Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable bed, that's about it Weak wi-fi unusable Leaking faucets No adjustable thermostat No fridge empty hotel, all the rooms next to mine full, loud neighbors January 29, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fun at the Inn We had a good time at the Fitchburg Holiday Inn. Even when we had the fire alarm it was interesting. January 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable Rooms The room was very clean, beds extremely comfortable. We would recommend this hotel.... January 28, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Restaurant- staff was in a fight. We have stayed at Coco Key Fitchburg for the past few years. I do appreciate that Holiday Inn has updated the guest rooms. This visit was a family vacation to the indoor water park. Check in was easy and front desk staff was friendly and helpful, as was the water park staff. They were calm and straight forward when the fire alarm went off for 25 min at 1:00am. The food and beverage was not a hilight of our stay. The dinner Buffett was the only option in the Resturant and had a limited selections. There were no fruits or vegetables on the kids buff. We were seated near the front of the Resturant and had to ask the staff to take their fight about side work somewhere else. They were carrying on thought out meal and it escalated to near shouting. A Banquet server came in to complain about how many people were waiting to get in to the ballroom for a Jukudo banquet. January 27, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Exceptional hotel, but a single fatal flaw. Overall my experience at the Fitchburg Holiday Inn was wonderful; spacious rooms, friendly and prompt service, clean, and an excellent value. Unfortunately, the internet was extremely slow on average, and at points was so slow that my browser thought I had lost the connection entirely. Even on nights when there were relatively few guests the internet felt so bogged down that I had to tether to my phone just to do simple work emails. January 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Consistently Great Stay I am called to work at the local university almost every week, so I wanted a hotel that would consistently be great and the Holiday Inn Fitchburg is just that. The staff greet me warmly and many remember my name. I am always given a great room with an incredible bed. Things are very clean and comfortable. There is a young bartender with brown hair, about 23 that has such a great way about him. He is adventurous in his bartending, always creating interesting and delicious drinks according to your preferences. He is sweet and delightfully a people person. Nancy at the night desk always checks to make sure everything is perfect, once I get in my room. She remembers my name and always gets my rate code right. I just love the Holiday Inn Fitchburg! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cost of dog stay I was not made aware of the $75 non refundable dog fee when i booked the reservation. I told them i was coming up for the dog show, the dog fee was never mentioned until i checked in. not sure i would have stayed there if i knew that. i would have at least shopped around for a local hotel with a lesser fee January 18, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Me and My Doggie I come to this facility once a year for my kennel club dog show. I think it is wonderful that my dog can stay with me. I think the fee for my dog is outrageous, especially since our whole kennel club comes to this show and hundreds of other entrants as well. I feel sorry for those people who have to leave their dogs in the dog show area or worse in their vans. Fortunately these are all professional dog owners and the dogs are not in jeopardy. I would think that this facility would work out a "doggie" discount for such an event. The buffet is a very good value for its price, but the dinning room never has enough wait staff to handle this event. This year the dinner buffet cut a lot of corners, such as no desert and mixing beef and chicken together. No good for those who do not eat beef. The breakfast buffet was really good, but again slow service, which is kind of ridiculous for a buffet! The rooms are always very clean considering the pet accommodation. Really nice people at the front desk and whatever you ask them they help you with it. There was a discrepancy in the amount I was charged and what my bill said, but I am hopeful it can be fixed by the front desk. January 16, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Use to be a great hotel changed to holiday inn and is going down the drain Room they gave me had a big black stain in the rug. Moved to a different room with light bulbs out. This use to be an awesome place but since it was sold it is going down the tube. Still better than motel 6 but is heading in a bad direction. Very overpriced January 15, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bugs in the room. First when I checked in I had to wait a lengthy amount of time. Then I was not welcomed as a platinum member with priority club. Then when I finally got to the room all the way at the end of the hall the door did not lock. So I was switched to a double across the hall. I was then switched to a room where upon moving the sheets they appeared dirty with little brown things. They brought me clean sheets which I had to put on myself, then I later found out when trying to sleep what the little brown things were when they were crawling on me and I had bites. I quickly got showered dressed ate and left. I had to get rid of my carry bag and other things as I was worried they might have bugs. This place looks nice, however the infestation was disgusting and