One of the most dynamic places in Europe, Manchester is a big city with a compact and friendly city center, perfect for exploring. Visitors to our Holiday Inn® Manchester hotels will soon discover the charms of this trendsetting town, which offers contemporary shops, dining and attractions mixed with traditional street markets and local pubs.
Manchester’s fascinating history comes alive today in its Victorian buildings and monuments, like the gothic Town Hall in Albert Square. Still, many new public spaces and imaginative developments have reshaped its skyline, making the city a contemporary destination with plenty for our Manchester hotel guests to do and see during their stay. Visit the futuristic Lowry Center at the Salford Quays or take in the eclectic boutiques, restaurants and cafes of the bohemian North Quarter. The grand New Trafford Center offers a little something for everyone and is well worth the trek from our central Manchester hotels. Fashionistas will love the 200+ shops and beautiful marble and granite streets, while sports fans will want to catch an exciting soccer game with hometown favorites, the Manchester United.
Looking for more low-key activities? Relax at one of the many cafes in St. Ann's Square, where you can spend hours gazing at the fountains and street performers, do some people watching or pick up something fresh from one of the outdoor markets. You’ll find that Heaton Park is a quiet oasis away from the bustling city center, with beautiful, lush green spaces, an animal farm, boating lake and more. Art lovers will appreciate the new Manchester Art Gallery, which is home to many exhibits, as well as a fabulous café and gift shop.

My only negative comment is that the shuttle bus service to the hotel was poor. I do not expect to be kept waiting at a bus stop. Bank Holiday it may have been, but that was no excuse. On arrival at[More]
the hotel, I was swiftly checked in to an accessible room (as requested). There was no soap, stand for my suitcase and no face cloths. I went straight back to reception, reported these problems and they were swiftly sorted out by the housekeeper, Petra, who was still on duty well after 7 pm. I thought this was excellent service. The receptionist gave me a voucher for a free drink (without my asking). As a half board guest, I enjoyed a superb two course meal in Sampans - with prawn crackers and a fantastic cappuccino. I was had been told that prawn crackers would be a chargeable extra, and was quite happy with that. Asking for a note of costs to be charged to the room, I was told that the items would not be charged for, because the staff had enjoyed serving me! The following morning at breakfast, the supervisor (whose name I have forgotten - she knows who she is!) was kindness itself. I have problems physically dealing with buffets. Everything was taken care of. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. [Less]
