Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service, clean hotel, convenient to Gainsville and the highway I recommend this hotel. It was clean, the staff was great, and it was efficient to check in/out. April 12, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Suitable for an overnight stay The hotel is conveniently located to the university and surrounding establishments. We enjoyed the discounted breakfast provided at the neighboring restaurant. I found no distinguishingly outstanding nor negative qualities about the hotel. It was a bit dated, but clean, quiet, and comfortable. It suited our family of three just fine for one evening. April 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Hotel. Great Location. Hotel is good, staff is excellent, and the location is great. The hotel would be even better if the pillows were replaced with new, non-lumpy ones (not good on the neck). Also the water frequently changes temperatures during a shower, not extreme, but still needs to be worked on. April 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gainesville stay We stayed for the Gatornationals. This was a rewards night stay. The rooms were clean, but small, and need some updating. The staff was very friendly and helpful. If you stay there , do not have pizza across the street at Leonardos. The pizza was like cardboard and not cheap. Beef o Bradys, the food was average but otherwise nice and relaxing March 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing Staff great location THe staff at this location is great. Joe, Linda and Dana did a great job making sure I was happy. Danielle in the Beef O'Bradys restaurant was wonderful as well. March 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Everything was wonderful . The staff was was very good from top to bottom I went to several UF GATORS sporting events and the service and attitude of the hotel staff was wonderful. I will try to stay there the next time I am in Gainesville. March 10, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Old and in need of a refresh Doesn't live up to the standards of other holiday inn's I've stayed at. Just very old and dated. March 8, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great service old rooms You can't beat the location, the service was friendly and helpful but the room was old dark and dumpy. Maybe they have some rooms that have been renovated, you should ask. March 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good location but dated rooms Excellent U of F location in the heart of the action, however the room i had was very dated and small, dimly lit and felt like it hadn't been updated since the place was built. Room was clean, just old. February 27, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by old and dated bathroom lighting poor - thought bulb was burnt out , but mx tried to fix it with a new one (still did not work) -room 501 old and dated a/c unit February 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Staff The Staff offers a free shuttle service to/from local restaurants. This is an excellend amenity. February 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding Service & Location! From check-in to check-out, the University Center is outstanding for its Customer Relations. A friendly staff quickly greets us as we enter the lobby and within minutes we have already checked-in the exact room we desired. A football toss from the University of Florida campus, everything you need in food, drink and shopping is within walking distance, including an excellent Beef 'o' Brady's on site. We are long-time returnees and the property - and people who run it - seem to get better with age! February 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Service The minute we arrived and greeted by staff, they made our stay very enjoyable. We appreciated all that was done for us and the staff went way beyond our expectation.. Thank you very much. January 29, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Only if HI Express on I-75 is full This is an old property and nothing can disguise that. Middle of Gainesville, across from the U of F campus with a Beef O'Bradys on property. It was (on a Friday night, at least) busy, congested and loud. Gainesville PD was having a car towed from the hotel lot and the lobby was full of patrons coming and going from Beef's. On top of everything else, no WiFi in the room. Seriously? I had to stay at this property as my mom was having surgery at Shands the next day. Unless there is a gun to my head, I'll never stay at this property again. January 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great shuttle We stayed here mainly because they offered a free on-call shuttle to and from the event we were attending, as well as a room discount for event attendees. The shuttle was very safe and convenient, especially since we were unfamiliar with the area. Our room was pretty basic, but we were comfortable and loved that we had 8 pillows. Our view was atrocious but amusing - a big garbage bin in an empty lot. We could hear our neighbors loudly through the wall. Fortunately, they didn't stay up late. The rooftop pool was cool, but the chaise lounge we tried to use was broken and the water was freezing, so unusable (this was in January. A pool heater would have been nice, even in FL.) The staff was super friendly and helpful. Really liked every single one of them. Although we didn't like the TWO "courtesy" phone calls we received just before 9 p.m. asking us if we were okay. My daughter was almost asleep and the phone woke her up. I was very unhappy about that. Front desk, if I need anything, I will call you. DO NOT EVER DISTURB YOUR CUSTOMERS LIKE THAT! We also walked to 3 different restaurants from the hotel. It is in a good location for that. Overall, I thought it was a little pricey (I gave the value rating 4 stars because the free shuttle was worth a lot to us), but it was just what we were looking for, so we were happy. