Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Would not recommend Reserved a room with kid's bunk beds. First, room was not ready at the guaranteed time of check in at 4pm. Second, the room was located on the first floor (all kid suites are) right next to the pool and bar. It was Spring break and thr bar blared loud music until 2am. I called the front desk and was told they couldn't do anything about it. They did offer to move us the next day to a standard room on the opposite side of the hotel, which seemed like a good compromise. Unfortunately, the television was broken. It took calling twice to get the maintenance man to show up. When he did, he didn't listen to what we explained the problem was. He was certain it was the remote, gave a a new one, told us to call if we still had problems, and left. Television remained broken and we were unable to get the maintenance man to return. Positive: hotel is located near the seawall and close to attractions. The kids perfected their game of charades. March 18, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great view of the ocean loved the balconies that all face the ocean. Great little bar just steps away to drink and soak up the ocean view. We had an incident where my daughter found a long hair in her fish tacos but the waitress was just as horrified as we and graciously cleared our table and did not charge for the meal. Drinks and view are A-1 but probably will not eat here again. Miller 's is right next door and their seafood and breakfast specials are very good. All in all..this s a good place to stay..near good food and the Pleasure Pier. March 18, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by only complaint The tv system is geared to force you to rent a movie. It is close to impossible to get to the regular tv channels. I thought it might be this particular tv but stayed in HI in Atlanta last Tuesday and was same thing. I tried to call front desk and the phones went dead. March 15, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by STAY STARTED OFF BAD- BUT ENDED ON A GOOD NOTE We arrived on 02/15/13 (1st day of Gulf Shores Tattoo Expo) - we checked in and unpacked and were about to head to the expo, as we exited our room, my husband went to make sure the door closed and was locked and low and behold it would not lock, you could open the door without a card key, we called down to the front desk and they said they would send someone up to fix it, we had scheduled appts for work and this was making us late, we finally could not wait any longer as we were now 45 minutes so we had to leave, so we took all of our belongings back down to our car. We didn't get back to the room till around 11pm - and when we arrived the door was locked, so we entered and put all of our stuff back in the room, but my huband decided to test the lock situation again with his card key etc... well low and behold, the door wouldn't lock again... we called back down to the front desk and they allowed us to move to another room.... we moved all of our stuff to the new room which then had shattered glass for a window. I called back down to the front desk to make sure they knew it was shattered and wanted it noted that it was shattered before we entered so they would not hold us responsible... they were aware of it. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Loud place to stay Location was great. The night club near the hotel played loud and lousy music till 2:30 AM. This building has not been refurbished in years and you can tell it from the appearance. The plumbing system sings a song to you for at least 6 to 7 minutes after you flush the commode. The carpet was rippled throughout the room and was less than clean. We would have liked to have watched a first run movie in the room. The equipment had other ideas. After the third remote sent to our room we just gave up. I have used the Holiday Inn chain through out my career & travels. I hope someone from this location reads this because the traveling public deserves better than our experience. March 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great view great staff. The view of the Gulf was awesome. The staff was so friendly and helpful. My husband said he had not slept that well in months. The weather did not let us venture out much. We will go back when it is warmer. Cannot wait. March 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great views! Great service! The views are very good on this "all rooms face the ocean" floorplan. A few had funky views because of surrounding area buildings, but overall, very nice. Rooms were clean and well-stocked with the niceties you usually find. Our robotics team had 20 kids and a good number of parents staying for Friday night. The staff (especially Malcolm) handled getting us all checked in and taken care of very well. We had a couple of maintenance issues which were handled relatively fast and as well as possible. There was even a man yelling at him toward the end of this process and he handled it with grace and style without being rude or condescending in any way. The man was unruly, and Malcolm was a consumate professional in dealing with him. The "buffet" area for breakfast was not obviously a free area, so our kids didn't get to take advantage because the teachers didn't realize it was just a bit different than the normal continental breakfast, but most of the adults were able to enjoy a hot, good breakfast. Unlike most buffets, the bacon was crispy, the eggs benedict, very tasty, everything was very fresh, and Tommy provided great service while we had our breakfast. Eleanor was there for our morning check out and was very friendly and hospitable, making sure to let us know about things we might want to see while there. March 4, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room! I stayed at this hotel while visiting my son at Texas A&M at Galveston. I used a PC Reward Night for my stay. The room was great and I had a great view of the pool and Gulf. