I want to thank Suzanne who responded so quickly to my review and offered compensation that I think was very fair. She exemplified what I would expect for customer service. Also, Jason at the front desk, (I hope I have his correct name) he was very accomodating to our needs and also responded with courtesy and promptness.
I recently stayed at the IHG in Frederick, MD as part of a family vacation. We stayed on our way to the OBX and on our way back from OBX a week later. The first stay was wrought with poor experience from the late check-in to the restaurant service. I complained about the experience, although I understand that the issue with the late check-in was isolated and out of their control due to the laundry equipment being down. I was dissappointed that the experience for the kids was marred, but more dissappointed that nothing was offered as compensation, and as a loyal IHG customer, or even just A customer, I expected more. We stayed on our way back and had a much better experience.

The property is older, but did appear to be clean and decently kept.
The check-in process was not as smooth as I am accustomed to at IHG properties. My room location was a bit confusing and I had to ask someone before I found my room. If the front desk clerk had offered a map or a visual of the directions to the room it would have helped tremendously. Additionally, I heard her explain to the customer ahead of me where (what door) would be best for him to park his vehicle at for easy access to his room location, she did not offer that information to me when I checked in. (Yes, I was able to figure it out and parked appropriately.)
My main complaint was the lack of outlets in the room, because I was traveling on business I had several devices that I needed to charge, with very few options. I had to unplug lamps in order to accommodate.
The first morning for breakfast I waited quite some time to be seated and when I asked if I could order from a menu instead of having the buffet I was told that I could, but that it would be a considerable wait to do so. (Which I explicitly interpreted as, "I do not want to be bothered with taking an order - get the buffet". I also had a considerable wait tracking down someone to get my check at the end of the meal. The second morning was considerably better than the first, but still did not meet my expectations.

My stay here was okay. The breakfast is good. Loud people at the pool were kind of annoying. The staff is nice and the room was okay.
