Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by maulik78 comfortable bed but needs changing
Overall carpets around the hotel are stained.
Room carpet and furniture cover are badly stained.
Perhaps steam cleaning is required.
Have difficulty in coping with large number of visitors in
dining hall at breakfast time.
Pricy for what was provided.
Beds were okay.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mat823 Weekend stay
The hotel is well situated for the zoo, the city centre is only a short taxi ride in.
I booked the executive room for me and my girlfriend as it was her birthday and she fancied a weekend in edinburgh.
Whilst I would recommend the hotel, I 100% would not recommend the executive room. The only difference I noticed between my room and a standard room was there was a bigger TV and they gave us bath robes that were stained and starchy.
For the room to be an executive I was expecting it to be more fancy inside and something that would almost take your breath away so I could feel like it is a special stay and not just a normal weekend away.
The bath robes need softening before use and the ones we had, had stains on them and didn't look clean.
Also the fridge in our room didn't work, we didn't bother to complain because we were only there for one night and we had already unpacked so didn't want the hassle of changing rooms.
So to summarize, I would stay in this hotel again but most definitely not in any other room apart from a standard because it is a complete waste of money.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CNJH77 We would happily stay here again.
Nice property with a location that was excellent for us near the airport and on bus lines. Three buses serve the Zoo right next door, the 12, 26, and 31. All three will get you to Prince’s St and the 31 will get you to North Bridge, which is a closer walk to Old Town. Short waits are the rule for the 15 - 20 minute trip.
The hotel’s double bed rooms are completely adequate in size, lighting, electrical outlets, comfort, and amenities, but if you want a view you must ask for a front location. We had a 4th floor room with zero street noise from Corstorphine Road and excellent views.
If you’re driving, parking can be a bit tight, but overnight parking is possible at the zoo lot. They do want you to move your vehicle by 10AM, so that might be a slight hassle. We never saw the hotel car park completely full during our four night stay.
Staff is very helpful with directions and information. If you need a boarding pass printed, no need to use the business center, just ask, and staff will take care of it for you in a flash.
We suggest you take a pass on breakfast and the restaurant. A full Scottish breakfast is more than we can eat anyway.
Overall, we would happily stay at this property again.

They are a bit hesitant to allow free in room WiFi, however. Just be pleasantly persistent. They understand that free in room WiFi is the industry standard these days. Plus, IHG will start rolling out free in room WiFi system-wide in July. We stayed in four Holiday Inns throughout Scotland and this was the only one that slightly resisted free in room WiFi.
We suggest you pass on breakfast and the restaurant as both are overpriced in our opinions. If you want to eat near the hotel, there are small local restaurants about a ten minute walk past the zoo, including a Wetherspoon pub called The White Lady which fit the bill for us one evening.
Overall, we would happily stay at this property again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pushie GOOD Location
It was our first visit to the city and I had booked the Hotel on the basis of the reviews. Overall experience was good. Though the room was little cramped for 4 (2 + 2). But all the requests to the front desk was promptly taken care off. Since we are all vegetarian and kids have a Indian taste did not try the food. Location for public transport and connections to airport and rail stations was very convenient.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Julessinco Good location for the zoo
The hotel was very welcoming and the staff friendly with the room a good size for 2 adults and 2 children.
As it was aimed at the family market I would have expected the childrens buffet on the evening to be much better.
The pasta was dried out, the pork swimming in grease and the nuggets overcooked - not a vegetable in sight, most disappointing.
Breakfast was very busy but the food good and plentiful and a 2 min walk to the zoo.

Great service friendly staff, the only problem we found was the bed, which was to hard! Food and drinks purchased in hotel are excellent but pricey. Overall pleasant experience.

Booked so family and I had a relaxing few days, with facilities for them while I ran the marathon, and they met me at the finish. All the staff were very friendly, helpfull and were happy to help with questions and advise. The day before the EMF a pasta menu was put on in the resturant, and a travel information board. This was very helpful, and was a nice extra thought for all the EMF guests. Bar staff knew our drinks very fast, and was able to ask if it was 'our usual'. All added to the stay and made it extra personal. Fab
