Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CWMW Best holiday Inn We've been too
We stayed here as we were visiting Cheshire Oaks to shop for the weekend. Its about a 5 minute simple car journey away. The hotel is situated by a beautiful canal and lovely surroundings. There's plenty of free car parking space, including an overflow car park which has CCTV and is locked at night. We didn't use the swimming pool or leisure facilities but they looked nice from what we saw and looked ideal for families.
We stayed in a room with a double bed and sofa bed, even though there were only 2 of us staying because we like that extra bit of space. Views out the room were lovely. Room was very clean, comfy bed, air conditioning, hairdryer and iron, everything you need . Breakfast was nice with the usual fry up which you help yourself too, also cereals, fruit, and a small selection of pastries. I did ask for a quite room when booking and we were positioned as far away from the function room as you could get :-)
I can say 100% without a doubt that I will be staying at this hotel again when I next visit Chester..

Customer care was excellent especially by the receptionist sinnead and the hotel team who made our stay there as best it can be.
Only downside I guess is having the gym and swimming pool outside the main building.
Even with 2 wedding parties in the hotel, I felt as if I was treated with the outmost care expected in a 4 star hotel.

From the pleasant staff at checking in to the excellent breakfast and easy check out this Holiday Inn had everything you would expect. Nice location, good view from dining room, comfortable and clean bedroom, good food and excellent staff throughout who are so pleasant, have pride in their service and are anxious to please the customers. And all this at such a reasonable price and a location so easy for motorways plus leisure facilities. If in this area why stay anywhere else?

Stayed here after a day at the zoo. The receptionist was very kind and helpful. We had a family room, but on arrival didn't have any bedding for the children's sofa bed. This was sorted out immediately and even had my daughter's teddy on her pillow. The pool was lovely with a lovely lady on reception again. Breakfast was fantastic with helpful friendly staff. Even my kids loved it.
I would recommend this hotel, and will definitely stay again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by love relaxation 2014 Great for smokers
We stayed here in August 2014, all i have to say is that the area is remote and looks a bit rough. Not the best Holiday Inn, have stayed at better. Leisure facilities are in an annexe outside and the smokers stand outside in the main entrance, not good when our room was on the front of the hotel and smokers are shouting, laughing and chatting. Cigarette buts everywhere, not nice

We spent one night at the Holiday Inn Ellesmere Port, and were not disappointed! Everything from the main reception area, to the bar and restaurant, and the quality of the rooms was excellent. Set on the waterfront, the restaurant was clean and pleasant, and the food was outstanding. We tried to book another night, but unfortunately they were full, which was such as shame, as we were so pleased with our whole experience. Highly recommended if you're looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay, with good food, and very pleasant surroundings.

We stayed three nights at the Holiday Inn Ellesmere Port / Cheshire Oaks.
The hotel staff were lovely and really friendly. The service was excellent throughout and the breakfasts great. The only thing wrong was the bed which was really hard and uncomfortable. A huge shame considering how good everything else was. On account of the poor bed we had three variable nights sleep which we found disappointing.
Even so we would recommend the hotel

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Faugeres Comfortable and did the job
Wanted a hotel for a two day shopping trip to Cheshire Oaks and Chester. The Hotel provided a great base, was comfortable, clean, and both breakfast and our evening meal were very good. The setting for the hotel is in an old canal marina, which now has many waterside apartments around it, making it quite modern. Easy to find off the motorway.
As always using the website to book is extremely difficult and totally user unfriendly, made even harder as we were booking with our collected points.
The bedrooms are spacious, but watch out for the edge of the desk, it comes out quite a way, and both my wife and daughter caught it on several occasions.

We have stayed at various hotels in Ellesmere Port previously and been seriously let down.
We now stay at the Holiday Inn at Ellesmere Port not least of all because the staff just cannot do enough for the guests.
Highly recommend this hotel

We would have liked to eat a second night in the hotel but we thought that the children's menus bland and boring. All the restaurant staff gave a good level of service.
I have stayed in this hotel before and hope to stay again.. I always recommend it to people who want to visit the zoo.

