Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Hotel After a long, slow journey along the M5 returning from Cornwall, we received a warm welcome and check in was quick and easy. Room just as you'd expect, evening meal and breakfast excellent and the swimming pool / spa fantastic. This is the main reason for staying here and the kids loved it. Very child friendly and my youngest really enjoyed the colouring table set up near the main bar area. August 7, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Hotel with Excellent Staff Great hotel to stay in whether visiting Gloucester or Cheltenham. Book without hesitation as the hotel, the staff and food are all excellent. We have stayed with many Holiday Inn's and this is by far the best in our opinion. We used to use this hotel for business in the past but we now also use for Leisure (when visiting family) as it offers everything (and more) we expect and need for a weekend away. Also very child friendly but done in a way that does not deter from those without children looking for a quiet break. Really liked the kids colouring table and the staff made our children's stay such an enjoyable one - alongside winning the sweets and the breakfast pancake machine! Well done Holiday Inn Gloucester - already booked again and will see you in October August 6, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Booking .I have made bookings in a huge number of hotels. However the booking at Holiday Inns has been by far the most problematic. From a provisional booking of three rooms at the booking centre, which when amended and confirmed was not amended. By being told to contact the Hotel direct by the Central Booking Site, to find the telephone was transferred to a line that was no longer active. Then speaking to someone who seemed offended that I had been transferred to her in error. To speaking to the hotel who said they understood the problem, but received again the incorrect rooms. To realising after I received my telephone bill of £10 that Holiday Inn use some sort of premium call rate. To reverting to on-line contact, only to be told that they were not aware of what call rate Holiday Inn use from someone in Salt Lake City USA. Who could not tell me who I could contact to complain about the call rate. To receive an email reminder about three days before my stay - relating to the booking of one room only, not the three! Yet again another email to ask if there are three rooms booked - only to get the automated reply stating Holiday Inn will get back to me within 5 days! Which is after my stay - not the greatest service standard? The only reason I stayed with the Holiday Inn is that there was a family function there, otherwise I would not have wasted any more time or money. I have not included all the horrendous detail; suffice to say never Holiday Inn again. The hotel however was ok' ish. Although the lady who booked me in spoke at the speed of a machine gun running through the usual introduction, which nobody in my party understood? August 6, 2014

The Restaurant is light and airy and the Breakfast I had was find. The Spirit leisure facilities are well maintained and clean and provide the opportunity for some exercise and relaxation. Don't be put off by its location. There's plenty to see and do in the surrounding areas and because it's a business area during the day it's quiet at night. August 1, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A pleasant and enjoyable stay My 8 day stay is so wonderful that I felt reluctant to leave at the end of my visit to Gloucester. All the objectives of a relaxing stay were achieved ----quiet,clean,food superb--especially the chicken gulash with spinach and rice with soft buttered naan bread. The late opening of the bar serving food is an added convenience and comfort, and I did not miss my cup of decaff coffee with sweeteners while shaving daily. July 27, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic overall experience I stayed here the night before my wedding with my bridesmaids and also the night of my wedding with my Husband. It was great from start to finish. The staff are so kind and helpful and really can't do enough for you. One staff member in particular was Chloe, who I had many dealings with when I booked, checked in and check out. She really was an absolute gem and really went above and beyond to assist with every request I asked. Thank you Chloe and holiday inn for making my stay stress free and enjoyable. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Gloucester Arrived 8pm. Not good. Disco on ground floor by reception for a "Prom". Waited 3 minutes before someone came to the desk. No recognition of booking. Chaotic service in restaurant. Bed-pillows, as usual were first class. Pleased to leave at 6.40am after some toast. Just one of those things I guess as this was not the normal experience from a IHG hotel. Suspect the GM needs a wake up call. July 21, 2014

Room was everything expected of Holiday Inn, clean, well maintained and in good working order. Internet worked well though not used for any serious processes such as viewing a video Downside - short of 240v outlets, good job I carry an extension lead with me for my CPAP machine + the many other things that constantly need re charging. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mixed Time Having stayed at Holiday Inns all over the UK, I was very surprised/shocked to find this two storey large complex has no lift to the upper floor. Whilst the young lady receptionist did carry our hand luggage up the 20 plus stairs, I must say I was staggered that there is no other method of taking cases up to the upper floor, other than lugging them up the stairs. I really felt for one man who had to carry a coach load of overseas visitors cases up. I feel that the lack of lift when 50% of rooms are upstairs (no downstairs replacement room was available to us on our stay) should be mentioned on the website. The fact that the fire alarm was set off at 5 past 4 am by some drunken young men, didn't help our stay. Which of course meant we all had to evacuate the building. Nor did the fact that it went off again at 6.40am am, though only for a short time but it meant that it was not a perfect Holiday Inn stay. Though it had one good outcome - I now lay out my items when going to sleep in an order of importance to grab. So perhaps it was a wake up call of a learning type! July 17, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great bolt hole for weary travellers We stayed for 2 nights - husband, self and teenage son. The room wasn't huge, but big enough and comfortable. Loved the bed and son reckoned he was very comfy on the sofa and on the floor (he wriggles). Surprisingly little noise for this type of hotel, except for the air con, which was very effective, but also noisy. Very nice pool area which we made good use of. Star of the show - the really good restaurant - not cheap but far better food than normal in hotels of this type. Dinner and breakfast both excellent, with a really good choice for breakfast (son now wants a pancake maker) July 16, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not up to the usual high standard A nice hotel with good facilities and a very nice breakfast. We chose to stay at the hotel instead of camping at a local music festival, thinking we would get a better night's sleep. However, our stay was marred by a technical defect on the fire alarm system resulting in 30 minutes spent in the car park at 4 am and sleep broken by a second alarm at 6 am. Guest management during the first,false, fire alarm was not well organised, arrangements to confirm all guests were safe did not appear robust, information flow was poor. Far from being the restful break we hoped for, we left tired and disappointed. July 9, 2014

However, the main reason I booked this Hotel over others was their leisure facilities. But when I tried to book a massage I was told, 'sorry Sir they are on holiday'. ????????????? I came to the Gloucester/Cheltenham Holiday Inn to a Teaching conference, I enjoyed my stay at this venue, the staff in general were very friendly and efficient. I would like to say a big thank you to the Bar staff during my stay, the service was excellent. I enjoyed eating in the lounge bar as I preferred eating there instead of the restaurant while watching Football.on the big screen. I really enjoyed using the hotel wireless internet for my work, the staff was very kind at that time. The room was very spacious with good facilities. I needed to relax, I used the pool and sauna and jaccuzi facilties, very enjoyable. The overall of the stay was very good. June 25, 2014
