Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A fine but aging hotel with dismal conference food The facility is clean and well-maintained, and the staff are great - very helpful. Because the hotel has been around awhile, guests cannot change room thermostats between heat and cool, and the windows are sealed closed. I stayed on several unseasonably warm days, and my west-facing room became very hot and stuffy. The conference provided lunches, a dinner and a breakfast. Weak, at best. The pretend scrambled eggs gave me military flashbacks (although I think the Navy eggs were moister), and the bacon was drowning in its grease. It's only been a week, but I can't remember what the dinner was . . . my mind must be protecting me from too-painful memories. Expect to park a block away. So, stay here when the temp is where it should be, eat out, and walk off dinner on the way back to the hotel. It actually is a pretty OK place and very converinet to downtown. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyable Stay We enjoyed our stay for a convention we attended. The front desk service was excellent despite many people needing to check in. It was quiet at night so we could rest well. The only suggestion would be to have better control of the temperature in the room as it was quite cold and we just turned it off so that cold air would not blow down on us. The waiter we had at breakfast was excellent and very accomodating. We enjoy the convenience of being able to walk to our convention without having to leave or go outside. We come twice a year and look forward to staying again in October. March 2, 2013

The hotel does not recognize priority members as it once did with drinks and snacks. This is such a great location too. Think twice before staying here. I stay here only for the points. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Staff but facility NOT impressive Although the staff was very nice the facility itself was not great. It smelled like a musty, dusty old building. The room was so bad that it made me and my family's throats sore! The air was bad, no other way to put it. The room was small although we were told it was the same as all other rooms, it did not appear the same. The ac/heat needs to be upgraded as it still has a boiler system. There is a long letter they leave on the bed explaining how you have to call the front desk to adjust the heat/air. We tried to do that but they explained what a pain it is to do so we just "delt with it". Pretty sure that is why I got so sick. Due to this type of ac/heat process you hear what sounds like running water in the room all night. Very annoying! The hotel is connected to the convention center which is conv but still not worth it. First when I called the hotel prior to coming they told me they were a full service and then when I arrived the restaurant was closed and I was never told that I can eat at the bar. Also, the air temperature and quality in the room was poor. Also I waited for almost one hour for the airport shuttle and when they sent it they never told me that the van would not have any Holiday inn markings.. February 4, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not impressed People at the front desk were nice and helpful. Waiter was timely and attentive, Bartender good as well. Room was ...O.K....It follows the 80s Candlewood Suites theme. Now the bad: Cleaning mediocre at best. No real internet connection except at the "business center" desk. 5 mins to see a text e-mail on wireless is inexcusable. No wired connections in any room. "Business center is an open desk in the lobby. Breakfast buffet is cold items only. (fruit, cereal, muffin) Outside phone service incredibly expensive as the "time clock" keeping track of calls is way off. 5 minute call charged at 29 minutes @ $1 minute. Even charged $4.45 for a call that wasn't completed. Most of the first floor was taped off like a crime scene the whole week because the carpet was cleaned the previous weekend. Normally I give hotels a second chance when I get a less than good experience. But no internet means I could not get any work done and I lost money because of that. Next time I will stay elsewhere. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel needs some work. The only reason I stay here is to get points. I wanted to stay downtown in a place that had a restaurant on site and within walking distance of other restaurants. The first night I was there, I ordered room service. After I placed the order, the kitchen called me back three times to find out how I wanted my steak, what type of salad dressing, etc. When it arrived, the young lady put a wedge in the door to hold it open but then said that she could not bring it inside due to hotel policy. I understand that reasoning, but she made me feel like some sort of deviant by the way she said it. On top of all of that, my food was cold. The next morning I go down for breakfast at 7:30. I ordered the $10 buffet but was told that the manager had taken all of the meat and eggs off of the buffet leaving only fruit and other cold items. Really? At 7:30? I ended up ordering off the menu since I was already there. I noticed they had done the same the next morning. I opted for breakfast elsewhere. Bottom line...The only reason to stay here is to get your points. The other options are the HI Express and Candlwood on the east side of town which have not restaurant or bar. The service is lacking and the hotel rooms are in need of updating. It is clean and comfortable, but if I had other options, I would go there. For the record, I stay in hotels about 70-80 nights per year. December 19, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Impressive Lobby We stayed in the hotel for four days and three nights. Our room was cleaned and restocked every day and the staff was extremely helpful and courteous. We were in town for an event at the convention center that happened to fall on my birthday. A friend of mine called the hotel and asked them to put a note on my door to wish me a happy birthday. The person who took the call went above and beyond by printing up a sign with balloons and everything. It made my entire day to find that on my door! The only downsides to my stay were the elevators and the limited access to a microwave. The elevators were really slow so we had to plan way ahead to get places on time. There is a microwave in the lobby that guests may use, but no microwaves or refrigerators near the rooms. This hotel also had an odd habit of slipping notes under the door. It didn't bother me, but it was amusing to get so many notes. Overall, I had a wonderful time and will gladly choose this hotel again. December 7, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel stay 2012 I stayed at this hotel on nov weekend and was extreamlly disappointed the staff was anything but curious and helpful the rooms were dirty with hair n tub no air needs updated desperately People at front desk were not helpful if anything rude tried to complain and didn't help restaurant could only accept credit cards . I stay at holiday inn all the time because there usually for family's but I have 4 small kids and had to buy bleach for tub to bath my kids,....I wouldn't recommend this establishment November 30, 2012

