Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Wellness Equipment - Poor efficience at the restaurant The Equipment at the hotel is great and the welcoming staff is good. AT the restaurant the employees are ok in term of relationship but the process/organisation is not good. When you arrive the morning, it is not clear for the coffee/tea .. For the dinner i have ordered a Hamburger and a beer. Waitress told me that it needs 25 min (don ' t forget it is just an hamburger ....# and recommand to order bread/olives with my beer. I have waited 15 min for the bread and butter and 20 min for the beer.... 6 guest in the retaurant # 3 waitress# ... When I finaly received my beer and eat the bread... the waitress ask me if she can bring the hamburger which was finish. It is not for my point of view the team, but the process and the organization is not efficient and at the management level you must think of that. For my side I will not use the restaurant for my next visit. Hope my comment will help you to improve the services and so the customer experience/satisfaction. Best regards December 9, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel! A very nice hotel with friendly staff. From the outside it looked small but it really wasn´t! Spacious and beautiful interiour. The breakfast was excellent! A surpise was the machine that made panncakes! Yummy! I would have been even more pleased if they had also served porridge. I would gladly return! And Guildford is a nice city. December 1, 2013

It combined modernity and efficiency with comfort and good service Its location was very handy for the city and science park. The staff were extremely helpful, especially in the dining room. The breakfasts were very good. It is the first time we have stayed here but would certainly do so again. November 22, 2013

Shame about the check out queue which was 8 deep at 8 am on a week day morning. Spoke to the check out lady and she said she was on her own. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing this time around Having stayed at this Hotel in Feb 2013 and having a brilliant experiance, we decided to return for my birthday. Big mistake, it was such a let down, right from the off, there were no bathrobes in the room or slippers. The remote control for the T.V was flat on batteries. No toiletries in the bathroom. This time we stayed in the noisy lower ground floor. The breakfast was very poor, with cutlery missing, no condiments and a chef who does not know the difference between a boiled egg and poached. The eggs came after we had finished our breakfast. As did the coffee. Although the breakfast times went on until 9.30am when we requested mushrooms at 8.45am we were told that they had all gone and no more were going to be cooked, so terrible breakfast, being that I am on a gluten free diet. Room service was no better at nearly £7, for cheese and biscuits, advertising 3 different cheeses, it arrived with only 2 cheeses and then had a £3 charge on top for bringing it to the room. If you need to contact reception from your room, forget it, they do not answer the phone. When we checked out, we were asked how did we find our stay, when I raised our concerns I was told that they were very busy and so it was to be expected! November 6, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by SURELY THIS IS NOT THE IMAGE IHG WANT TO PORTRAY??? Stayed here for easy access to Surrey Sports Park. On booking, I asked for a accessible/ground floor room. On arrival, I was told that neither was available. I have restricted mobility and suffer great pain and discomfort when having to use stairs. This hotel has no lift. The room I was given was on the first floor. The best the receptionist would offer was a porter to take my case up to the room. She told me there is only one accessible/disabled room in this hotel. As a result of this, my stay was mainly uncomfortable and very painful. As I was staying over a weekend, breakfast was not available until 07.30am. As I had to be at the sports park at 07.45am, this meant a rushed cup of tea. I asked if it were possible to have an earlier breakfast and was given a definite no. On the second evening there was a wedding function in the hotel. This pretty much overflowed into the bar and lounge area, so when I attempted to sit in the bar for a meal, I had to return on a second occasion as the area was full of the party guests. Yet another trip to and from to my room!!! Unfortunately, the guests staying over were in rooms all over the hotel, so they were running up and down the corridors making quite a lot of noise. Children were running about until the early hours. Surely it would be more sensible to allocate an area on one floor (the lower floor??) for block bookings such as this? Then the guests could be together and not disturb other residents. All in all, I did not enjoy my stay at Guildford. Next time I shall look for an alternative, even at the cost of convenient access to the sports park. If you want a comfortable and peaceful stay, don't stay here. November 6, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Impressed We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Guildford as we were attending a wedding nearby. We didn't book in till 10.30pm so didn't really get full use of the hotel amenities. Breakfast was very good but there needed to be more staff serving and cooking the eggs but I understand that it was particuarly busy that morning. Had a lovely nights sleep and the room temperature was just right. My brother and his wife had a double room and said it was the best they had stayed in for a long time and they are frequent travellers. They especially liked the complimentary mars bar. Didn't hear any noise at all to disturb us in the room. Overall a lovely stay and would certainly recommend it to others just a shame we didn't get to use the pool due to lack of time. Particularly we would like to compliment the staff in the restaurant at breakfast who are cheerful, competent and handle the rush admirably. The front desk staff are also to be complimented on their courtesy and helpful demeanour. We will be back next June for another stay around the time of Wimbledon. Thankyou. Jean & Bane. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by No Internet & minimal TV These days hotels like this should provide wi-fi as standard. Holiday Inn promised it but it never worked all evening or the following morning. When reception finally answered my call they couldn't offer any solution or say when it would be fixed but said they'd already alerted a head office engineer previously. The TV selection is really poor. Sky One didn't work. There's a better range for free in Travelodge. Why can't they offer the standard Freeview channels like cheap B&Bs manage? Most BBC, ITV & Ch4 digital channels are not available. October 31, 2013

