Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Gainesville-Lanier - fine for a short weekend This was a convenient location in Gainesville for a soccer event for our daughter. The room was on the small side, and our room backed up to the service elevator which made enough noise to prevent us from getting great nights sleep for the two nights we were there. There wasn't anything particularly special about this hotel. Some updates, staff were fine. Breakfast was convenient. The water in the hotel was terrible though, and I realized that this was why I was offered bottled water upon check-in. It tasted like mold - which is what the coffee at breakfast tasted like and when rinsing mouths when brushing teeth. We brought plenty of our own bottled water, so it was fine for us - but I wouldn't recommend drinking the hotel tap water! My only other complaint was the drunk, shoeless guest who was talking up a storm in the bar and asked my partner to buy him a beer. We saw him again the next morning, sitting outside smoking and still without shoes. Nothing terrible, just awkward. January 22, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Business stay Nice older hotel, renovated to be in decent shape. Staff was very friendly. Room was fairly clean but there was cigarette butts in ashtray and on ground outside my porch and the lotion in the bathroom had either been used or was partial bottle from being new. Breakfast was complimentary and pretty good although it was minimal and didn't seem like they wanted to bring out more. January 19, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Gainesville IHG Very disapointed. The room I stayed in really needs to be updated. Toilet is not mounted securely to the floor and everytime I walked into the room it smelled like an ash tray. Did not have a good experience in this room. January 15, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Okay stay Not a good value for price paid. Temperature swings in room hot to cold. Nice place, just had rates jacked up for local event on an otherwise dead time of year January 14, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Gainesville-Lanier Centre Bathroom was full of mold and dust everywhere. Built in the 60s-needs to be torn down January 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by big room and great breakfast We stop in Holiday Inn Gainsville Lanier centre when we where on a trip from South Carolina to Naples. It was a good break and we could have a good night of sleep, and them a good breakfast to start the day. January 5, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A Good Experience Spent 2 nights and everything worked. Other than the room being a bit small and the fitted sheet slipping off one corner of the bed I had no complaints. A/C did the job. Internet worked well. TV did what it was designed to do. I misunderstood the front desk person upon check-in and thought the breakfast was open until 10:00. When I went to find it at 9:05 I was too late. I'll take the blame on that one. The room was clean, the bathroom features all worked with no problems. I'd stay there again. January 2, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worst place possible This is absolutely the worst hotel one can stay. My wife and I were there on Christmas eve. Our room had a leak in the ceiling over the tv/fridge cabinet. They were clearly aware of the leak because we found it off when we first entered the room that the microwave had been moved to a table in the corner and was plugged into the desklamp. We didn't discover the leak until we returned from the exercise room Christmas day morning to find the tv cabinet soak with water and water dripping from the ceiling. They clearly knew notonly because of the relocation of the microwave, but the ceiling showed signs of a repair/patch. The toilet was also not working due to the chain not being connected in the tank. I repaired that myself rather than a maintenance person having to come on Christmas Day. Ford was great and service person in restaurant was great. Front desk staff was terrible. When I told them about the leak they just looked at my wife and I and wrote it down. They never apologized or said anything. They simply stood there so we walked away. Avoid thus place at all costs.
