Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great value for money Perfect location and great value for a business trip. Room adequate but basic - a packet of biscuits would have been appreciated along with the tea when arriving quite late. Breakfast was good, lots of choice, although the tea served ready made from a large pot was dreadful. A freshly made cup or pot of tea would have been so much nicer. The pancake machine made us laugh - we had never seen one before. The pancakes tasted fine but varied in size from 2 - 4 inches in diameter, so quite a few were needed! Have stayed here twice now and would have no hesitation in staying again. Staff are great. May 20, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good hotel in decent location. quality hotel with a decent view of the city / castle. breakfast is fantastic. staff are excellent. more or less half-way between the city and the airport with free parking, the bus stop into town is right outside (both directions) and only costs £1.50 each way or £4 for unlimited daily travel) so leave the car in the hotel and enjoy Edinburgh! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A little disappointed The room was advertised on the website as having a fridge and a mini bar, It had neither. There was only one bath robe but an extra one was supplied when requested - but without a belt. The pillows were worn out. When we have previously stayed at the holiday inn near Edinburgh Zoo in the superior rooms they have had confectionery and shortbread on the tea tray. There were none of these. The bar was understaffed on Friday night and the lady bartender was doing her best not to get overwhelmed. Staff were very friendly particularly at breakfast service. The breakfast was very good. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by johns stay h/i I stay at the holiday Inn West Edinburgh regularly and like it very much the staff are great, but do change quite regularly which I suppose is natural, the main staff don't so that is a bonus, I normally stay in the same room and the only problem I seem to have is the heating and I'm not sure is it me or the heating it can be warm in the room but the floor level seems cold and the bathroom is cold, I'm not sure but I have stood at the window and the heat blows to there and I don't know what happens then. The hotel is in pretty good condition but is getting to the stage of a slow upgrade, May 16, 2015

The hotel is beatiful and clean the rooms are spotless and the staff are very proffessional polite and very helpful. Would like to give a special mention to Anita what a wonderland member of staff. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent stay, breath taking views!!! We stayed at the hotel for two nights with our little 1 year old son. Cot was in room as requested. Room was very clean and tidy. But the most important thing was the view from our room. We could see the whole city in a panoramic view!! Reception staff very friendly and professional. Bar and restaurant staff were very welcoming and took every opportunity to assist - and to play with our little boy :-) - We will definitely stay here again.