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn/Gainesville Staff was extremely helpfull and proffesional. Room was very nice. Will highly recommend this Hotel to everyone I know visiting your area. Thanks again....Ken and Terry December 16, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not up to the usual Holiday Inn standards I am a priority Club member and have stayed in numerous Holiday Inns over the years. This property simply doesn't live up to the Holiday Inn standard. Your first exposure to any hotel is the lobby. The lobby of this hotel was very dull and sparsely furnished. The main corridor to the elevator and the hallway on my floor smelled extremely musty . While the bed was fine, the rest of my room was just Blah and looked like a bunch of extra furniture thrown together. There was a small refrigerator pushed into a corner on a 45 degree angle with a microwave just propped on top. Not the usual built-ins like the other Holiday Inns. The coffee maker was in the bathroom on the counter. I don't know about you, but I don't eat or drink anything made in a bathroom. Simply put, Holiday Inn need to put some funds into this property to bring up the their usual standards. December 15, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Staff and Service I have stayed at this Hotel multiple times, but this is the first time I have written a review. I must compliment the staff, especially the Front Desk personnel. They were very courteous and professional and at the same time very friendly and hospitable. My stay was very pleasant, and I would recommend this hotel and staff enthusiastically. November 23, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Food I've ever ordered No wonder you give a $10.00 voucher to your guests for food each day. I ordered the 1/2 rack of Ribs and it was the worst food I've ever ordered at any Restaurant or Hotel. I travel ALOT and it was really really bad. When asked how my stay was, I informed the desk attendant of the meal and he said, "oh, bummer". That was it. Also, the Hotel smelled old. I realize it has been there forever but it doesn't have to smell like it. November 20, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel rooms and bathrooms I was very dissappointed. The rooms and bathrooms were old and not redone like the other Holiday Inns I stay at. They also smelled musty and the hallways also smelled. I went to eat breakfast and I had to eat in a bar that smelled like the night before. Very dissappointing. November 17, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by One night stay. We stood just one night. Room was clean, bed comfortable, bathroom OK. Reception courtous. November 11, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service The hotel lobby has been upgraded and is very nice. The room itself has not been upgraded, it had a musty odor, the bathroom had cracks in the ceiling and on the shower wall. The location is great for UF visitors. Had issues with the getting into the hotel room - the card key reader didn't work too well. The staff was very pleasant and accomodating and customer service was outstanding. Maintenance came within minutes to address door access. November 11, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable stay I traveled to Gainesville to visit Shands Medical Center and chose The Holiday Inn based on past experience with the chain and it's proximity to the Hospital. The room was very comfortable and the staff very accomodating. I received an excellent rate and transportation was provided which was a real plus, so I made my appointment on time without dealing with parking garages and long walks. Thanks again to the great staff. We will see you again! November 11, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Return stay We had stayed in this particular Holiday Inn before, many years ago, when our eldest son entered the U. This stay we found an upgraded hotel with excellent, clean, bright rooms and a very comfortable. The old-style in-window A/C was noisy and we shut it off to sleep. But the other negatives expressed in the reviews from other visitors were outside of our experience. We had a great room, marvelous and prompt room service service and all the staff we met (on a Sunday) were very welcoming and pleasant. Good value too! November 10, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The best location in Gainesville I've been coming to the Holiday Inn for about 15 years now - ever since we came down for preview weekend when I started college in 1997. We've seen it grown and change over time, but it has always been the best location, with the best service in Gainesville. Value is great ... except for football weekends, which prices me out on principle alone when we come up for every home game (especially with a two night minimum when we are only driving up from tampa) unless we are able to use points. But in a town with sub-prime cabs (especially after a football game), pain in the butt (or expensive) parking and few lodging options near campus, it is clearly worth it to plenty of people - as it's sold out every home game weekend. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff is amazing, the location (see a theme here?) is perfect - you can walk to campus, the sports facilities, the bookstores, just about all of my college favorite restaurants and pretend your 21 again and stumble home from old college haunt bars ... we even walk downtown when we want to venture further. I miss the Denny's that was the campus site of many a late night drunken college experience. But the Beef O Brady's does well in the location, is a great spot to watch games. I don't eat there because 1) I'm a vegetarian and 2) Beef's are a dime a dozen in florida and there are too many nearby favorites to hit up when we're in town ... but it's perfectly adequate with nice staff.