She was extremely rude and borderline racist, she did not help and at points ignorant. We would highly recommend friends and family only if the person at the front desk would not be there. Smith, this is still something special-a typical, mid 1970's, six to seven story, atrium hotel, it still is one of the nicer places downtown. While there are newer downtown competitors, this property offers a good, to better than average value, and you could do a lot worse in choosing a location for a wedding, reception, or smaller, regional conference. It's proximity to the downtown commercial area, and convention center make it a good choice, with free parking, and easy access to area locations. Rooms are clean & updated, same for public areas. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hid their luggage carts and room was fine Day 20 of our vacation, and our last hotel stay before getting home was the only unplanned stay on our trip. We stayed at Holiday Inn Express throughout our trip, and upon arriving in Fort Smith we planned to stay here as well. The problem was there was a bowling convention in town. Wow, who knew there were so many traveling bowlers. All the rooms were booked at the Express, and the hotel manager called around the area hotels to find a vacancy for us to no avail. It is around 10:00 pm and we have been driving for 10 hours. We are tired. I look up on my Droid for vacancies in Fort Smith, and come up with the downtown Holiday Inn. Upon arrival the front desk clerk is chatting with the other employees and I have to wait for him to finish the conversation for him to wait on me. After checking on the vacancies he tells me there are no king size beds available. I ask for a Executive Suite, and he says yes this is available, and I say, doesn't that have king size I am like ok I will take the King bed in the executive suite...weird right, no king beds..hmm. Then we ask for a luggage cart. They have known available, all the previous check-ins haven't brought them back down. My husband says, could someone check the floors for us. We are tired after all, and then the security guard who is also at the front desk chatting suddenly as for the keys to some hidden room, and lo and behold..."Oila" he had carts in his hidden room. You could tell the hotel is older, but the room was clean and well appointed. Bed was nice, so really the hotel was good, parking was close to the hotel. November 4, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Place The Holiday Inn Fort Smith is a beautiful place to stay, especially with the Convention Center being connected to the building. The one thing I must say is that every room needs it's own temperature control that works so that the customer can set the comfort level for themselves. Also, I brought food with me for my trip and had no where to store it. The rooms need mini-fridges at least, and possibly a microwave. Breakfast should also have a waffle bar! November 2, 2012

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Changes from last year We've stayed here, once a year, for 9 of the last 10 years and are Priority Club Platinum members. Previous years we were given a drink coupon and a breakfast discount coupon. We took advantage of the coupons and had breakfast and would go to the bar for drinks and appetizers or a pizza. This year we received nothing when we checked in. I asked about the coupons and I was told that the General Manager discontinued them. Well, we didn't have breakfast there or go to the bar for drinks/food. The hotel may have stopped giving these coupons but it sure cost them. I took my meals elsewhere. October 27, 2012

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by room comfort the room smelled like somebody has been smoking in it before. suppose to be a non smoking room. had to call front desk to have somebody freshen up the room. the room was also stuffy and the room air conditioner had to be adjusted by an engineer, heater was on and we are not able to control it. was to warm to have the heater on.
