We got to our room, which was stuffy and hot--no big deal--Holiday Inns often have the AC off or set the temperature high to save a few dollars. Once the AC is on, it usually cools down in a few minutes.
Twenty minutes later, it's still hot. We call down to the front desk. They said they would send up a maintanence person. We got one of the guys working the front desk. He fiddled with the thermostat, put his hand up to the vent, and said, "It's getting cooler. It should be okay now. If it's not, give us a call and we'll move you to a different room."
Ten minutes later, still hot. We called. The woman said they would get us a new room and call us right back…thirty minutes later, we called them back. Within five minutes, a guy came up with new room keys and a room number. The room was still in a part of the building with center air. Thirty minutes later…still no cool room. Called front desk again. Within fifteen minutes, they had us in another room (with two double beds instead of a king, which we reserved). This one had a window unit. With the unit set at 65 degrees, it cooled off (although no where near 65 degrees).
When we got our check out slip under the door, we were charged for the deluxe king room that we had originally booked instead of the third room we ended up in with two double beds.
At least the guy at the front desk quickly fixed the billing issue. He was also the only one who apologized for any inconvenience.
I would not be at all surprised if this was not a regular occurrence at this property. It's old. It's run down. The central air in at least one part of the building wasn't working. Even the window units barely cooled the room.
The room we ended up in was not clean, although it is hard to get stains out of really old bathtubs.

Poor service. There was literally only one towel in our room. We asked 3 times for 5 sets of towels and never received them. There were no towels at the pool and our whole family had to share the one towel in our room. We ended up going to Target and purchased towels for the rest of our stay. None of the ice machines worked and it was over a 100 degrees outside, the staff acknowledged that they were not working. The halls are not air conditioned. Also our room was not cleaned at all. The staff said they didn't get a chance to clean it when we returned at 4:30 the first day.

Directly across the street from rental cars at airport and less than 2 min shuttle ride to gates. Older model Holiday Inn, but well-maintained and clean.
