Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Poor Hotel I have stayed in this hotel many times through work so my review is based on a number of visits. The hotel is tired and long past it's best. Yes, the rooms are being updated - in fact every day of my last stay I've had to step over and around builders, tools and materials - but for the kind of money being charged, the rooms are a disgrace. The shower gel and handwash in my room were virtually empty and had to be removed from their dispensers to get them to work and in the refurbished rooms, the toiletries are not refreshed daily. And nor are the hot drinks and sugar. I also feel that it's sad that IHG don't even bother to supply biscuits in the room. Very shoddy penny-pinching and the kind of issue that makes the seasoned traveller think twice about the value of their custom. March 29, 2015

The hotel is showing signs of undergoing works, but disappointed with the room as heating didnt work and cleaners hadnt done their job properly. Staff were excellent and resolved as much as they could. Internet kept dropping out, especially when i needed it at the end of the day. March 23, 2015

From when we stepped through the door on arriving until we were leaving the staff could not do enough to help us. The room was very comfortable and covered all our needs. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Standards have slipped The management have taken their eye off the ball. I have spoken to them and hopefully just a temporary set back. Dinner service was appallingly slow as they had 1 large party to serve. Still no excuse for us waiting 1 hour for main courses. At breakfast 4 items not available. Waiting staff not even aware until items were requested. Staff are friendly but lack management supervision at weekends. Refurbished rooms will be great but basics in room are missing. We had 2 bulbs out in our room. Comfortable beds and wide choice of TV channels. WIFI did not work on 2nd floor and could not be fixed at a weekend. March 18, 2015

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Parsons Egg Good in parts The service was as always very good but my stay was spoiled by a few points. 1. The room was very cold and heating did not seem to be effective despite cranking it up to 35 degrees which it never tried to reach, hence waking in the small hours leaving me with a 250 mile journey to make on 3 hours sleep. 2, there is an odd smell about the corridors. Is it the cleaning products perhaps? 3. The meal I was served was discusting and was sent back. What was supposed to be a beef strog was in fact pasta ribbons with raw stringy meat so tough I could not chew it. It really was nasty. It was not a stroganoff. It was removed from my bill. Little compensation for a ruined evening. The new shower was very nice March 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant stay We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights overall everything was good the hotel is in need of some TLC as the room we used needed the bathroom sorting out and the room itself needs a makeover, the pool area is also well used with cracked tiles etc, however it is plain to see that the hotel is undergoing a large referb and it looks like the issues are being dealt with I would most certainly return to this hotel the staff were helpfull and friendly, March 6, 2015
