Our room was not ready until 5 pm, had to wait two hours. no rolling carts, they were being used, also no staff offered me an old lady to help carry all my items to my room.

my only criticism is the pool needs to be a bit warmer.Say 80.also loungers needed.Only chairs.and tables.there were already towels on each chair which was very nice

I / We first stayed at H.I. Flint a few years back as a "walk in" type booking. As an approximant half way point between our home in Ontario and family in Illinois, we have stayed several times since. The full service facility, including restaurant / bar is most convenient, after a long travel day and you want to get off and stay off the roads. The indoor pool is a big winter plus for grandchildren. This hotel meets or exceeds the normal good quality standards of the H.I. chain of hotels. What sets H.I. Flint apart is it's staff. When booking, I'm always asked about qualifying discounts and provided the best rate accordingly. I cant recall ever passing a staff member without receiving a warm / positive verbal greeting. On my second last stay I attended a complementary Happy Hour guest "meet and greet", which I thought was a real nice service touch. Our last stay ended with a dilemma, an interior light left on in our auto had left us with a dead battery and immobile at check out. Informing the front desk of our problem, they advised they would have maintenance try and support. Within minutes, the friendly staff, armed with a portable car booster, had us started and on our way. Service and quality is not broke at this hotel and thus, does not need fixing.