I will NEVER stay there again. The room was located at the end of the rear of the building and is infested. January 12, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by need to improve applewood's restaurant. The buffet at breakfast and dinner was not worth the price charged. Eggs were too chopped up and tough. Bacon was poor quality Nothing noteworthy. Most breakfast buffets include coffee and juice, yours did neither. It is better to order your breakfast off the menu. The dinner was horrible, tough chicken, dried out fish that didn't taste fresh. I could not eat it. Either get a new chef or give him better quality food to work with. It was nice that you offer children under twelve for free but it does not make up for your awful food. My grand daughter enjoyed CoCo Key January 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Yes---It certainly was a comfortable bed. The staff was very freindly and accomodating. Everything was clean and proper. It weas a good stay. We will return. January 5, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible Experience When we checked in, the lobby was completely full with people waiting to check in & there were only 2 staff trying to do check ins & answer the phones that were ringing off the hook. We were w/a block booking for a hockey tournament. The whole team was on one floor (3rd) except for us (4th) and one other family (2nd). I requested a refrigerator which was not in the room when we got there, I had to call the front desk when we got to our room. Our room was freezing cold, we had to ask the guy delivering the fridge how to turn the heat on (we weren't told @ check in about "going green"). On our 2nd day, we returned to our room btwn 2-3 pm to find the door propped open & a cleaning cart a few doors down and no cleaning staff in sight. We called out down the hall for the cleaning staff but got no response. Approx 1/2 hr later, the cleaning staff knocked on our door to clean but we refused, very angry for the security of our room being compromised with no staff in sight. We ate in the hotel restaurant & were halfway through our buffet breakfast before a server ever approached our table. We were given coffee w/no cream. We asked for cream and waited about 15mins, going to to buffet & using the milk there instead. When our server brought the cream, there was not even enough for one cup. The food was sub-par. When our bill was presented, our server asked us if it sounded like the right order to us - our server had no idea whose tab it actually was. Others in our group had the same experience with their bill except it worked in their favor, receiving bills lower than what should have been. Many in our group used the water park and felt very dirty upon leaving, one commenting that a sterile bath was needed after being in that water. It had snowed prior to our arrival & the parking lot was very poorly plowed, if it was at all. We travel often & this was one of the worst hotel stays ever. January 3, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by the holiday inn was somewhat dirty The room was nice enough but not the cleanest nor were the common areas. There was dirt in the hall way and also near the computer area, The dinner menu did not impress us at all and we did not have supper there. Breakfast was just OK. January 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Had A Blast. Just went overnight on a Saturday as a surprise for my son's 9th birthday. We took his friend age 8 and my younger son age 4 as well as my husband. The front desk staff was very nice and accomodating. When I arrived 2 hrs prior to check-in just to get the water park passes, the clerk told me that my room was ready and we could check-in then. The room was average size but more modern than previous reviews had stated. The beds were so comfy and the pillows were not flat like most hotels. The waterpark was great. We've gone to Coco Keys in Danvers before and I think Fitchburg was a bit smaller in the waterpark department but not by much. The lines weren't long and plenty of seats available. The kids ate free in the Applewood Restaurant. The food was o k. We chose the buffet. Selection was not bad but the food was bland. The kids had macaroni & cheese as well as chicken fingers and fries on their own "childrens buffet". Their food was good.Overall-the place was definately a bargain for what we got and the kids had a blast! December 14, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Stellar Staff & Rooms/Confusion Re: Restaurant/Food Let me start off by saying that the staff are nothing short of incredibly kind, accomodating and fantastic at the Holiday Inn Waterpark in Fitchburg. The negative portion of the review I have given is with regard to the miscommunication I received surrounding when I could access the waterpark (it was closed during my overnight stay) with my complimentary stay as well as the Applewood Restaurant being closed on both attempts I made to dine there. With that negative piece aside, I would absolutely recommend staying there for the cleanliness and comfort of the accomodations and the fabulous staff. There is a WONDERFUL family owned Italian place to dine in or take out called Il Ricordi, not far from the hotel, that I highly recommend eating at in lieu of the hotel restaurant. December 12, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall a comfortable stay I really enjoyed my stay with regards to comfort, the room and the staff was superior. The dining facility requires some attention however. I realize the waterpark attracts families but our dining experience was dreadful. Children running around like the restaurant was their personal playground and playing around with the food on the buffet was totally