Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by overall a good stay The pool area needs clocks so parents can regulate the time better. Kids eat free with paid adult, but it has to be in the restaurant. We would have liked to eat in the pool area so kids could swim while we finished. taking them in the restaurant was painful when they want to swim. restaurant was also really slow with only 2 or 3 tables in use. food was good and reasonably priced. beds were fair and room was great. easy access to the rooms was also a plus. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good quality for the price The staff was polite, professional and helpful. Rooms were clean, comfortable bed, and having a fridge, microwave and flat-screen TV are nice amenities. The only part of my stay that I was disappointed with is the lack of a continental breakfast, however there is a restaurant right off the lobby. August 15, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Musty Odor Musty odor in room. Water seeping up through floor soaked anything left on it. August 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good price and quiet I have stayed in a lot of holiday inns and this was a good place to stay good price and clean. August 8, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Poor pool restrictions/lack of info reserving online I recently had a kids pool party here. It did not give any stipulations about the pool when I reserved the room online. It turns out you only get 4 wristbands per room reservation and each child MUST have a wristband to play in the pool. When I informed the front desk that I had more than 4 kids coming to swim, they told me there was nothing they could do about it and that the kids would have to swap out the wristbands so only 4 could swim at a time. I offered to pay for a few extra wristbands and they said absolutely not. I have had several pool parties in the past at different hotels and have never been restricted on the number of children allowed to swim at once. If this is the case for a hotel, it should clearly state this BEFORE you reserve the room online. I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future. August 8, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Hotel Experience of My Life When we checked in the first thing we noticed was the smell. It smelled like our wing was the smoking section for years and they were trying to get rid of it. Secondly we opened the door and everything in our room was extremely old. It looked like it had not been updated in years. For the amount we paid we at least expected a fridge in our room. Nope. Ok, we can deal with that, so we decided to go to the pool with our kids. The pool area was so packed you could not get in the hot-tub and the wait to go down the slides in the pool was ridiculous. Nice pool but needs to be bigger to accommodate that many rooms. Went back to the room around 10pm & turned on the AC, it was extremely loud but we dealt with it and went to bed...well, we were put in a room near the ice machine so from about 10pm-12am every time someone filled ice we got woken up. 12am-2am-The people in the room next to us came back from the pool, the walls were paper thin we could hear every word they said and they weren't even being loud. Stayed up to listen to them until they went to bed. 2am-3am-We were stuck in room 408, right next to the maintenance room. Something started in that room that was so loud it sounded like a train was coming through our room. Why you would put a family with 2 kids under 5 yrs old in the that room is unbelievable. No one in our room slept at all. 2:30am I go to the front desk to make them aware of the situation, I am told I will get a full refund for that night and the next night I was supposed to stay there, which I told her there was no way I was staying there. Next Day- My wife speaks to the manager when we check out and again I am ensured I will get a full refund but since I booked through a third party it will take a while to get my refund. I am still waiting to see if I actually get my money back for this horrible experience. Unfortunately I will NEVER stay at the Holiday Inn in Fargo, ND EVER again and will consider every other hotel before I stay at a Holiday Inn anywhere else. August 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love This Hotel Staff are just wonderful on their ability to make a person feel right at home. Rooms are always super clean and the cleaning staff are most helpful. I stay at this hotel 4 times a year and alwys have a good experience. Restaraunt has huge portions, for all meals. August 2, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent rooms and great food!! Hotel was decent. I had a room close to the pool, so it was tough trying to sleep with all of the hallway traffic. Hotel restaurant was fantastic!! A little on the pricey side, but worth it. July 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff and Service I need to comment that the people at this property are outstanding! Made us feel great from check in to the breakfast. July 29, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Smokiest non-smoking room ever We stayed for a wedding that we were in and by the time we went to the room it was late and we were extremely tired. We reserved a non-smoking room, but when I opened the door, we were blasted with the stench of cigarette smoke. The smoke smell was so bad that I woke up numerous times just from the foul smell. My eyes were red and my throat was sore in the morning, which I believe to be from the smoke. It was like sitting in a bingo hall or old bar all night. If that weren't bad enough, the carpet in the room was sticky. It felt like someone had dumped soda all over the floor in that room; it was beyond disgusting, I couldn't stand to put my bare feet on the carpet. Had it not been for the time of night and my exhaustion, I would have been up at the front desk demanding a different