I was traveling all day. All I wanted to do was check into my room and order-in using room service. I was surprised to learn that they no longer offer that service! Thats astonishing especially when[More]
you have a restaurant right there. I was told that all the NYC hotels decided to end the service. However, I was treated well by the staff especially George the manager, Sandra E and Vanessa F. At the Brasserie I was taken good care of by Clare L and Travis. I was using our points for this room and I was told that breakfast was included by the phone attendant but it apparently isn’t the case at this hotel. That was one reason why I booked there. I explained that situation to George and he was kind enough to give me a breakfast voucher. I was happy about that!
The room was not as clean, there were no robes and it was not of 4-5 star quality. The furniture is worn and the bathroom sink wood was quite worn. BUT the bed was very comfortable and that is one of the most important things, right? So it was really pretty good. Finally - the real kicker was that I was charged for the room - not good! I had to use my precious time to clear that up. It was a bummer to have to sit down and write everything down on an email, then make phone calls and be put on hold because it was now 5pm Friday and probably the busiest time at the Crowne Plaza. All is cleared up once I spoke to the right person—George! - He's my hero. [Less]
This Holiday Inn's rooms far exceeded my expectations of what a hotel room could be like in NYC. Having stayed in innumerable dingy hotels in the city, I've expected that to be the norm (unless[More]
you're paying an exorbitant amount of money). This Holiday Inn is comparably priced to anything you'll find in the city, and the quality of the hotel and rooms is absolutely stellar. Plus, you're located in a prime LES spot. Highly recommended. [Less]
Let me get started by saying this hotel is not perfect for tourists visiting New York. It is around 1 hour on public transit (buses/subway), or a 20/30 minute drive. If you're willing to travel in,[More]
however, it is a great place. I personally prefer staying just outside of cities to get a real true sense of atmosphere and it lets my indulge in more local activities.
The hotel is located next to the highway, however noise was not a problem for me. The only noise that was a problem was actually from the car park whereby people would often stand around talking etc. This usually stopped by around 11:30pm though.
The room was great and has what you need. A nice, comfortable bed. A clean bathroom with a shower that works and has a good range of temperatures. The hairdryer in the room wasn't overly top notch, but that is too be expected and it appeared to be a pretty common hotel hairdryer.
Check-in was quick, with the WI-FI password being given to me without the need to be asked for. WI-FI was pretty fast for Facebook browsing etc, however at peak periods (during the evening) it did get slow and would on occasion completely lose connection. I did try to download a program that was 358mb and it would have taken 7 hours to download. Not great, as usually it takes me seconds.
Value for money was relatively good, however be sure to check around for the best price. I didn't and unfortunately was caught out by that.
Overall, though it was a great stay and I would definitely return and recommend it to others. [Less]