The kids had a fantastic time and we all enjoyed a delicious meal in the restaurant. Breakfast was also great. The deal with the Chessington tickets is excellent definitely worth doing. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Impersonal business hotel I stayed from Sunday to Friday. Despite the length of stay only one member of staff showed genuine interest (Friendly waitress named Apple). Breakfast was very busy and staff seemed to be struggling to deliver a quality service. e.g. tea and coffee slow to arrive, buffet out of croissants, when pointed out, more were brought but were warm and dry clearly left in kitchen too long. Some staff had limited knowledge of English, one only seemed to understand "tea" or "coffee" and had to refer to a colleague when asked a simple question. Same problem with housekeeping staff who at least seemed friendly but could not hold any sort of conversation. During most of the day the lounge is occupied by business people holding meetings and interviews. The noise level is high and made worse as the lobby, lounge, bar and restaurant are all open plan with no dividing walls. It is not a relaxing atmosphere. The hotel should at least provide a private quiet area for guests. The wifi charge of £5 per half hour/£16 per day is outrageous. I assumed it would be waived as I had a Deluxe room and am an IHG Rewards Club member but no, "it is not something the hotel can do anything about". I will not stay at Holiday Inn again if IHG do not join the internet age. I did not find noise a problem as I asked for a quiet room but the hotel is very close to the A3 to the east. My room was on the west side but I noticed that a Park & Ride is being built on that side so noise may be a problem in future October 28, 2013

The restaurant staff, especially Tracey and Apple, is the best I ever seen. The staff are wonderful, they work had to make you feel welcome, at ease and comfortable. The fact that the hotel is not in the town center ensures that you are not disturbed by the noise and commotion. The Surrey Sports Complex is next door but you don't hear it. Easy to book on line, easy to check in, reception Staff very knowledgable about the area, taxis, trains etc. The rooms are comfortable , tea and coffee facilities and large flat screen TV. Bathroom very clean with toiletries, large towels and bathrobe. Good breakfast and evening meals. Bar area is well used by hotel Guests in the Evenings, very sociable atmosphere. Look forward to free WFI in 2014. Will definitely stay again. October 9, 2013

We were given information was needed. It was lovely to be able to use the pool while we were there. All staff members were helpful. However unacceptably high cost of wifi connection despite being an IHG member. Apparently must be gold member for complimentary wifi (btw I have stayed at other holiday inns at other countries and wifi was offered complimentary for my IHG status. Poor service at breakfast (seemed to be short of staff) with dirty cutlery on 2 consecutive days. October 2, 2013

The rate to use the internet is very expensive, It should be free for guests, especially when the rate of the accomodation per night varies so much. Charging extra for the internet is like charging extra for watching tv. The location is good and the staff service in the front desk is pretty good and helpful. Many thanks. October 1, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location foor Goodwood events We selected Holiday Inn in Guildford for our visit to the 2013 Goodwood Revival meeting. It turned out to be a great choice. It is located right on main road A3. It took us about one hour to get to Goodwood (at 6:30 in the morning!) and also the trip back was smooth. The hotel itself is clean, spacious, modern and reasonably priced. To be recommended for the busy Goodwood events (Festival of Speed and the Revival). September 20, 2013