room. Between this garbage dump of a room in Fargo and the dump in Spearfish, SD, I will NEVER stay at a Holiday Inn again ever. July 29, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good but could be Better We really enjoyed the pool and waterpark but a little disappointed to pay all this money and have no continental breakfast. We had stayed at a Hyatt Place and ate a wonderful free breakfast, thought the Holiday Inn would have the same. Also we had a pool side room and it was quite loud in the am as people were swimming early. Great convenience for the pool but not good sound proofing. July 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very good service We completely enjoyed our stay at the Fargo Holiday Inn. The staff was very helpful and polite and pleasant. The kids loved the water park and our room was nice and quiet and clean. We will definately be back. July 27, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by front desk staff I was disappointed with the attitude of two of the young women employees. I arrived at 2 pm just to check to see if my room would happen to be ready...was told it was "A 4 O'CLOCK GUARANTEE" and no the room was not ready but she would advise housekeeping. Find I came back at 3:45 to see if it was ready and a different clerk said no it's not and I can't do anything about it!!! So I told her to tell housekeeping they had 15 minutes as I had a "FOUR O'CLOCK GUARANTEE". I sat and waited in the Lobby until 4:05 and asked if my room was ready..."what is the name...checked and yes it was" Would it have hurt her to look up and tell me the room was ready? I booked my room three months in advance, paid for it three months in advance and was treated like a dog. While I was sitting waiting at 3:45 several other people came in and their rooms were ready but my poolside was not - unexcused. The rest of the staff was pleasant and polite. The second girl actually had the nerve to say "what are you doing here?" I said "excuse me" and she said "well what are you doing here" to which I replied I'm here because I'm here period. If she were doing a survey such as are you here for pleasure or business, acceptable. May part of the orientation should be how to be polite. Unfortunately, even though I have the priority club with Holiday Inn, I do not believe I'll return to this sit July 24, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Sticky carpeting and poor bed I realize that this hotel is currently in renovation but it is long overdue. It was obvious to me that the carpeting in the room had neither been cleaned nor replaced in several years; it was tacky to the touch everywhere, and even worse (stickier) in some places. I was not at all comfortable walking barefoot in the room and resorted to using towels to make a path from bathroom to bed. The bed was uncomfortable, and was obviously a very cheap mattress. There was no mattress pad, and the single sheet between me and the mattress was rubber coated, causing me to get hot and begin to sweat within several minutes. In order to be comfortable I had to go into the closet and use all the extra sheets and blankets I could find there. This was a handicapped room, but shouldn't handicapped folks also have a good quality bed and a clean room? The climate control(air conditioning in July), while effective, made enough noise when the compressor cycled to wake me up several times; in order to sleep I finally raised the temperature 10 degrees above room temperature so it would not cycle. I was an airline pilot from 2007 to 2012, staying in hotels for approximately 15+ days per month. I have experienced good and bad in hotels. The room was horrible and unfortunately there were no others available on this visit. The rest of the hotel was fine, entryway clean and fresh, dining areas were good and the hallway carpeting (though dated) had been cleaned. Overall, this was not worth the more than $130 paid for the stay. With a corporate rate at this hotel and based on condition, I would expect to have paid no more than 45-$60 for the room on a weeknight. I will not plan to stay in this hotel again, despite the fact that I return regularly to Fargo for business approximately every 6 weeks or less. I have an IHG rewards number but will not disclose it below. July 21, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Room had an odd odor to it. The bar, restaraunt and hotel staff are fantastic. I had a room in the "tower" section of the hotel, room was a bit dated and had an odd smell to it. The entire "tower" wing had an odd smell. Nice pool area for the family! July 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fun Night! My two boys had a blast in the pool and playing ping pong. Fun atmosphere. I wish there was a breakfast buffet included with the room, which makes breakfast quicker and easier. We would definitely stay again if ever in Fargo. July 15, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Damp carpet but great service The carpet was damp because of it being on the frist floor on concrete and being humid. The bathroom needs to be updated the wall paper is coming off and it looked like there was damage around the exhaust fan. Other wise the room was clean. The service was excellent. When we told them about the carpet being damp they were very understanding. I don't think that you could ask for any better front desk help, they were top notch. The hotel just needs some updating and to deal with the damp carpets on the first floor. It may required adding a raise subfloor so that the carpet is not directly on the concrete. The lobby area is outstanding. July 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet Room - Yeah! We stayed here twice during our holidays (heading east and on our return trip west). The hotel is huge, but having numbered doors to enter and exit is extremely helpful. The staff is excellent, the restaurant is very good (food quality and prices). We asked for a quiet room