unacceptable. December 8, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Watermark Kids had a blast and will come back again.....rooms comfy, November 17, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room but needs a face lift The Holiday Inn Fitchburg has the potential of being very nice.....The grounds are spacious and beautiful. The room is comfortably large, but it needs some renovations. There were stains on the carpet. The desk chair was torn. The TV has very limited channels and no "pay per view" movies available. The toilet paper is one-ply and could be softer! However, the staff were most obliging and did everything they could to satisfy my requests, e.g. microwave & fridge in room. (with extra charge). I would recommend this hotel especially if one is attending a function at the next door hall, or going with kids to the water park on site. November 16, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by horrible service in resturant, awful experience this was the worst weekend ever, the water park was fine but the rest was just awful.. we had no service in the restaurant. we were a party of 12 and waited 30 min in for drinks ( there were 5 parties at the time) apps came out cold 10 min after drinks and after 1 1/2 hours we never had dinner. walked out with out eating. it was 8:30 in the evening. The restaurant was horrible and most of the parties walked out after waiting forever. We had 6 very hungry and tired children as well as adults, extremely frustrated and upset with the whole thing. I really hope that no one will ever experience a weekend like this November 16, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Staff I found the staff from the front desk, to restaurant servers, to housekeeping to be extremely friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful stay. November 16, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Terrible Service Promised a refridgerator and microwave never received even though I was told they were bringing it right wait Service at both the bistro and restaurant was horrible...rude, slow, and completely unattentive November 16, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Time Not as advertised..... Water Park was okay for about 5 mins. Food was awful, Barely edible and extremely over priced in the restaurant. Dinner we forced down because we ordered it, Breakfast caused us to leave and go somewhere else to eat.. Staff limited except in water park. Overall staff acted as if you were bothering them. Extremely noisy on our floor Sat night caused us to leave at 12am. WAS NOT IMPRESSED ESPECIALLY WITH THE PRICE WE PAID! November 5, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by went for water park--pleased! Been to other Coco Key's and hotels were kind of shabby. This was more modern, spacious, esp in common areas/lounges. Lots of room for families and restaurant food was surprisingly good. Staff was very friendly and attentive--had to call down for extra toiletries and towels. These were delivered quickly. Had some minor issues with room cleanliness, but nothing which would keep me from coming back. October 26, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful spaces and cordial hosts We arrived later in the evening and were greeted by a very cordial person at the concierge desk who answered all of our questions with a smile. We enjoyed a late dinner in the full restaurant, the food was delicious and served promptly. The rooms were extraordinarily clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this destination hotel, although we didn't have a chance to check out the waterpark, which looked fantastic. October 26, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Comfortable and updated room Stayed on two separate occasions while visiting my daughter who attends Fitchburg State Univ. Definitely the best accommodations that i've found within 15 miles of FSU and I'll book here in the future. The beds are soft and the linen is fresh. I didn't go to the waterpark that is connected to this hotel so I can't tell you anything about that. The hotel is located in a beautiful wooded location, but not someplace you will be able to access without a car and the nearest dining outside the hotel is about a 5 min drive down rt 2. October 25, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Inattentive Staff Our room had visible carpet stains and pet hair and dust. When I went to the front desk to see if the previous guests had pets, the front desk was unable to give me that information since "they do not keep a list of what rooms have pets". Even though I told her I was highly allergic and had problems breathing due to the obvious pet dander. Instead of getting a manger to help, all the staff person said was "we charge guests to have pets in the room". As a result, I will not be returning. October 16, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great family fun The rooms were nice and the waterpark was awesome. It was great fun for the price. Only drawback was the food. My family did not enjoy the food at the restraunt in the hotel. Overall, it was a great weekend getaway. October 13, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Flying Insects Upon arrival at the hotel we were checked in and sent to our room. Much to my disappointment there were 3 rather large flying insects in the room. I removed them and with the assistance of the maintenance person, Steve, we discovered that there were no screens on the windows and the windows were wide open, allowing access for these flying insects. In the morning there was a bee in our room. Had I not been so very tired, this would have been an immediate deal breaker and would have left for more suitable accomodations. October 11, 2012
