Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by kerry28 Lovely weekend had by all
We visited family near Gloucester last weekend, and booked the Holiday Inn as we knew we would be well looked after having stayed once before. The hotel itself is very clean, rooms are comfortable and also very clean and the staff could not be more accommodating. We also enjoyed an excellent breakfast. The Spa facilities are excellent and was just what we all needed to make the weekend a very relaxing one. We would most definitely recommend this hotel and give it 10 out of 10.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Janet7 Relaxing break
Stayed here on our way back from a short break in Eastbourne. Staff friendly and couteous and our room was excellent with complimentary bathrobes, water and chocolate. Very roomy. Excellent value.
We had a nice meal in restaurant on first evening although we were rather taken aback by the price of tea £3.10 each for a mug (large).
A map of the town of Gloucester and details of what to do/see in the town would have been a help, although there were tourist leaflets of the surrounding area. Also maybe details of places to eat nearby. Would stay here again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dave177 Holiday Inn - Gloucester
We recently spent a weekend break at the Holiday Inn in Gloucester and must say that we both found it a very enjoyable experience. The room was clean and well presented whilst the staff were both friendly and courteous. Arriving quite late we decided to eat in the restaurant and found the food both enjoyable and reasonably priced. All in all we are quite happy to recommend the establishment as a well run hotel offering good value for money.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Anniechristina20 No free WiFi is a problem
My husband and I stayed here for one night and were quite happy with the room, comfortable bed, choice of pillows, good standard of cleanliness all round and quiet (which we had requested).
The only criticism we had was that WiFi was not free in the rooms. I think it was for Reward Club members but this is such a basic requirement these days and something which is readily available in even the smallest coffee shop. We can only assume that Holiday Inn are making a mint - especially from business travellers but maybe they are all Reward Club members so get it free anyway in which case individual, occasional guests are losing out This would most certainly put us off staying again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by evansrs A reasonable good value "base"
Check in was efficient, friendly and helpful. Hotel communal areas really clean, tidy and spacious.
We were on room only board so didn't eat in the hotel at all although breakfast sounded very expensive at around £15pp per day if it wasn't included in your room rate.
Room was clean and tidy although I must say I was both surprised and disappointed with the size of the room. It was very small with very little room either side of a double bed. Air conditioning in the room worked wonders (probably because of the size of the room) and kept us very cool and comfortable.
Overall, for the price we paid it was a reasonable, clean and comfortable 3 night stay.
Hotel is out on a commercial site but only about a ten minute drive from Gloucester City Centre and the docks.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cath52 A Weekend Meet Up
We had planned a weekend meet up with friends, some live nearby, and others stayed in the hotel with us. From the moment we walked in, we were made welcome by very friendly staff. Our room was spotless, spacious and the bed very comfortable. A bonus was that it was well ventilated, excellent air conditioning. Breakfast was very good, a wide choice of freshly cooked food served in a bright clean dining room. We had a minor issue with the door lock on our room just as we were going out one evening, and a member of staff came up within minutes to offer solutions to resolve the problem. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by jpetal Another brill night at holiday inn
When we booked rooms we were assured we could have adjoining or at least next to each other rooms as I was in with toddler and my husband was with our other child. We have to book two rooms or no way we would get any sleep. When we checked in rooms were a distance apart which was disappointing but staff quickly amended our rooms to be next to each other even making up sofa beds straight away. Dinner was lovely and kids eat free. Peaceful night sleep, kids slept well. The facilities are great at this hotel for families although it was midweek when we stayed and full of suits. Definately would stay again. Only negative pool changing room very small no separate changing rooms and air con was freezing so had to go back to room and change

