The receptionist, despite it being both very hot and very busy, was delightful,she was friendly and extremely helpful. The bed was really comfortable ensuring that we had the best night's sleep in a while. Thank you.

We have stayed in other Holiday Inns and by far this was the least comfortable. Unfortuately there was a wedding party in one of the main function rooms by the reception area which meant that upon arrival we were having to shout to the receptionist who likewise had to do the same in order for us to book in. The noise carried down the corridors to the bedrooms. There was also a lot of too-ing and fro-ing from the wedding guests until late into the evening.
Previous bookings have always included breakfast, which we were told was not included in the price of this particular booking, which was a disappointment.
The accommodation does need updating, although better than other competitors we have stayed with.
Take note of the Holiday Inn at Shrewsbury - this should be a role model for the rest of the chain.

Hotel OK overall. Staff friendly and engaging but missed a lot of the basic compentancies of delivering good service. Key Card was grubby, 3-course meal took over 2 hours to be served on both nights. I had a deal including dinner and room; I made an effort to point this out upon booking my table, upon being seated at my table and upon requesting the bill. However on both nights I was repeatedly given the wrong bill (for the full amount). Even once this was corrected and I was given a bill just covering my drink I was surprised to see that they had still thought it appropriate to add a service charge on top of this. On checking out I was further surprised to find that the full cost of both meals had been charged to my room (despite paying the correct amout in cash on both nights). In fairness I believe that the staff were struggling with a new computer system but this should not happen and their service needs to be better tailored for business travellers.

I was so impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the service was fantastic and way beyond my expectations. I had 2 tired and lively kids with me and I felt welcome at all times. I was quite a demanding customer - always asking reception for this or that - and nothing was ever too much trouble. Staff were also very chatty and companionable which was lovely traveling alone with children.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Noisy wedding party but great staff
I was so looking forward to my weekend break and I'm sorry to say I was very disappointed. The wedding party (of which we were unaware) meant the reception and bar area was very noisy and crowded on Saturday afternoon. I had booked a double room with a chair bed, anticipating a slightly larger room but don't recall seeing a chair bed and don't think the room was large enough to contain one anyway. Not being part of the wedding party I don't consider allocating us a room so close to the reception party was appropriate. The noise and music was loud and intrusive and continued until after midnight.
Queuing outside the dining area to be allocated a table for breakfast was also something I hadn't anticipated and the complimentary tea and coffee didn't help as the containers were empty and weren't refilled during the time we waited
However, I would like to say the restaurant staff worked extremely hard that morning and should be congratulated on their efforts
Not sure I would choose to stay with Holiday Inn in the future if an alternative hotel was available

We arrived from NZ for the purpose of working in the Hampshire area. On arrival were put into a standard room and when we spoke to Reception staff about the absence of an iron, ironing board, fridge, reasonable amount of coat hangers etc. were told we would be able to change rooms the following day. The upgraded room offered the extra amenities. WiFi is very expensive and this hotel is not really suitable for the business traveller.
The noise level in the Dining Room and Reception area with all the children means this Hotel is not suitable to invite a business colleague back for a relaxing drink or meal. The food in the restaurant is terrible but seems to cater well for children.
We are returning to Fareham next week but will not be using this hotel again.

We booked this hotel based on previous stays at other Holiday Inn and we were not disappointed to say the least - from the moment we walked we were made to feel like we were at home!! We spent 2 nights here to visit a local attraction and enjoyed dinner and breakfast on both days - the restaurant colleagues deserve particular prise for their diligence even down to remembering my 2 daughters names and spending time talking to my eldest about how she had enjoyed her day! Even when we had a slight issue/question with our bill, the staff took their time to ensure I was completely happy - which I was! Thank you all - we will defiantly see you again soon.

We used the hotel for a weekend stay to visit relatives . The Internet price was good and overall we would use the hotel again. Good points , the location, the staff , free use of the gym and pool. Bad point , the lounge seating area, it was open to the elements and VERY noisy , ( screens around this would make a big difference ) and not relaxing, if this had been more comfortable we would have spent more time there. The hotel seems geared more for conferences and weddings.

En route for the Cruise Terminal in Southampton, this was the perfect place to stay the night before embarking.
The only slight complaint was that we didn't realise there was no lift - all our holiday luggage had to be taken up to the first floor. Will specify a ground floor room next time. Bedroom, restaurant and facilities were excellent.

This was a dissapointing stay from the start, my room was freezing and the heating was obviously broken due to an electric heater being situated in the room, although this was not turned on.
As if this was not enough my food order was completly wrong causing a long wait while it was re cooked.
I also chose this hotel for the health club, however some of the equipment was not working ,causing a wait to use anything that was still in working order
I stay in Holiday Inns at least once a week on business, this hotel fell short of the standards I experience at other locations

Fab hotel...best staff we have ever come across in hotels.
Lovely welcome - great touch to offer a glass of wine and there were choc.eggs for the children.
Rooms were warm and comfortable..didn't use the leisure facilities, so can't comment on them.
Breakfast was good, albeit a bit expensive. Restaurant food was ok, although we experienced poor quality steaks...however, staff were great at sorting this out...nothing was too much trouble.
I would be happy to recommend this hotel to anyone.

Hotel room and reception all that you could ask for. All the staff were welcoming and helpful. Nice touch with a glass of wine on arrival and cookies for the kids! The rooms were clean and tidy and the arrangements made with the hotel in advance to have all three together were met without fuss.
On the downside the pool had seen better days and was starting to look a bit shabby in places (as well as the usual cordon for lane swimming leaving little left for anyone else - not much of a problem as so few in it).
The breakfast was probably the biggest let down. Service was not the best - no one checked to see if we wanted more tea/coffee at all, some of the food ran out a number of times and replacements were very slow in being put out, the toaster was very slow and ineffective (resulting in some people putting bread through twice and causing a long wait), and the bacon (good bacon!) was not well cooked. Whoever had the chefs hat on was clearly not a chef or just couldn't care!

After some initial problem the hotel staff were quick to respond to issues and rectify them.
The staff at front desk went out of their way to make my stay more enjoyable.
The gym does not have enough running machines, needs some fold up ones to cater for peak time.
Cleanliness of the changing room is very poor it isn't monitored and people are allowed to leave clothes on benches rather than use the lockers. This means there isn't any space for other people changing.
Temperature of the changing room is far too cold.
Temperature of the gym is far too warm.

This is primarily a hotel catering for a business clientele. However as senior leisure breakers we find it very relaxing and would highly recommend this to anyone. All staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. In the restaurant a good selection of excellent food very well presented.
A good location easy to reach but away from the hustle of nearby cities of Southampton and Portsmouth.

This was our 4th visit to this particular site and we were both completely happy with the room, it's location, the breakfast and the wonderfully polite staff.
The room was clean although they are looking quite worn and shabby now. E.g. worn lamimate in the room hallway but nothing major.
Comfortable bed and plenty of freah towels.