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks! February 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel better staff We arrived for Mardi Gras weekend. We had a great stay, I would particularly like to thank Debbie on the front desk and Tommy in the bar for making us feel very welcome. The beds were comfortable and we had a lovely view over the beach and the Gulf of Mexico. The room was clean and the shower was nice and strong. Plenty of secure parking at the back of the hotel. No complaints at all. February 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place and great staff. Our first time for Mardi Gras in Galveston, was great we are already planning for next year. Hotel and Tiki Bar staff was excellent and friendly. Tiki Bar was the best place to watch the saturday parade. Simiply loved it! February 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great experience Stayed in hotel 01/20/13 - 01/25/13, have nothing but good things to say about our stay. Stayed in room 516, excellent room with balcony and beauiful view over looking pool and Gulf of Mexico. All staff and sevice was excellent . Must give a special thank-you to Debbie from the front desk, who checked us in and went above and beyond expectations, whether it was help with the internet, or what ever little issue I had, very helpfull and always smiling. Wife had one complaint (could not smoke on balcony) Will definltely stay there again when in the area. . January 30, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Reserved 2 Months in Advance This has to be the worst I have ever been treated by a Major Hotel Chain. I am a Priority Rewards Gold member and use IHG hotels almost exclusively. On this trip I booked my stay on Nov 3, 2012 for my stay Jan 12, 2013 for a King View room. And when I arrived at about 7:30pm to check in the clerk seemed very disorganized and didn't follow standards for Priority Gold Members at all. After 20 minutes blaming the computer she informed me that they had to change my room type because the room I had reserved was no longer available. First of all they are required to have the room key and paperwork ready for arrival for my level of rewards, and guarantee room type. After being placed in a first floor room with two queen beds and a view of the back of a building I contacted IHG rewards and they contacted the hotel to see what had happened. They returned to say that the manager would be in contact with me. After about 30 minutes my wife and I headed out for dinner and stopped by the front desk and the manager came out to speak to me. He offered us a cocktail (neither of us drink), and breakfast the following morning (this is an annual trip so we had already made plans for breakfast) and this was just not acceptable. I have been places where I had to stay longer than planned and been told I had to move because someone had booked my class of room and they had to accommodate the booking. After a further talk with the manager my wife suggested at a minimum they comp at least half the room to start so they did. But this should not have EVER had to happen January 29, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Seawall Boulevard If you are not from Galveston you do not know that this is not the Holiday Inn by the Convention Center where I thought I was booking. After arriving, they told me they could not even send my booking to the other Holiday Inn by the Convention center because I had prepaid. This was extremely awkward and inconvienient when you are attending a conferance. They lost lots of support. The room was clean and comfortable but in the wrong spot and I had not been notified. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel with nice ocean view Stayed at this hotel for two nights in the winter. All the rooms in this hotel have ocean view. The beach is just cross the street. The room is clean and comfortable. January 17, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Annual Family Vacation My family and I have stayed at this hotel for the past 6 years just before our family cruise. The staff has always been very professional and welcoming. We plan to stay there again next year and will recommend your hotel to all of our friends. We had 10 rooms this year that met our needs. The little gal at the reception desk when we arrived was wonderful, she is a gem! Your staff and appeal are the reasons we keep coming back. Thank your all again, The Copen Family January 15, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Wish I Could Recommend, but... So, I travel