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BigR1 Overall Very Good
Good stay, room a little small and only 1 bedside table. Would have been nice to be warned that there was 2 different functions on the weekend we stayed because we could not really use the bar on 1 of them because it was full of a wedding party so we had to retire to our room early.
Nice pool area. Nice breakfast. Overall a nice place for a weekend away although area hotel is situated not very scenic.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Craig28 Good Value & Excellent Staff
Booked 2 nights for a wedding in the Wye Valley.
Use Holiday Inn fairly often; mainly at Heathrow. This one was good.
Good gym and pool, unless you are a serious weights user.
Clean room, comfy, firm bed with two pillows each, good HD TV, excellent shower.
Really quiet too.
Staff at front desk were excellent; we were a group of 3 couples so they arranged for us to have rooms together even with us arriving at different times.
We asked for recommendations for local restaurants; one chap wasn't sure so he asked a colleague. She drew a map with directions to The Queens Head - on the way to Tewkesbury - great food but try to book ahead, especially at the weekend.
Only negative - room was a bit small. Not that it was problem this time but it wouldn't be any good if two of you planned to spend a lot of time in the room.
Oh, and they're still charging for WiFi - which is a massive irritant. I think IHG are doing something about this next year for all members, but really, it's 2013, about time it was free. If Starbucks can do it - so can Holiday Inn.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 1326 A very pleasant stay
We were made very welcome by efficient reception staff & were delighted to find that our earlier request for as quiet a room as possible had been noted & supplied.
Beds & pillows were very comfortable, the air-con simple to use & efficient. The room & bathroom were immaculately clean while the public areas were light & welcoming.
Breakfast had a very good choice of cooked &/or cold dishes.
Altogether a very pleasant stay

How nice it was to be welcomed back one week after our first visit. We can't fault the staff in all areas who were courteous and responded so kindly when one of us wasn't feeling so well. Our rooms were well appointed and the facilities of the swimming pool and sauna meant that we could unwind and relax in comfort after our long journeys. The hotel is ideally situated near to the motorway but in a quiet location on the edge of Gloucester.
Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Limited Menu Choices
The hotel menu is very limited, I have made several suggestions to the hotel to improve the selections avaialble, in the following areas; More Fish, Rice, Pasta, Vegitarian and salad dishes plus the menu should provide the calorie content of the foods to aid better selection for people having to watch out for what they are eating.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by tourguide51 good weekend shame about the bar
we booked numerous rooms for a family get together in Gloucester. Booking and confirmation of the rooms was excellent as were the rooms themselves. In fact the disabled access room was brilliant. Breakfast on the 2 days was superb, shame the pancake maker packed up on day 1, but day 2 it was fine. Good selection of breakfast items and the staff including the chef were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
The only downside was the bar. We had been out on Saturday night for a family meal and when we arrived back at the hotel (11.10pm at the latest) we were informed that no draught beer was available as the bar was shut. We were informed however that you could purchase bottled beer. The sign on the bar entrance says open till late - sorry but I don't class 11.10 late when its a resident bar. There were 15 of us wanting 1 or 2 drinks at the most - this put a bit of a dampener on the night hence the average mark for food and beverage .

Great hotel just off M5 to break journey on route to Devon. Great surroundings with a big car park. Food excellent served by pleasant staff. Staff were eager to help and at all times courteous. In fact I would say they went that extra mile to satisfy the customer. Will be using this hotel again. Will recommend to my friends.

This hotel is one of only a handful( so far) in the UK that we have found that have made extra provision in the guests rooms for guests who are wheelchair dependant - the bathrooms are larger and the main rooms have extra room for extra manouvrebility. The beds are low and not necessarily helpful for anyone who has difficulty standing without assistance but they are comfortable for sleeping. Room service breakfast is available which is a BIG plus for us

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Vicky67 Excellent staff, good food, poor room, drinks way overpriced
An enjoyable stay despite small, ugly, stuffy, badly furnished shabby room. £8.00 for a glass of wine is ridiculous and restaurant & bar food overpriced. Staff were superb and breakfast good but hotel compares unfavourably with other Holiday Inns, e.g. Cambridge & aylesbury.
