Overall I felt you should be ashamed. The room was shabby. I expected a nice room for the price we paid. I was Very disappointed
Scratched up well worn furnishings, burns on countertops, lamp shade melted or wrinkled, couldn't see tv fully from couch, spout on the hot tub broken, dirty carpet, just shabby overall

Why, when I call to book a room do I get transferred to some person at a call center somewhere else? I know everyone needs a job but the point is, I want to talk to a person at the hotel I will be staying at. I want to be able to say, are you the hotel across from peavey mart, or the one by the keg and they should be able to know that answer by looking out the window. Also, you have figured out that people don't like to say no, so you ask 'I would like to transfer you someone who can help you join our rewards program, is that ok?" NO it's not ok. "Ok then, how about I ask you 4 more times before the end of this call". I don't like it. I only stayed there because my course was there. Next time I get transferred to a call center, I will hang up.
Also breakfast was never made clear, I didn't know where I was supposed to go and I waited around the front desk but there was no attendant. I had to rush down at one of the breaks in our training to check out. 10:58. All in all even with a 15 minute fire alarm drill that day the hotel was nice but the booking experience was irritating. Don't let your nice hotels put on the last call list because you think it's cheaper to have minimum wage people run the front desk and forward your booking to a central call center. The front desk used to care, but now they're just a cashier so why should they?

The best part of the hotel was the fact that it had Telus Optix TV with all of the channels. Other Holiday Inns just have basic cable, which is terrible for someone who is on the road and spends a bunch of time in the hotel room. Internet was fast. And the Hot Tub was a good temperature. I didn't try the food so I don't know how bad it is. Being a platinum member and getting the room ugrade was worth it as it was big and clean.

The toilets are really low and no bars to get yourself off the toilets. Bars in the shower but not in the public or room bathrooms. Staff did help suggest where to get a raised toilet seat really helpful. The handicapped rooms have only one bed in them which would be hard to care for someone in need. Overall the stay was good and staff where very helpful with extra towels and assistance to buy a raised toilet seat. Normally would not have been in the situation but an unexpected accident with urgent family matter needed us to travel. The rooms at the Hinton Holiday Inn Express had toilets that were high enough and the counter was close enough for my mother to help herself.

Our initial check-in, the Greeting was great - acknowledged rewards membership. I found the cost of the last night rather high, I'll be staying another night tomorrow evening for much less. I'm not sure what the difference is in 3 days time. Pre - Thanksgiving weekend I guess.
Otherwise, the room was clean, aesthetically pleasing, building appeared well maintained. My daughter absolutely loved the shower head. The tv slightly glitched - the room temperature was a little tricky to get the hang of. It was much quieter this time as opposed to the last stay (there was a wedding last time - the noise was understandable.)
The breakfast buffet was good to my husband & I, my daughter ordered off the menu and didn't really enjoy her breakfast, she thought it tasted greasy. She didn't voice her dis-satisfaction at the time and instead chose just not to eat it. The waitress was kind to apologize for the long wait as she wasn't served her meal until after my husband and I had finished eating.
When staying away from home - the beds, showers, and service were comfortable. Thank you for having us.