approximately 3 weeks per month for business and am a Platinum Priority Member. While I generally stay at HIEs, I haven't had a whole lot of disappointing experiences at any IHG properties. This one was disappointing. :-( First, let me say that the young lady that checked me in was phenomenal. Efficient, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, etc. But it sorta went downhill from there. The rooms really need updating, the internet is so slow I was unable to use it for work purposes, my room lacked hot water for my morning showers, two of the three times I tried to contact the front desk after checking in, they were unavailable, and the woman at the desk when I left was a bit....awkward/unprofessional. The rooms needing updates is pretty self-explanatory. Furniture, decorations, and carpeting are old and dingy. I think the bathrooms were updated, but it looks like a shoddy job. Morning 1 = I ran the shower for 15 minutes, then finally took a 5 minute cold shower. There was no change in the temperature, and it was cold. Not lukewarm. I went downstairs to leave and after standing at the desk for five full minutes (I was already running late due to the shower situation), while the phone was ringing and went unanswered, a desk clerk finally arrived. Without saying anything to me, she answered the phone, then got off and still offered no explanation, but asked what she could do for me. I explained the problem, she immediately asked if I was staying on the 5th floor (which I was told at check-in was an "upgrade" - funny), and then said it takes a long time for hot water to get up there. I told her about the 20 minutes with no improvement and she said she could have someone look at it. Twelve hours later I returned to the hotel and asked about it (different desk clerk), and learned it hadn't been looked at. He apologized but had no explanation. I expressed annoyance at that, but agreed to let someone come up and look at it - at that point, what were my options? I went to my room and the hot water came on immediately. When the maintenance person arrived at the room (I had tried for five minutes to contact the front desk to cancel the work order, but the phone was busy. The whole time.), I asked if he had done anything because it was now working properly and at first he said no, but then said, yes, he had just tried something when he learned there was a problem. I asked if there was any reason it wouldn't be working in the morning, and he said they had a room on standby if I wanted to switch. I explained that I'd rather not repack and unpack again; I just wanted to be able to take a hot shower in that room in the morning. He said it shouldn't be a problem. Morning 2 = cold shower again. The last straw was when I was leaving - I don't check out. I take advantage of the automatic check out process. That morning, I was also getting ready to drive to Houston in a storm to catch my flight. As I walked to the door, the desk attendant was speaking to a gentleman and said something along the lines of, "Oh, you should speak to her about it!" and the gentleman started a timeshare pitch. Seriously? It ended quickly (thank goodness) because the scam, um offer, is not available to FL residents, but I didn't appreciate her doing that. In addition, she asked me twice which room I was checking out of, whether I was coming back in to the room, how my stay was, and SEVERAL TIMES if I would come back again. It was really awkward. When I mentioned the water situation, she said, "Oh, so then you wouldn't give us a 10??? But you'll come back though, right?" All in all, just not a great stay, and not what I've become accustomed to staying at IHG properties.... January 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Family Hotel! This was my family and I first time to stay at this Holiday Inn Location, and we absolutely loved it! The location was convienant right across from the beach, the staff was friendly and helpful, and I especially love that it was a kid friendly environment. We look forward to staying at this Resort for our future visits to Galveston. January 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by WONDERFUL STAFF THE DESK STAFF WAS OUTSTANDING .ELEANORIE,DEBBIE AND REESES WERE BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY! TOMMYTOO! THE COFFEE POT DID NOT WORK WELL, AND COFFEE WAS SENT UP. THE ROOM WAS VERY CLEAN! THE PATIO DOOR NEEDED RESEALED AS THE WIND HOWLED CONSTANTLY. ALL IN ALL IT WAS PLEASANT. THE MATTRESS WAS GREAT! January 2, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rip off The staff was absent. The front desk attendant spent more time outside the back door of the lobby smoking than working at the front desk. The bottoms of the doors in my 2 rooms were very rusty and jagged. The phone at the front desk would go unanswered for long periods of time. I was actually hung up on twice by a very rude woman working at the front desk. The wait in the resturaunt was extremely long. I would not stay here again. December 22, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyed our time there! We were staying over only one night prior to a cruise. We got one of the kid suites and had to add a rollout bed for our oldest child. The staff was very accomodating and got us the rollout