and we were accommodated. The bed was comfortable, even the pillows were good. Holiday Inns, in general, often have poor pillows, but this one had good ones, so we didn't have to use our own pillows. July 12, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasantly welcomed but the value is no longer there My guest and I were pleasantly welcomed by the front staff and welcomed as reward members. After that, everything is simply average. We enjoy the location and the in hotel lounge but for the price this location now charges for what is an older establishment, there are better valued places in Fargo. Suite like charges for basic rooms without fridges or microwaves (even though we made a request during the reservation). I’d hate to walk away from the IHG rewards but there are limited Holiday Inn options within the area July 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fun waterpark and great restaurant We have always enjoyed this hotel and have only stayed in one other hotel in our years of coming to Fargo (and this is the hotel we have chosen over the other). Our girls have a great time in the pool, the upgraded slides were a lot of fun and it is appreciated that lifejackets are provided for the younger/non-swimmer. Even though the breakfast is not complimentary, we do enjoy the on-site restaurant as the breakfasts are excellent. The room is comfortable, a little dated, but everything worked fine. We will be back next time we come as this hotel is also close to all shopping and attractions that we enjoy. July 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel, but Pool was Cold! I told staff 4 times on separate days that the pool was cold. The first 2 times they said they were going to fix it, but the next 2 times they made excuses! Nice hotel otherwise. July 7, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by hot tub on stay sat night the hot tub was full on small children, on Sunday hot tub had a lady with small baby with diapers. The water was a brown-yellow color and I did not care use it. I used a different hotel for my remaining time in Fargo July 6, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 room comfortable We stayed for 1 night as my son's team was staying there. The room was comfortable, check in went smoothly, the staff is very friendly and helpful, & The pool area is very nice. I was disappointed that for the price we paid, it did not include a breakfast or a discount at the hotels restaurant for any meals. July 5, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't quite get what I paid for The hotel is child-friendly, and my 5 year-old certainly liked the Pirate-themed pool area. I didn't mind being able to have a drink poolside while my husband played with our daughter. For a stopover on our way to Minneapolis, it was pleasant enough. Problem is, when I got home and double-checked our expenses, I realized that I had booked a room rate that included breakfast. We had only the 'kids eat free' coupon in our envelope upon checking in, and I paid for our breakfasts in the hotel restaurant on my credit card. Ok, I didn't notice myself, but what is irksome is that I have called the hotel, where I was forwarded to a voicemail, and haven't had my call returned. I am a Canadian who regularly travels south, and am a member of their IHG club, but it doesn't seem that my return business is all that important to this hotel. Shouldn't something be attempted to compensate me for this oversight? July 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dirty linen & uncleaned room I was on business trip and most of time I stayed at holiday inn. This was my worst experience and dissuade my colleagues to ever stop here. Staff was curt, don,t even greet which was least expected after long day of work. Given a room with dirty linen & uncleaned room. July 3, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by NOISEY THERE WAS A PARTY GOING ON ALL NIGHT PEOPLE YELLING AND DOORS SLAMMING. VERY UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE. CALLED FRONT DESK NO RESULTS. MOST PEOPLE STAY AT A MOTEL TO GET A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP. THIS WAS NOT ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS. June 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by COMFY AND RELAXING Great hotel for families....The pool was awesome and my grand kids had an amazing time. Excellent location and clean rooms. June 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Food They always have great breakfasts!!! The only problem we have is getting the right handicapp room. When we call they always tell us they don't have handicapp room available. We cannot call the number for the Holiday Inn in Fargo directly. June 27, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rooms need some work We are frequent guests at the Fargo Holiday Inn. Generally look forward to our visits to this Inn, to visit family in the area. Service is great; food is generally excellent (however, baked potatoes are never done; they are hot, but hard when they arrive with a meal...if they are microwaved, they need to be cooked much longer!) Guest rooms are getting old and need some work. Last 2-3 times we have stayed, have had rooms with large and discolored cracks in bathroom sinks. Have mentioned this to staff on checkout, but nothing seems to ever get fixed or changed. Furniture arrangement can leave much to be desired in guest rooms as well. During our recent visit, could not watch TV from the desk, since the microwave-minifridge "tower" was sitting between the desk and the dresser the TV was placed on. Pool area and lobby are very nice; time to start working on the guest rooms! June 26, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by old and warn This hotel is in serious need of updating and remodeling. torn carpets, dysfunctional plumming, and the internet didnt work inside the room, but it did work in other parts of the hotel. June 21, 2013