Lovely hotel, great staff, very clean, well presented room, good facilities, good surroundings with the boat museum/Locks, but not a vast choice of drinks behind the bar though. Leisure facilities were fine but not the best.
There were the first few signs of age about the place beginning to show a little, but this was not detrimental to any way to our stay. - A nice holiday break

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Marc R Very let down
We visited as a party of 4 in 2 rooms for 1 night as part of a relaxing break. On arrival the reception staff where first class, the room was first class. We dined out as the hotel seemed very busy with a wedding reception.
On returning all the carparks where full so we had to sqeeze the car in a non designated space over a kerb. On returning home we found our Mercedes had sustaned damage from another vehicle, most certainly from there!
Returned to our rooms to noise of drinkers and smokers in the front canopy which i gave in to at 2.45am and rang reception. He said "sorry, it will be OK in 1/4 of an hour or so as the doors are being shut!" But the noise in the corridors continued for a further hour or our eyes became so sore we fell asleep! Our traveling partners had a worse night as they where over the canopy and in the room next to the lifts!
We obviously tried to sleep in but the noise started again at 8ish we finally went for breakfast at 9.30 to be met by queues 20 deep at the buffet. When we got to the front we where able to get beans and tomatoes then after a further 5 minutes, bacon and egges, then after another 5 minutes, mushroom and black pudding and then after standing for over 20 minutes we got some hot sausages to go with the rest of the cold items!
We sat and had plenty of hot caffine to try and set us up for the visits and long drive home we had planned.
A very friendly senior waitress asked if we had a nice stay and was everything was ok? Which I explained why we wer not, her reply was " I think you have to just expect that there will be a wedding reception at every hotel on a Saturday night!!!!"
Again the reception staff where very helpful and sympathetic on our departure. I havnt checked the bank yet to see if we where charged or not!
All in all we left there very very tired!
This stay was booked online so I do feel the hotel should contact you to say there is a large party on that night!
Although I have said not recommended, Im sure it is a fantastic hotel at other times. The room was fantastic as where the "day " reception staff.

Stayed here en route between holiday destinations. Very helpful, friendly and welcoming staff. Clean rooms and very comfortable beds, although room a little warm. Food brilliant - plenty of choice if you wanted a healthy option and good for the children too. Would definitely stay at Holiday Inn again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CathandPete Comfortable stay
Once again we had a very comfortable stay at the Holiday Inn Ellesmere Port - it's always our first choice of hotel when working in the area. Reception staff are fabulous, and it was lovely that one member of staff recognised us from a previous stay. We have in the past stayed in an executive room but on this occasion we were in a standard guest room which was clean but a little dated and in need of some rejuvenation. I think there are some rooms that have been redecorated, but ours wasn't one of them. However the bed was super comfortable, and we had a great nights sleep so definitely can't complain as it did what it says on the tin! We'll be back, but hopefully we'll be able to upgrade to an executive room again next time.

Overall our stay was fine, the room was as expected and had a nice view of the canals and narrow boats
However, breakfast was not up to usual HI standards. Items ran out and were not replaced, several used tables were left uncleaned while guests had to wait to be seated, a pile of burnt toast next to the toaster, scrambled egg looked like someone spilled a glass of water on it etc. It was holiday season and a little busier then usual but there was plenty staff around.
Parking space was tight and seemed very unsafe. Signs everywhere claiming that parking was at the guest's own risk did not help feel safe....

We stayed here as part of a wedding party (the wedding was held elsewhere). I can't fault Holiday Inn Ellesmere Port! Lovely location right next to the canal so plenty to see for the kids. Close to the M53 and Chester so lots of places to visit.
Lifts up to different floors so all rooms seem quite close to reception. We had a family room (231) which had a sofa bed made up for our 2 & 3 year olds. Great view of the canal. Fantastic air con which was needed in the height of summer! Nice and clean! (I'm a bit finicky about cleanliness but was pleasantly surprised!) I'm not sure if they change the duvets depending on summer/winter but it was a bit thin. Perfect for hot summer nights but I'd want more for winter!
Staff were really friendly and went out of their way to help us, especially my mum who wanted to organise a special room for my newly married brother. They also arranged a table for us all for breakfast (there was 14 of us).
Swimming pool is good too! Although maybe supply more padlocks, they gave us a male and female one. Which meant 4 girls had to cram their stuff into one locker which didn't have an arm band on it so we had to place it at the side of the pool. (This is me just being picky as I can't think of any real negative points!)
Would highly recommend! Great if you don't want to spend the earth but want a decent room, great breakfast and a really friendly service! (Night porter/bar staff were especially attentive).

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Norman and Jane Chester Mid Week Break
We stayed one night mid week, it was our third visit and our third stay at this hotel which we use as a base for visits to the Cheshire Oaks shopping centre and Chester centre. As always the room was clean and tidy, food excellent and staff friendly and efficient. Unfortunately it was difficult to sleep due to the rather noisy air conditioning unit outside our room, number 207, in an attempt to get some peace we closed the window and turned on the air conditioning unit in our room, unfortunately this was almost as noisy as the unit outside though with the advantage that we could keep the room cool, essential as it was a hot July evening. We would stay again but not in a room adjacent to the hotels main air conditioning unit.

Although the setting for this hotel is beautiful I found the room basic. I asked for pillows from the selection and was given extra pillows which were the same as the ones already supplied. There was no fridge in the room in which to keep drinks cool. The room was small and claustrophobic.