with no problem. We made arrangements to leave our car in the secure, gated parking area for the week we would be gone with no issues. They gave us a bottle of water immediately - we must have looked thirsty! :) We used the shuttle to take us to the cruise and pick us up when we returned. I have no complaints about the staff or service we received. The room was just fine. We did not try the food - the breakfast buffet price was out of our budget for this trip. December 17, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by too cool Exept for being one of the coolest October weekends I can remember ,every thing else was great. If it had been any better I think my wife might have stayed. We have family in the area and look forward to coming back often.Loved the view and how close everything was. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful hotel The hotel is in a great location. The staff was very pleasant. The room was spacious and the bed super comfortable. The room had a balcony and a fantastic view. I will always stay there when in Galveston. December 11, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Nice people!! The staff at this Hotel could not have been any nicer. They welcomed me ,thanked me for being a priority club member. I arrived a bit early but they had my room ready and allowed me to check in and handed me 2 very cold bottles of water. each time i passed the front desk they called me by my name!! gave a list of resturants to eat at and mentioned places to go and see December 6, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Business Stay Can't say enough good things about the room I had. Very comfortable and spacious, and I enjoyed having a small balcony which overlooks the Gulf. I got lucky with the weather, for a late November stay. They had unseasonably warm weather. I propped the balcony door open during the night and listed to the Gulf -- very soothing! Bathroom was great and staff were helpful most of the time. I had one small hiccup, about which I think the management should to be informed. I found myself needing to do one load of laundry during my stay. The hotel has laundry machines but it costs 4 quarters to get a box of detergent (1 load size), then 8 quarters to wash your clothes, then another 8 quarters for one cycle in the dryer. Not being in the habit of carrying $5 worth of quarters with me when I travel, I asked the front desk for change and they wouldn't give it to me. I asked the restaurant for change and I got the same answer. So my suggestion is this: If you are going to ask guests to pay $5 to do one load of laundry, how about keeping a roll of quarters at the front desk in case your guests need quarters for the machines? There are no change machines anywhere in the hotel. It was 6:30pm on Monday November 25th when I made this request. I'm very disappointed that no one would give me change. The waitress working at the restaurant actually suggested that I start knocking on other guest rooms to see if anyone else staying at the hotel had $5 worth of quarters. Really? That's the best you can do? Anyway you might want to train the front desk to give guests some quarters, IF you are going to ask guests to deposit that many quarters into your laundry machines for one load of laundry. Or you could take a page from Candlewood Suites and just not charge for the laundry machines. I ended up just airing my clothes out on the balcony. Other than this one hiccup, it was a perfect stay. The hotel also has an arcade with one classic Multicade machine. Big props to one of the last hotels I've seen with a classic arcade game! Wish more hotels did this, as folks in my generation grew up on classic arcade games. December 2, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Galveston, Oh Galveston The front desk clerk was very nice and knowledgable at check in. I was recognized as a Platinum Elite Member and was very precise in explaining everything about the hotel. We heard some guests complaining about vending machines being broken down, but we had no problem since we brought our own snacks and drinks. The maid cleaned our room while we were there and informed us that she will return with bath towels when she gets a fresh supply. We left for the afternoon and when we returned, there were fresh bath towels as promised. We have stayed at this hotel several times previously and for some reason the beds in our room were not as comfortable as previous stays and the air conditioner did not seem to work like it should. Other than that we had a very pleasant stay. I will have to say that the rooms are a little pricely for what we got, however this is a problem throughtout Galveston Island. November 29, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great service reception staff very kind and helpfull and they explained everting about place. November 22, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not impressed I travel rather extensively throughout Texas and Oklahoma. This property and supposedly, upgraded room was very average. Housekeeping missed replenishing coffee and paper cups. Vending machine on 4th floor keeps your money. Next time in Houston/ Galveston area, I will most likely stay at the other H.I. resort property up the boardwalk November 14, 2012
