Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good central location This was a great hotel for us. Central for the shops, cinema & theatre. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evenings, so can't comment on the evening meals, but the breakfasts were very good and were available until 10:30am at the weekend which was great as it allowed us to have a relaxing time. The afternoon tea & pre-theatre menus looked to be good value for money. My only slight negative would be that there was only 1 lift and for the size of the hotel it really wasn't enough. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by let down by staff We are often in Glasgow for business and usually stay at the Crowne Plaza but decided to give Holiday Inn Theatreland a try because of it's proximity to shopping and its great reviews. Although we were given a lovely room (albeit small) at the front of the hotel, we found some of the staff throughout our stay very impersonal and unfriendly. We stayed there for the whole week, yet the breakfast staff could not be bothered to show any signs of friendliness whatsoever (it seemed to be an unwelcome chore when a guest came in), had to be hunted down each day to request a second cup of coffee, and generally looked miserable whilst doing their job. At check-out I had an incident where the clerk actually rolled her eyes at me! Interactions with staff have a big effect on whether one's overall stay is satisfactory, and I think some of the staff at this hotel are in need of some extra Customer Service training. I would hesitate to stay here again December 10, 2014
