Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by bookworm9515 Poor internet
On the whole my stay was fine, everywhere was clean and well presented. However, I was given a room on the top floor, and when trying to use the internet to listen to the radio in the morning I experienced significant buffering. Having stayed in this hotel a few time now all rooms appear to have thin pillows as their 'soft' pillows which do not give a soft pillow experience.
My room service meal, rib eye steak, was not of the quality I would expect for the price I paid. I would also query whether the quality of food served in restaurant would have been better.

Overall hotel was great.
You immediately felt that the rooms were being refurbished and you're dumped right in the middle of it.
There were no information in the room, which is unsual IHG standard
Breakfast was interesting, has to ask for cold drinks to be refilled several times

Staff were competent but seemed to be working according to the company guidelines rather than assessing the requirements of the individual guest which in our case were non-business senior citizens.

I frequently stay at IHG Hotels and found this Holiday Inn met the usual standards I have come to expect in terms of room quality, staff politeness and efficiency together with appropriate food and beverage services.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PCLJB Clean and comfortable
The overall impression and experience of the hotel was that it was very clean and comfortable. The reception area - a wedding was being held there when we arried - was pleasant and the service from staff equally so. The room itself unfortunately smelled distinctly of smoke but open windows to allow fresh air in resolved this. A very modern and efficient shower with good towels but tissues were or poor quality. The bed was extremely comfortable. The facilities, i.e. tea/coffee and television as anticipated, an additional glass or plastic cup to the one per person provided would have been appreciated so one could be used in the bathroom and one in the bedroom area.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Unconnected A bit of a let down compared to other Holiday Inn Hotels
The hotel itself was average at best.
Unfortunately it was let down by a few issues.
The room quality was a bit tired and in need of a lick of paint at least.
The Aerobics class going on in the other building was audible from my room, which could have been prevented by simply closing the fire escape door of the Gym, luckily it only lasted about an hour so not a major issue there i suppose.
The free WiFi offered is so slow that it is almost unusable, so i paid the £25 fee for a two day access and immediately wished i hadn't, as it was only marginally better. I was unable to carry on working from my hotel so stayed in the office I was working at instead. This is made more annoying, as being an IHG member I am supposed to get free WiFi but I assume that is just the standard WiFi.
Lastly and this is minor, and more of a reflection on general Holiday Inn procedure, than this hotel. I am an IHG Spire Elite member but the reservation stated Club member, I hope this isn't to avoid having to offer any upgrades. This has however happened on the last few reservations at other Holiday Inn Hotels...

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Josh B Great service from staff
Great value stay with great service from the team at the hotel. Full use of the facilities including leisure and pool. Some real 'above and beyond' help with early breakfast requirement and an additional WIFI log in!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Lesanna Wedding receptions spoiled stay
Stayed with wife, son, daughter-in-law and 2 young grandsons (aged 5 and 7) for 4 nights that, unfortunately, included a Friday and a Saturday when the hotel hosted 2 wedding receptions that led to some very unpleasant behaviour. This was probably fuelled by drink and it spilled out into the hotel lounge, reception and also outside the lobby to the hotel. This meant that on our return from days out we had to "run the gauntlet" of drunken males and females or all ages, dodge the scuffles en-route and make sure that we avoided the broken glass under foot. Not a pleasant experience to say the least!
To add to this our corridor was being renovated so things got pretty noisy and busy from 08.00 to 08.30 onwards! The renovation is much needed as the hotel is looking somewhat jaded.
Apart from the above, everything else was great including breakfast and the pool/gym. The staff were generally first class and very helpful.
