and sofa bed. Was recognised as a platinum IHG member when I arrived for check in, Check in took less than a minute as did check out. The value for money of the stay was excellent. March 4, 2015

I stayed on two separate nights during the course of the week and as a gold elite member, the friendly reception staff upgraded me to a suite on each occasion . The beds were extremely comfortable and despite the hotel situated right by a busy flyover there was little traffic noise. So all good in that respect. I stay in loads of hotels in the uk and throughout the world and usually Holiday Inn brand as points make prizes but it never ceases to amaze me how certain aspects of hotels get passed. At HI East Kilbride the person who decided that the chairs and tables for customers to sit at in the restaurant , obviously never tried to eat a meal whilst seated at one setting. Firstly the chairs have either got beyond their use by date as when you sat down the support on the seat area was almost non existent which meant your bottom would disappear down a hole. I had to keep changing chairs to find a seat that did not give way . ( I am only 14 stone) The next issue are enormous wooden table legs that splay out at 4 angles. These legs are so wide and long that one cannot sit with ones feet in a normal sitting position making eating an uncomfortable and almost acrobatic experience. The restaurant staff were extremely friendly and understanding and offered me several chairs which were not clapped out. March 3, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Refurbished bathroom, comfortable bed This room benifited from a recently refurbished bathroom. This contributed to my stay experince. The room Furniture looks tired and the carpet had stains in some areas I assume from the refurbishment works. But overall still a comfortable room. The staff are always very attentative and welcoming. The bar and dining areas are okay, but again the Furniture looks and feels tired. The food and drink available are fine and the restaurant menu had been updated which provided a wider and interesting selection. Overall a good hotel to stay in and I will continue to use it regularly. February 23, 2015

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Potential to be great, but the shine was taken off our stay! On check in my Colleague and I received rooms keys for rooms 25 and 27. Room 25 have a torn bed base (on the corner highly visible to see) and the bathroom had black scum in around the seal and within the grout, the door was swollen, having to lift/shove the door, overall the bathroom was very tired and in need of a refurb ASAP! The room was very cold, on inspection of thr patio style door, to the left of the door you could place you fingers behind the lip of the door, this would not close, therefore letting in cold air but also traffic noise from the outside. Room 27 had the same issue with the bed, with the added problem of a highly stained duvet that could be seen through the cover (yellow and brown stains!). The bathroom to room 27 was also failing, with black scum on the seals and grout, however the general appearance of this bathroom was more up to date. Back in the bedroom, the chair arm was ripped. We were upgraded to rooms 123 and 236, 123 still had black scum to tiles, but overall the room was an improvement on room 27. Room 236 was much much better (except the duvet was a double size on a king sized bed, so looked daft as it only covered 80% of the bed), with a newly refurbished shower room Room 236 should be the standard for all rooms (with the right sized duvet of course). Breakfast very good, evening meals very good (did have an issues with undercooked food, however the Chef and Staff were more than helpful to get it right, so 10/10 for their service). Would I use this hotel again? Yes but the room would have to be as good as 236 or I may not stay again (the holiday in express in Hamilton, is newer and cheaper, you may not get a full breakfast offer but its overall experience is a challenge to the Holiday in at East Kilbride, if you don't get it right for the future).
