The most disappointing aspect of the stay was the high cost, average quality and poor food service in the bar and restaurant areas. Extremely slow, some items didn't arrive and were brought after the meal had been eaten and a complete lack of initiative and understanding of quality service. January 22, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gratuities fromStratford upon Avon "I have on several occasions in the past tried to add a gratuity to my bill to be put into a staff fund. This is particularly relevant when spending several days at the hotel i.e. Christmas. On more than one occasion I have been advised that there is no such facility and it is left to me to see individual members of staff. This is not satisfactory since staff shifts change from day to day and neither is it fair for other staff who are not directly involved with guests. Can not arrangements be made for the future?" The above is a review I sent in 12 months back and was assured that suitable arrangements had now been made This is not so and the problem still exists. One of my daughters tried to add a gratuity and was told this was not possible as the receptionist did not know the code for gratuities. When I checked out after 5 days another receptionist showed it as a 'room charge' with the note 'guest wanted to add gratuity. I suspect this sum did not end up where it was intended. Why is this so difficult? In addition, I am usually allocated room 215 and asked if that was available. I was told that it was and I could have it if I wished. It was not until I checked out that I found there was an additional charge added to the bill, which I refused to pay. The door to 215 was clearly marked as an Executive room, which is what I had booked. January 17, 2015
